### 4/5 — ⚠️BUG REPORT⚠️

*2022-05-20, version 2.10*

Overall, I think warp drive is a very good game. However I have found a slightly problematic bug, sometimes when I jump from a ramp I will get sent back a to a part of the track that I had already been through. This game gets a solid 8.6/10 from me

### 4/5 — Awesome! Except when it stops…

*2021-08-22, version 1.07*

I downloaded this game earlier today, and the game itself is super fun and has amazing art style! But soon after like 13 races, it starts getting repetitive as it’s basically the same thing over and over. If there were some campaign added/variations added that would be wonderful. And the controls aren’t that hard.

### 2/5 — Can’t figure out details of the controls

*2021-03-14, version 1.041*

I want to like this game. I’m on a free trial of Apple Arcade and like the idea of this space ship racing game. The graphics are great but I can’t figure out the finer points. Like, ok, I am playing on my iPad, and I understand the right and left arrows on the screen are to steer but why are they labeled with the words “pause”? And, why is there a warp button on one side of the screen and a pause warp on the other. I’ve fiddled with them but it doesn’t seem that they are doing anything. What is the pause warp button for. And what are the diamonds for? This all makes it frustrating for me. Can some one explain this. I am older and new to gaming so it is not intuitive at all.

### 3/5 — Crash at Lvl 10 - Autumn Falls

*2020-12-13, version 1.03*

Crashes repeatedly and can’t advance. Honestly, the game has gotten really boring, I keep hoping the next race is going to bring something more. Seems like the devs mailed this one in. No updates in weeks despite users citing issues that most game-players are facing - turn controls too small, crystals not registering, super slow load times for a very basic game, elementary game architecture, etc.

It would be nice if the devs read the reviews and made some much-needed updates (especially considering the game is now non-playable for me).

As has been said repeatedly, it’s a dope aesthetic and has potential. Just feels like it’s only 25% there to a captivating game.

### 3/5 — Good start, needs more depth

*2020-12-11, version 1.03*

This is a really fun racing game with a slight twist on the genre. It’s really interesting and entertaining, but the AI doesn’t present any challenge whatsoever, and your “car” easily beats any challenge after the 15th race or so. I’ve gotten pretty bored of it because there is no real challenge on the tian trials or in actual races. Also, adding multiplayer would be a HUGE draw to the game. As of now, this is something I’ll leave installed and play every once in a while, but it’s not a go-to game anymore.

### 3/5 — Very content light

*2020-12-07, version 1.03*

Great mechanics, graphics and controls but as other reviewers have pointed out- it’s severely lacking in content.

1) No tutorial. It didn’t take long for me to figure out (through trial and error/observing AI) but I can see how for some it may be very difficult to understand how to play. Even the core mechanic of warping isn’t explained.

2) Completely linear progression. One race feeds into the next, no tournaments/cups. This could have been easily rectified by making things like time trials their own separate modes.

3) Vehicle parts are more unlocked than earned. You’ll always have an excess of cash unless you keep skipping races, but-

4) The game isn’t very challenging. Once you get a feel for the drift boost mechanic and memorize the warp points (which are very easy to find) then there’s no way you’ll lose.

This game has the bones of a very entertaining arcade racer but in its current state it amounts to little more than a time waster. There’s no real sense of achievement.

That being said, it’s an Apple Arcade game so there’s not a huge investment in trying it out. If you’ve got a long wait for your next flight it can help you pass an hour or 2.

### 3/5 — Very good base but, there’s some issues

*2020-12-03, version 1.03*

So playing the game the aesthetic, graphics, and gameplay is a very good combo for the general feel of the game. But I’ve noticed that attempting to steer becomes a very bad challenge early on in the game, turn to slow and you lose the race, Turn to fast and you lose the race. Unless you do precise turns you hit walls and slow down so hard there is no way you can get back on track early game, losing very valuable coins that can’t be attained again.

Also another issue is with some items their hit boxes are non existent, like a few times in the early races the item crystals were in all terms impossible to get, straight through, grazing, and even full on clipping into them. I wasn’t able to get the items, and my competitors destroyed me.

### 4/5 — Great addition to Apple Arcade!

*2020-12-02, version 1.03*

I have really enjoyed playing this game on my ipad. The art style is cool and overall has a good feel to the gameplay. I have only played with a controller but was a little disappointed that it doesn’t seem to support my nimbus+ on my m1 Mac mini.

### 4/5 — Fun racer that feels like it’s lacking

*2020-12-02, version 1.03*

Warp Drive kind of feels like a mash up of F-Zero and Mario Kart. You can tell from the screenshots/trailer that the visuals are awesome. Bright and vibrant colors flood the screen, as you blast through the courses. The controls feel really tight and responsive to me, playing on an iPhone 12 with a Backbone controller. The gameplay is fun, and mildly challenging, though it seems quite limited. I am currently 12 races in, and it appears that you can’t repeat levels or select any other level than the one you are on. I’m not sure if this changes once you complete a ‘tournament’. Also, the vehicle upgrades seem a bit lacking in customization.

