Stop looking for a game that ain't so much P2W, they're all like that. It doesn't matter what sector you're on, it just takes a group of people that are all P2W to form up an alliance and annihilate everyone else. It took me 30 days to realize that, even though I was very very active due to work from home and keep things moving, it got to a point where it was a second job. Steer away, it's addictive. It ain't a time killer, it's a time stealer. I'm rating it 4 stars because of all the base building games this is the most straight forward that I've seen and simple. Unfortunately, the amount of events going on, the competition, it's very very hard to keep up unless you put in $$$ which is still mind boggling to me how so many people are willing to throw away dozens and hundreds of dollars into mobile games like these. I'm going to look for a paid mobile game instead even if it's single player. Met fun people, was fun while it lasted but don't let games steer you away from your goals and spending quality time with people and enjoying life. Life is out there, not here. Time flies guys, spend it wisely. ### 2/5 — Could be great…but *2023-02-23, version 2.16.2* It’s basically a clash of clans in space with Warhammer 40K skins. It has some potential however, it falls short because after BB20, to contend you must spend a lot of money, or farm until it gets too boring to play. The other problem is, sectors are short lived before they die. They get over ran with P2P players who rush to BB40, basically take over the entire sector, and turn you into a farm. They did take some action to make some resources protected, but it doesn’t save your army from being decimated by a barge with T9 troops, and you’re protecting with T5-6. The community can also be very toxic, their is a lot of political arguments due to most of the player base being from the Russian areas. So there’s a lot of Ukraine vs Russia animosity, and it just gets old. Sadly the devs ignore this ongoing issue by failing to ban toxic players even when the game has a report function , nothing happens. So if you like being someone’s farm, or have capability to spend $1000+ on the game, and can handle a toxic environment, if not, then find something else to play. ### 4/5 — READ THIS FRIST SERIOUSLY *2022-12-22, version 2.15.0* This is a great warhammer game with a real grind to gain forward granted you will take a seriously long time to progress forward without spending money on speed ups and micro transactions. Still worth a try if your into warhammer. Community is complete garbage it’s over filled with people who’ve been playing for a while and spending serious money on this game be careful playing there is a big majority of players getting newbies to build up as much resources as possible and getting them to join their alliance and have them move their base close to the alliance base and once your newbie shields drop they will drop you from alliance and barrage you endlessly and taking all that you have. BE CAREFUL ALMOST EVERY ALLIANCE DOES THIS I RECOMMEND YOU PLAY THIS GAME WITH SOMEONE WHOSE ALREADY BEEN PLAYING A WHILE THIS GAME IS NOT FOR THE UNAWARE EXTREMELY TOXIC COMMUNITY. But that’s the dark world of warhammer no hero’s no good guys. ONLY WAR ### 2/5 — Lower your expectations and you’ll be fine *2022-09-07, version 2.11.0* It’s the Wild West. Sure even if you join an alliance you’ll be safer but there’s nothing stopping a 28 crushing a 10 or any person on a lower level repeatedly if you’re occupying a space they want. The math also doesn’t add up in the Challenge Mode PVP events. Server 163 is a cesspool, you spend 11hrs building a level 5 unit and the hospital overflow isn’t good either so you lose everything quickly and it takes forever to get back even if you make purchases. At least those are small change but still, it’s a joke. Like I said at your own risk but when you’re not getting your base kicked in the game modes get repetitive and dull. ### 4/5 — Great game. *2022-07-12, version 2.7.1* This game serves its purpose. Login and complete what’s needed then you can log off. It has a lot of pay to get ahead options. The pay to win is hard to achieve because of how many features are required in the game. This will require really deep pockets. Updates are nice but gets glitchy after the general updates. They are good at compensating for the maintenance delays. In PVP, there could be some improvement for how you lose troops. A lot of players leave after being attacked because it completely depletes your power. Maybe start with percentages so it is not as difficult to build your force back up. That demoralizing factor causes players to quit and not come back because time invested is extremely high just to lose everything in a matter of 2-3 attacks from opponents. Void supremacy is fun! However healing should be as long as it is for a 1 hour event. I think