The app however is getting in the way of the mission. Please please please rebuild / repair this app before users completely throw up their hands and walk away. ### 1/5 — App simply does not work *2025-07-26, version 1.4.78* I installed the app, paid the $30 sign-up fee, and created my username and password. Since then, I’ve not been able to view the host network, I don’t even think the app is logging me in. I get no indication that I’ve logged in. For example, the menu options do not change, including that the login option persists (if I was logged in, I would expect to see the “login” option disappear or change to “logout” or something to indicate that I indeed logged in successfully. Additionally, I see no change in the map. There are no host locations or details, just a basic map. I wrote to Warm Showers the day after I paid my $30 and requested a refund. I never heard back. I’ve not bothered to use the app since & will never use it again. It’s a $30 scam, in my opinion. Steer clear! ### 1/5 — No hosts in Canada *2025-07-16, version 1.4.76* Paid the fee for the full app, hoping I could find some hosts along my bike trip across Canada, but there are no hosts that I have found in Canada. ### 1/5 — Sad *2025-07-08, version 1.4.75* I paid my one time membership fee and now it’s a monthly subscription!?! What a disgrace and disappointment, you had such a good thing going. Now you are just another sell out ### 1/5 — App des années 2010 *2025-06-18* Interface horrible, bugs… j’avais payé l’abonnement à vie qui est devenu abonnement annuel… Pourtant j’ai accueilli une trentaine de cycliste et avoir été une seul fois hébergée 😕. Bref le projet sympa mais 0 update.. ### 2/5 — Il faut réagir *2025-05-30* L’application est bien utile mais désuète. Il faut impérativement que vous lui redonniez un coup de jeune et surtout repenser l’interface entre hôte et hébergeur. Sinon cette application qui est unique, risque de tomber dans l’oubli. Un peu comme ceux qui s’y sont inscrits mais qui ne vont jamais voir si quelqu’un sonne à leur porte. Unusable ### 2/5 — App datée, *2025-04-23* Pour le prix je trouve l’interface franchement datée, on a l’impression d’avoir fait un saut dans le temps .. personnellement je suis plutôt en mode à recevoir les voyageurs et on me fait payer le même prix, ok mais ensuite à chaque connexion on essai de me faire payer un supplément ( a chaque connexion !) c’est usant . This is obviously critical despite all the other problems with this app. ### 1/5 — Subscription only *2025-01-01, version 1.4.48* Heavy overprised subscription model. Don’t fit well to the platform. Would be far more attractive, if the app would be once buyable for 10 bucks or so ### 1/5 — Worst App and website I’ve used *2024-10-15* WarmShowers used to work OK. Then they updated it and completely ruined it. The website and App are both horrible. I’m exclusively a host in Coos Bay, Oregon. Complaints: 1. Constantly soliciting for money - I understand that it takes money to run a service like this. But this is so horrible, I won’t donate. At least until it works properly 2. The third party thing - I’m performing a free service for WarmShowers and touring cyclists and I’m told third parties are privy to my info!? 3. Workings of the entire website & App are atrocious - failed notifications, expired requests after a few minutes, in ability of host to contact other hosts to coordinate, long periods of apparent outage (got only a few requests all summer and now getting lots in the fall). If there were an alternative, I’d happily switch. If anyone with tech expertise is thinking of starting one, sign me up. If I could award no stars I would. That being said, l love my guests. I seldom turn anyone away (I’m sometimes out of town) and 90% are international travelers - I really enjoy them. A very dissatisfied WarmShowers host on the coast. ### 1/5 — funktioniert noch nicht richtig *2024-10-14* Alle Ansätze sind da, aber die Usability der App ist furchtbar. Antwortzeiten sind zu lang, wenn man nach Hosts sucht, bekommt man auf der Karte eine kurze Übersicht, die aber mit dem geöffneten Profil nicht überein stimmt. es macht auch keinen Sinn, dass man Hosts angezeigt bekommt, die gar nicht verfügbar sind. Ich benutze die App nur, weil es sonst keinen Weg gibt, in der community zu kommunizieren. ### 1/5 — Un scandale !!! *2024-09-27* Utiliser Warmshowers pendant des années quand il était gratuit, puis être obligé de payer 30 €. OK ça aide le site et ça permet d’utiliser la plate-forme mais ensuite devoir repayer 20 € par an pour utiliser l’application. C’est un scandale. C’est clairement n’importe quoi. Vivement le retour de l’application ou même du service gratuit. Je ne comprends d’ailleurs même pas pourquoi les hébergeur doivent payer le service, alors qu’ils hébergent des voyageurs et qu’ils ont des coups même si ils sont récompensés par les rencontres et des échanges. