I mean there are 58 maps to buy that’s over 230 dollars???? The game is cool but that’s a lot to ask for an oldie, especially when it is available as abandonware. ### 4/5 — Classic turn-based fantasy wargame *2025-08-18, version 8.59* This is an old DOS game from the 90s, updated with minor changes for the iPhone. You fight with stacks of troops, with combat modifiers for terrain, flying units, special (magical) units, and heroes. Captured cities generate income, which you spend to recruit and maintain different troops, so you have to choose the right troops, manage your money and logistics of troop movements, and plan your strategy and tactics while battling AI and/or other players. Heroes can also explore ruins to randomly get more gold, recruit magical troops, or get magic items for combat bonuses. The game auto saves as you go, which makes it a challenge, but you can undo every action since your last combat. I think it’s a great game, but there are two fixes that would really improve it. 1) In the original game, the AI would surrender if you have more than 40 cities, and they have 16 cities less than you. I’ve never had an AI surrender in this version, and it’s a bit tedious to play the game to the bitter end to get the victory, so I just quit when it’s obvious I’m going to win. So they really need the surrender feature in this version. 2) There’s no option to delete saved games. This one should be a pretty easy fix, and frankly, it’s a basic feature that any app with saved games should have. ### 4/5 — Needs better logic for battles *2025-01-05, version 8.39* Overall, it's a fun app. However, whatever algorithm is being used to determine battle outcomes in multiplayer is severely flawed. Be prepared for frustration when impossible battle outcomes become reality. I've seen a hero (at 7+10) with 3 demon units lose to a griffin and other ridiculous results. Otherwise, an enjoyable way to waste time. ### 5/5 — Alte Erinnerungen kommen hoch ❤️ *2024-12-22* Habe das Spiel zufällig entdeckt und natürlich sofort angespielt. Was soll ich sagen, für damalige Möglichkeiten einfach phänomenal. Jetzt spiele ich das Spiel immer auf einem 4 stündlichen Flug, automatisch Sicherung und auf dem Rückflug wird weitergespielt. Die Zeit verfliegt sprichwörtlich im Fluge und es macht eine Menge Spaß 🤩 Denke für die ältere Generation die selten spielen ein perfekter Zeitvertreib. Such a bad business practice! Also, during battles, armies are not always organized from lowest to highest army in terms of defeats and you wind up losing stronger armies before losing weaker armies. There’s only one thing missing: keyboard shortcuts. The mouse control was always good, the interface is slightly improved, and the only thing I’m missing is the keyboard shortcuts. Das Spiel an sich ist super. Habe das Spiel vor ca. 35 Jahren auf einem PC gespielt und spiele es auf dem iPhone immer noch gern. Nach iOS 18 jedoch schließt sich die Software abrupt, wenn man während des Spiels auf „Widerrufen“ tippt, wenn man aus dem aktuellem Spiel raus geht und ein „Neues Spiel“ starten oder ein „Spiel laden“ möchte. Manchmal stürzt es nach den genannten Punkten immer ab, wenn man die App starten möchte -> da hilft nur ein Neustart des iPhones. Das Spiel selbst habe ich bereits neu installiert, jedoch bleibt das Problem. Hat jemand eine Idee? Came back to find less available maps *2025-01-16, version 8.40* I loved the Warlords games back in the 90s. I was very happy many years ago to find this available and bought it. I spent a lot of time playing the various maps and then took a multi year break. I was in the mood to play it again only to find most of the maps I once played only available if I spend money for each map. Feels like something I once had is now taken from me. Feel free to charge extra for new maps, but taking away old maps and putting them behind a paywall is ridiculous.