the healing needs to be adjusted and squished for the void supremacy in order to keep it engaging and constant fighting. Overall, I love the 40k universe and the lore behind the franchise. PLEASE ADD IRON HANDS! ### 3/5 — No PvE+Pay to Win = Boring *2022-06-27, version 2.7.1* To be very clear I put several months into this game really trying to give it a chance. I enjoy the premise, I enjoy the artwork, I enjoy the lore, and I didn’t even really mind the speed of upgrading your fleet. However, to have the entire sector basically destroyed because a handful of players paid a couple hundred bucks in drastically outstrip the capabilities of everyone else was really annoying. You simply cannot defend against that. Also, the ability to keep your fleet protected even when you are not logged in is very close to impossible. I kept thinking that I would throw a couple bucks here and there but I could not bring myself to do it realizing that as much fun as I was having, there really was no future to enjoying the game long-term. If you don’t mind a constant stream of cash to try and keep up in the forced PVP, and you have the time to spend almost all your free time keeping yourself protected, the game isn’t bad. It just wasn’t for me in the end. ### 4/5 — Fun but expensive… and bugs *2022-06-13, version 2.6.1* This game is good if you are looking for something with a bit of challenge in it… the game if fast paced for the first 20 or so levels and then slows down as you go up… early game no money is needed but if you wanna do good in events and get good hero’s you will need to fork out the cash $$$… this game is complex and simple at times… the game can be very buggy but nothing super bad… I would recommend if your wallet is pretty full or just have a lot of money you really don’t care about… if your looking for free to play this game will spit you out and make you quite pretty fast… 31/2 stars. ### 2/5 — Customer service *2022-06-03, version 2.5.0* Great game. The players in my server (106) are great even after our merge. But the customer service is something to be desired. I got locked out of my main account and have emailed the customer support, I have messaged them on Facebook, and I have contacted one of the moderators of the Facebook page. I received a response 11 days ago for some information regarding my account but because of the time difference, my ticket was dropped. 11 days later and 11 emails later, I have not received anything from the devs. I don’t usually complain about things online, but I am the Marshal for my alliance and we have all to jump through hoops because of this incident. Plus the loss of rewards from missed events. There needs to be not just one way to contact customer support or numerous customer support centers based on locations not just one in China. ### 2/5 — Pretty cool while it lasted, random ban *2022-05-13, version 2.4.0* At first when I downloaded the game it was pretty fun. Your typical base building and resource hoarding genre game but with a warhammer face. Then the next three times I tried to play the server was down for one reason or another. Then I try one last time and I am now banned for a week after playing a single time :) so, fun while it lasted…I guess. The only reason I give two stars is bc it WAS kinda cool. Edit: Thanks for the reply…. Not. I can’t even get past the first loading screen so how am I supposed to access my settings? Also Iv seen reviews where they ban you after buying a cheap pack then take the crystals and resources back. That’s absolutely ridiculous I’m sorry I even spent that $1 on this game. ### 3/5 — Meh. Typical PVP/Resource Game *2022-03-11, version 2.0.2* Have you played any of the other myriad games where it looks like some kind of cool RPG or puzzle game and you download it to discover that it’s just a reskinned “Make city-get resources-train troops-get killed by bigger players-join alliance-pay money-have to check all day to make sure all your hard work and money doesn’t go up in smoke to a bigger player or alliance” game? This is that, but with a Warhammer 40K skin. I love WH40k, so of course I downloaded this and if I hadn’t been burned out on another version of this that I won’t name, I might have kept it up. But after a week of playing every day, and then getting roundly smoked by a series of larger players I had no chance of defending against, I’m deleting it. Maybe you’ll have fun, though. ### 4/5 — People complain but it’s better than most *2022-02-10, version 1.7.0* Everyone complains about whales and people with large amount of cash outspending others, well that’s the case for every city building game, but here’s the think before I spent my first dime in the game, I was able to reach my first 1m power in 2 days without spending anything, but I’ve seen players that I started with not being able to surpass 500k, it’s not the spending it’s