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — APP doesn’t work *2026-06-10, version 1.4.85* Paid the $30 fee and the APP will not show hosts anywhere just 2 weeks after registering. I am on a tour across the US on the TransAmerica Bikenonstop. Essentially useless, contacting my credit card company for a chargeback, this is just money grab. ### 1/5 — Don’t use this service *2026-06-03* Warm Showers is NOT the same company it was years ago. They deleted their old database, so all the amazing connections I’ve made with hosts and riders is gone. The website no longer recognizes my email, but I sure do still get plenty of spam to that same email somehow! The app barely works, and WILL leave you stranded. And don’t be fooled by this whole non-profit classification they’ve managed to get themselves; they still get a salary for gatekeeping people’s adventures. Hence all the fees. We need to start a new service and a new community. ### 1/5 — Bad app. Needs to be fully functional offline including search and map etc . *2026-04-02, version 1.4.85* On a bike this app must work offline for ALL functions . It doesn’t . ### 1/5 — Cannot log in *2025-11-23, version 1.4.85* Paid $30 to open account on web browser, trying to log in on app and I cannot get in. Enter username and password, buffering icon for 1 second, then just gives up and shows a blank map. No error message or any notice on what to do. ### 1/5 — Full of bugs *2025-09-26, version 1.4.84* The app is full of bugs, login is not persistent. It feels like it was made with old 2000 libraries. Better to stick with Couchsurfing or, to stay in the bicycler community, try “Welcome to my garden” (not an app, but you can add the website to the homescreen from Safary and it will behaves like a webapp). ### 1/5 — Enttäuschend *2025-09-20* Das Portal ist toll und ich habe mit Warmshowers auf Radreisen tolle Erfahrungen gemacht. Die App hingegen ist technisch auf dem Stand von vor 20 Jahren und voller Fehler. Dass man monatlich Geld für die Nutzung bezahlt, ist problematisch, da die Fehler scheinbar seit Jahren nicht behoben werden. Schade, hierin steckt eigentlich viel Potenzial. ### 1/5 — Just Sad... *2025-09-06, version 1.4.82* ...what a once thriving and beautiful way to travel and host was done to by greed, incompetence and failure. I have had many extremely nice stays over warmshowers and the old model to pay 3€ for a month was also very fair as it also increased a barrier for fraud loggers. The App always had problems but now I can't even log in anymore and the fees are just astronomical. A stable app on the go *2021-02-23* I live the app and am so happy to see it is now available for my iPhone. I’ve been a long time user of the Warmshowers website and using the site on the phone can be difficult at times. With the app, I just open it, it finds my current location and I can see all of the hosts around me! I even get pop up notifications if someone sends me a message. Very cool! ### 5/5 — So blessed y’all have made an app *2020-12-21* Like all things in life I’m sure it will take a few tries to work out all the bugs through updates but I love the layout and functionality of this app. I can’t wait to use it once I get back on the road after this whole covid thing is over. We just released version 1.1.7 to the App Store which we believe resolves some of the stability issues being encountered. I was very reluctant with the new website and app but I have to say KUDOS!!! It has come a long way and I am excited to say I have hosted 8 cyclists so far this summer. Clicking on message tab will bring up my messages rather than just having it say “0”. It is not without its errors but much improved. I look forward to all the updates and growth to come. It crashed twice within a few minutes of installing. Hopefully this is an issue that can be sorted quickly. Otherwise the functions of the app look good.
