Today there are so many better solo options to scratch the RPG itch, so why play a trial and error adventure game with somewhat random combat? Nostalgia perhaps, but replaying the same adventure over and over trying to remember the right moves is exactly the downside of those adventure books that modern tech should be used to overcome, not enshrine. Game books were tiresome then, and now it is no different, except for the fact that there are so many way better game choices out there. Cool graphics cannot hide very mediocre gameplay. Time better spent elsewhere. ### 3/5 — I haven’t been able to land a hit. *2018-11-14* Look great but I haven't landed a hit yet. In this game you don't attack a space occupied by the opponent, instead you attack a space you think the opponent will go. Sound confusing? The gameplay was not fun either as you didn’t have much control over the fighting as it was more thought going into each move than there should be. I don’t think it lives up to any D&D games I have played before. The text was also too small to read and I felt I had to have my face right up to the phone to see. I waited a long while before purchasing this and grabbed it on sale. Glad I got it on sale as I would have been really let down by the game at full price. ### 5/5 — Gute Umsetzung der Buchvorlage... *2017-09-30* ...mit einigen deutlichen Veränderungen. Kampfsystem beinhaltet taktisches Element, das anfangs ungewohnt ist, aber schnell gemeistert ist. Der Storyverlauf ist von Charakter zu Charakter zwar immer etwas unterschiedlich, da man teilweise andere Wege gehen muss, um die charakterspezifische Quest abzuschließen, insgesamt jedoch leider mit der Zeit repetitiv. Frischer Wind bringt die Goblin-Erweiterung. Für Fans der Buchvorlage auf jeden Fall ein Muss, wenn man einen nostalgischen Ausflug in die Jugend machen will. ### 3/5 — Excellent game, buggy as hell *2017-09-14* The game itself is excellent. I ended up buying the "complete" pack which was $7 to unlock all the characters. But whenever I select Wilhelm the game crashes to home screen. Also, there are multiple graphics and interface issues. I contacted the developer and have gotten no response. Great job on the game but it needs to be supported better. Crashes like that should be absent especially in a great game like this. Fix it for 5 stars you Aussie maniacs. ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2017-09-10* The miniatures was a cool addition, but the game play is very disappointing. First off, a lot of times the choices you're given don't provide enough information to make an informed decision. Finding the best choice feels random, and it feels like you just get randomly punished instead of being able to make smart decisions. Secondly, I wanted to like the combat, but it's really not fun and just about learning whatever random pattern the monsters have by continuously restarting the fight to learn the pattern, or face running out of health before too long. Overall, the game is disappointing. ### 3/5 — Not bad *2017-08-02, version 1.1* It really suffers due to not having multiple game saves. Maybe they will fix this so you can play different characters without having to delete a game just to try another character. ### 2/5 — Presumable Scam and Lack of Contents *2017-08-01* While the game and battle system is combined fairly well, the extremely short storyline could only give you a merely an hour or two of actual enjoyment. They also claimed that there will be more contents in the future and charged more money, though it seems more and more like a scam as I personally have paid and sit through the first part of the game for almost a year and there are no signs of updates. ### 5/5 — Beyond d6 *2017-06-23* Full disclosure: I loved the game book as a child over thirty years ago. I doubt whether adding excellent visuals and a robust/tense melee system adds a great deal, but it's great the developer has done just that. With digital, each avatar now adds a different slant: embellishment profound over the dice and stats of the game book. Needless to say too good for kids, and a lot of fun. ### 5/5 — Sooo good! *2017-06-07* This game has the perfect balance of 'homage to the original adventure book', and update to modern adventure gaming. It also has huge replay-ability thanks to the number of heroes to choose from, their individual quests, abilities and the parts of the mountain they can access. I am thoroughly addicted and I just hope they recreate more of these classic books in this way. ### 5/5 — Great job!! *2017-06-02* You can really tell the team put a lot of love and thought into this game. Very enjoyable. Other app store reviews seem harsh - the magic of the adventure, story and decisions are all there and that's what it's all about! All the extras such as the Fighting Fantasy history are a nice addition. Thanks for making this game, I'd buy more. Интересные сюжеты, у каждого персонажа есть своя собственная линия и каждое прохождение воспринимается немного по-новому. That would have been fine then but I am not sure a lot of us like having to play the same levels over and over again like we did back then. Thats pretty much what you have to do get through the game. I stopped playing after my 20th time starting from the scrath again. I spent hours beating the game again and again with different heroes, and essentially, becoming better at the game and trying different solutions to the various puzzles. Just like the original paperback (hence, the 5 stars). I think you really need to be spot on with the combat to survive. That’s the key. Also, excellent customer support. ### 5/5 — A fantastic spin on the book *2018-07-30* Coming from someone who more or less owns every book in the series I have to say this digital remake brings book 1 to life in a way I would have never imagined. I love the complete visualisation of the mountain dungeon as you move through it. The combat system blows the original dice-only system out of the water, and gives you a fighting chance regardless of how low your stats are, too bad the books never had this. I bought the expansion set as well and think I’ve just about played through with every character. If I was to mention just one improvement I’d really love then that would be for a richer and longer dialogue that differs between each character and Zagor at the end. It seems such a shame to fight all the way through to the end just to have a showdown with him.