the lack of knowledge, so I give 4 stars because it’s more balance/expensive than many other games making it less attractive to drop massive amounts of cash meaning big whales won’t be 50m-60m when the rest is barely 5-10m. It has its pros and cons ### 2/5 — Ok game, poor customer service, incompetent developers *2022-01-08, version 1.5.0* This is purely Pay-2-win game. They claimed it is a balance game, no it really is not. Those with money to pay will be the ones who lead and kill other alliances. The whales make the rule. You either follow or get attacked all the time. They release updates often and each update always introduces one or more bugs. Instead of trying to fix the existing bugs, the developers simply ignore them. They rush to releases new updates for new events so that they can try to sell more crystal so people can advance and win the event. This game will require you to be online daily if you are in the an alliance with a bossy whale. You will need to dedicate your precious time to be doing events each day. If you don’t, you will be kicked out. Or you can join less power alliance and being attacked all the time. How does that sound for a game they claim to be “balance”. They let old servers die and keep creating new servers so that players would move to a newer servers and start over and again spend more money. At the end of the day. This game is still a pay-2-win game. It’s fun if you like to spend money to advance and to stay on top of your peers and enemies. Spending $40-50USD is a good amount to spend per month to have fun. **Developer response:** We apologize if you feel mislead! The game looks nothing like what is being advertised. My last review also had this complaint and it looks like the developers just doubled down on blatant false advertisement. The game is still alright. The PVE mode isn’t bad. You unlock more missions when you level up. Adding the Chapters to the game was a nice touch. Each Chapter gives you different bonuses. The paywall is still a problem if you’re in a small alliance. The only way to alleviate it is to join a larger alliance that has control of resource nodes. Participating in events helps a lot as well. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — It’s starting to die. *2022-12-18, version 2.14.0* I’ve been playing for over a year and I love 40K, I’ve put around 45k in USD down on the game, I’m VIP 16, all my heroes are nearly maxed out, etc. the game caters too much to the big spenders, I’ve seen people instantly unlock the highest troop tier possible then turn around and wipe entire alliances off the map because they were bored. There’s only 7 or 8 free to play heroes who are immediately outclassed and outgunned by paid heroes. My server is dying again just because Maelstrom matching is so toxic nobody has a chance, how are you supposed to fight someone with 1.3 Billion power when the largest march you can throw out at once is no more than 18-20 million power, mind you rallies have max sizes too. It takes (with maxed out tech,) 20:15:00 to produce 270 T9’s for 210k roughly power. Don’t pick it up, just play tactics or stick to table top, the customer support team doesn’t even respond anymore. ### 1/5 — Forced PVP *2022-10-20, version 2.11.0* As has been mentioned by other players, you are at the mercy of the server whales. There is no defense against these other players, so you spend most of your time recovering from attacks, which takes days. Developers, why are there no servers for PVE only? Why is there no automatic shield after attacks like in Clash of clans? Your game becomes pointless when a player can’t progress because level 40 players with level 100 heroes come stomping around to let you know that you’re only there to feed them. The developer responds edit: you want to know what my problem with your game is? Did you read my review? Forced Player vs player or PVP. All players are forced to play on a server with other players whose power level is far beyond their own. These high level players can do whatever they like with little to no repercussions. New or low level players can be attacked multiple times by these high level players making it nearly impossible to advance. Why? Because every time you’re attacked your power level is reduced dramatically. This makes it difficult to do even the most mundane tasks because a player no longer has the troops to do them. And recovering your power level takes DAYS. Logging in to see your battle barge on fire and your power level you worked so hard for (by logging in day after day and committing time to doing so) be destroyed isn’t my idea of fun. **Developer response:** We are sorry to hear your disappointment with our game, and we hope to have the opportunity to apologize for this. Thank you for your support and understanding! ### 1/5 — Account stolen DEVs did nothing (sector 86) *2022-03-06, version 