Before you know it you’re in it constantly, setting alarms to get back on time and even with the continuous grind you can’t compete with people spending tens of thousands of pounds on their setup. The sums of money involved are ridiculous. Not to mention how toxic players can be. It used to be one of my favourite games, and for a long time it was genuinely a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it has now turned into a pure money grab in almost every aspect of the game. It’s honestly a shame watching such a good game go in this direction. They constantly add new features and mechanics that require players to spend even more money, while the gap between free-to-play and paying players continues to grow. At this point, the pay-to-win advantage is ridiculous. One strong player can practically take on an entire group of 12 players and still come out on top. The power gap has become far too large, and strategy matters less and less compared to how much money someone is willing to spend. If you’re thinking about starting this game, I honestly wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of other kingdom-building and strategy games out there that are much more enjoyable and don’t feel nearly as focused on getting players to constantly spend money. Me and my wife play together we have loved every second of the game and never had any issues with the game or the company who runs the game. We intend to spend many more years playing together.