1.8.0* I was always big 40k player and loved this game and played it past its faults. I stuck with the game and played it for close to 250 days altogether, unfortunately my account was hacked. In the discussion with the DEVs they asked me to do whatever steps needed to recover my account. Another player has stolen my account and my alliance has told me. It’s been multiple receipts and messages proving I had ownership of the account and nothing has been done. I truly love 40k and made great friends in lost crusade but the DEVs are laughing because they have taken my money and won’t back this game anymore. They had lost my trust and I hope to the rest of the players of this game that enjoys it and the same don’t happen to you. ### 1/5 — Warhammer 40k but not *2022-03-02, version 1.8.0* Not much in the way of combat that feels like Warhammer, this is a mobile base building game that really slows down after you upgrade your “battle barge” to level 30. It quickly becomes a resource collecting game with themes and characters from Warhamner 40k. I really enjoyed it at first, and played hours a day, every day; but now I might log on every other week because nothing good happens. It takes forever to upgrade buildings and takes obscene amounts of resources to upgrade each time. Other players can wreck your army and put you out of commission for days on end, which slows the game down even more. I would only suggest this game to people who like the 40k story or characters and warn them to be prepared to loose interest around level 25. ### 1/5 — Terms and Conditions Contract. *2022-02-02, version 1.7.0* I would recommend NOT playing this game as their contract not only limits your rights but also allows them to make money off of your activities, feedbacks and other activities without compensating you all while under the strict understanding that they can terminate your acct at anytime for any reason without notice. All awards, assets, equipment or people you have used real money to buy will be deleted without any compensation. At which point if you haven’t done anything wrong & try to fight it you have to go only through arbitration and cannot file a lawsuit of any kind against them for wrong doing. (Except under certain circumstances & only in certain districts, provinces, or states in certain countries.) So basically your giving them the right to extort & steal from you which they freely admit to with in the Terms & Conditions contract. They are a Predatory Company and are only in it for the money & care nothing about you. So think carefully before playing. **Developer response:** We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding. ### 1/5 — Stay away - Pay to win / cash grab *2022-02-02, version 1.7.0* They give you a shield for a few days while they pepper you with free resources, basically free everything, and offers to buy speed ups for your base or items for your heroes for small amounts of money to get you hooked on to micro transactions. If you resist all that temptation like me and don’t give them a dime before the actual game begins then you’ll be glad you did. When I hit lvl 11 and as soon as the “freebie” base shield wore off, I was attacked by a lvl 50 pay to win whale and drained of everything. The cherry on top was my army was also decimated and had to pay to get them healed as well so more resources. The game was nice enough to tell me to try harder next time and gave me an 8 hr shield. Gee thanks, just enough time to farm resources for the whales to come and take again. No thanks!! I immediately deleted the game after this and good riddance! ### 1/5 — Constant PVP is stupid *2021-12-25, version 1.5.0* As several other reviews have mention, this game can be fun until it is time for the server events that the whales come out and obliterate all of us who haven’t spent tons of money for rapid advancement. I just finally had healed everything from the last event and got attacked twice be players I had no chance against in the space of an hour. Now I will spend the next month trying to heal everything that needs to be just to get screwed again next month. You really need to either cap the number of casualties that can be incurred, the number of times that a player can be attacked in an event or a limit for how much higher level character can attack. For example, my level 35 characters that are my base defenders, shouldn’t be able to be attacked by character that are at level 80+. The difference allowed should be no more than 10 levels. Ideally, all three of these changes should be implemented to improve player enjoyment. The number of battlebarge level 1 and 2 players on the servers should show that a lot of people quit playing when they experience this type of thing and I’m sure doesn’t lead to an expanding player base. In fact, I’m betting the player base is probably shrinking as people get frustrated with this type of thing. I’ve almost walked away from this game multiple times since I started in August and may yet do so if something isn’t done to address the chronic unfairness in the game. **Developer response:** We really appreciate your feedback. This game will advertise a in game pack of items for a certain price, in this case they advertised 1,500,000 crystals (the equivalent of 5,000 actual dollars) and some other items for a price of 50 dollars. After realizing they made a mistake, they temporarily ban anyone’s account that purchased the pack, and then they strip those accounts of all crystals including ones previously owned by the account or acquired through separate purchases. If you spent any of the crystals that you bought from the game and then they gave you, they then came back and added a negative balance to your account for whatever amount of crystals they could not claim back from you (again for the pack that they advertised and sold to you). So now your account is basically frozen and most of the actions you need to do are not doable because it will say you “have insufficient crystals”. Basically they get you to buy a pack for a cheap price, after you buy the pack they go back on their deal and now require you to pay more than the initially agreed upon price. Even if it was a mistake on their part, they shouldn’t have indebted peoples accounts for something they made a mistake on. Because some people agree to a 50 dollar price tag, they don’t agree to the deal suddenly changing after the developers realize it wasn’t a good idea to have a deal that good. Do not buy this game. Thank you for your understanding. ### 1/5 — Cant move account to new iPad, support is no help *2021-11-17, version 1.3.0* I recently bought a new iPad and all my game data for games such as Star Trek Fleet Command, Star Trek Timelines, World Of Warships BLITZ, War Robots, etc etc all moved over seamlessly. This game can’t do that it appears. Support says something about having to use a third-party login to move your data. What? I’ll be asking Apple to refund my purchases since I can’t use them on my new iPad. Too bad, the game is actually pretty good. Ashame I wasted all that time building up my base and heros. Also, the warehouse does NOT work at protecting your resources as it says. If you get attacked and lose, you lose everything. In reply to their comment below, yes, I contacted your in-game support repeatedly. Their reply was basically I was out of luck. Thank you! ### 1/5 — Server problem *2021-10-08, version 1.0.1* In our server the top 5 clans are allied. Which insinuates to the other clans, we can’t do anything without threat of getting decimated. One player is trying to compete valiantly, the individual spent real money to rank up to lvl 27. Heck I’ve spent $15 dollars. Nevertheless he’s not mighty enough to battle 100’s of players even with our aid. The exceptional clans have the superior players in them. Which indicates even if the inferior clans allied together or merged, we still loose. This will kill all your servers if the problem isn’t fixed. You should block the top 10 clans in each server from being able to communicate with one another. For an extra measure stop them from putting discords in their bios. Other than that stunning game 5 outta 5. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — For fun less work *2023-02-14, version 2.16.2* It’s getting hard to keep interest in game soon as I have troops to mine or do events , and player with a mass deference in power wipes out troops, can’t mine to gain resources to make new troops fast enough, can’t level up as resources are used for the troops replacement than building. In other games if played for over five years like Star truck fleet command, a player can only attack or be attacked within two ranks up or down, this game would be like a 35 and only be hit buy 33 to 37. Giving that player time to build up before popping to the next level. Love the game does not make sense why imperial forces are killing players of the imperium, would of thought it be like WOW hard vs alliance. ### 5/5 — Most balanced base building game *2022-10-01, version 2.11.0* I’ve been playing for a few weeks and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. These base building games are just copies of eachother, built and designed to be cash grabs. This one is the most balanced I’ve ever played. Whether youre a f2p player or you want to spend money, theres something for everyone in this game. As long as you remain active and get in a good alliance you can absolutely compete in all the events and get great rewards. Def you should give this a try if you’re into these kinds of games. If you’re a warhammer fan you’ll especially love the story and the lore in this game as well. ### 5/5 — Amazing game but… *2022-08-08, version 2.9.0* I have 9 legendarys but can only use 3 because if you get a rare legendary you have to star it up which is even harder than getting the character itself . I think legendarys should be a lot stronger that blue character who have stars . My shrike should be 10x stronger than a blue vanguard who has 5 stars. What I’m saying is stars should not be such a huge factor in power boosts or should be buffed for legendary characters. I’m power lvl 2million in game so i some what experience. Overall a very good game.9.8/10 p.s I should be able to use choas characters and choas prime arch’s. This game would attract so many new players if you’d let them pick at least what faction they’d like to side with. And those could then be used for more events like choas vs Space marines or something along the lines of that. ### 5/5 — Good game overall *2022-06-09, version 2.6.1* This is going to be short but all I am going to say right now is that I enjoy playing this game. The thing I like about it is that as a new player build time is fast and thats what I think is unique from other base strategy games is that they take a long duration of time to craft or build something. The characters look cool and are very lore accurate, I just wish there are more heroes like the Primarchs or other new heroes. I recommend this game to other people if you love Warhammer 40,000 in general and your a mobile person, may the God Emperor guide us! ### 5/5 — Beyond expectations!!! *2022-04-18, version 2.2.0* I downloaded this game over a year ago as a fan of the books and wanting something in the warhammer 40k world. Did not expect to play daily as I have, you can pay to advance or just grind and still be competitive. Every time there is an issue I start to see with game play their next patch addresses it and cleans up the game play as well. Cool challenges and also missions, good back story and if you join a clan a lot of active players. Just don’t be a lone unclaimed low level or you may become a farm for advanced players. ### 5/5 — A Gem of 40k gaming *2021-11-26, version 1.4.0* I’ve been gaming for years, and I gotta say this is the first mobile game I’ve played that not only leaned heavily on the source material but was also fun to play. There’s LOTS of management and LOTS of menus, and many little tricks to learn to make you a conduit of the Emperor’s wrath. Yes there’s a pay to win structure in place, you can easily drop money and become the greatest Marshal in your sector. But the devs were smart, everything you can get by purchase, can easily be grounded out and still enjoy the crushing drudgery that is imperial bureaucracy; an element also included in gameplay I may add. 40K games are all over the place. I was playing it with no issues, I’m already at level 14 and my battlebarge is coming along nicely. I have a cool alliance and everybody seems to work very well together. MY ONLY GRIPE at this point in time is that now, for some reason - I can’t launch the game from my iPhone 12 Pro. I have good internet connection. I have tried the repair button to fix. I’ve let it rest a while. And every single time I try to boot it up or log in… it just gets stuck at 70 percent. I’m not sure what to do. EDIT: this issue has been resolved and I am happy thus far with this game ### 5/5 — Pretty flippin good *2021-10-21, version 1.1.2* The game has been very entertaining and keeps me wanting to come back and do the daily missions and weekly events. The community has been very open and welcoming and my alliance members make the game as fun as it can be! Now I realize that this is an online game and some people can be mean about it and pay out the nose on the game. But the community has set server rules for some events and raiding players, and I appreciate that. I have played a lot of city/base building games before this and the fact the players are active and looking out for new players helps this game grow a lot! I highly recommend this game if you’re just casual about mobile gaming or if you are really serious, Lost Crusade welcomes all!! Lvl 13 strong hold and then game froze at 70% at title screen no matter what I did after trying to fix it on my own(note: contact support next time). Still, after losing all my everything, I just want to say that it was still a great game nonetheless. Good community. There are good guys and bad guys as in players in factions. It was all overall fun, really. Either way, hope others can give it a try. It is a really good game at the end of the day, sadly, I am moving on as I can’t take that time back. Hero’s are easy to come by, tons of mini games, collecting resources isn’t a drag or a bummer, especially once you get three marching slots. Warehouse and hospital don’t make attacks too draining and ruin the game for lower power players. Alliances are impactful and meaningful. Huge research tree to build. All in all one of the best free “RTS” games I’ve played in a long time!