I’d like to see more gameplay modes (allowing level selection, AI difficulty, and record tracking), more vehicle customization (ability to change the color of parts, or stream, add decals etc), and if possible multiplayer would be huge, though I understand that’s a difficult ask. Good game for what it is, and has tons of potential. Worth checking out for sure.

### 2/5 — Fun, but under-baked and buggy

*2020-12-02, version 1.03*

Exciting and full of eye candy, this engaging racer is lots of fun... for a little while. It soon becomes very repetitive with limited levels and limited upgrade options for vehicles. And once you reach the upper levels of the game, bugs appear that prevent other cars in the game from even starting the race. Other bugs include certain vehicle customizations causing the game to crash or register the vehicle as going the “wrong way” at the start of the race. Lots of room for improvement.

### 3/5 — Decent

*2020-12-01, version 1.03*

Look and feel of the racing is great. But the game feels better unfinished. Maybe they rushed it because what they did do looks good.

But there are only a few tracks and it never builds to any grand prixe or anything really. Just the same levels, same AI... you stop upgrading at level 10, which you can do in an hour.

There isn’t a very good upgrade system for your car either and it doesn’t really matter. After three races I never lost again and I beat 50 trials in row. So your car isn’t really important. But it would great if it was.

Would have liked for all the money you save to go towards buying cool upgrades but every three races they offer basically 3 random items, most of which are the same. And in the 50 races I played I didn’t have to alter my strategy at all.

Would like to see what they do next but this is fun for a couple hours then time to move on.

### 2/5 — Great aesthetics, but unplayable due to horrible controls

*2020-12-01, version 1.03*

Visually, this game looks like a cross between Borderlands, with a Miami Vice color palette, and Wipeout. Unfortunately, it fails miserably & repeatedly due to the essentially unusable on-screen controls. I find myself constantly slipping my thumb off of the tiny turn controls in the bottom left corner, which causes me to crash or get hung up on something & inevitably lose yet another race.

Ideally, there should either be multiple on-screen control options, or user-configurable controls. I’ve seen both done much better than this on many other games. Don’t reinvent what others have spent years refining.

I’d expect the review scores to increase once this incredibly basic issue is addressed.

### 3/5 — Potential is there

*2020-11-30, version 1.03*

It’s a fun game. Until you realise there’s only 4 levels and the upgrades don’t actually do anything but change the colour of your race car.

Will be a lot more fun when the storyline that starts at beginning actually goes somewhere other than endless races with no option to go back to previous ones.

Wanted to like it, but after an hour of playing, there’s no challenge anymore.

### 3/5 — So much potential to be a great game

*2020-11-30, version 1.03*

So for now this game is a solid three it has the bones of a great game but it does need multiplayer (local/online for the portable devices and online for Apple TV and MacOS) and the UI needs tweaks for better cohesion. The soundtrack needs work (I do edm: Vuitton on Apple Music I will give you some tracks for free). The game gets the feeling of a fast racer down really well and the level design is great as well. I definitely want this title do well since there isn’t many racing games on Arcade and this can definitely be a standout for the service.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — too many bugs

*2022-09-02, version 2.20*

I’ve been playing for a couple days now and one of my many frustrations is when I’m in first place and then the game glitches me back to a spot behind EVERYBODY and then I lose, and if you fall off of the map you just get stuck in some kind of endless void and it doesn’t put you back on track, please fix glitches.

### 1/5 — Good concept but near impossible to succeed - and that’s on level 1

*2021-04-14, version 1.05*

The game has a decent concept, but the preset controls are clunky at best, and impossible to master at worst. I can barely get past the first round, after what seems like nearly 50 tries, and quite frankly, with no tutorial or training levels, it feels like the game just lands you into the action and doesn’t care if you end up dead last on the same level 100 times over. No incentive to continue, and no satisfaction when you get to a goal, which is nearly impossible. There should be training levels and some type of a reward even if you end up last, not a chance do do it all over again and hope you do better, when there’s no chance to even improve.

### 1/5 — ZERO instruction on which controller buttons to use

*2021-03-12, version 1.041*

I'm really tired of developers putting out games where there's no place to see which buttons do what. I mean, how long would that take? I'm just supposed to bog through and hope for the best and in this case, I was asked by the game character "are you sure you have what it takes?". Well, no, I don't, because I'm not a mind reader.

### 1/5 — STILL Crashes

*2021-01-29, version 1.041*

Don't know what's going on. There was just an update and the game still CRASHES on event 23! Not sure why Apple is allowing this game to stay on the Arcade. I'm using the newest iPad Pro. The game has great potential-if it would work.

The art style and gameplay (when it works) is amazing. This is a game I would love to give 5 stars to. However, after about 4 levels in the game crashes every single time before the start of the race. I'll get the count down and the second it hits GO the game crashes. I'm running the newest iPad Pro- so power/storage should not be an issue. I really like the game, I hope the developers are aware of this and are working on a fix.

### 1/5 — A lot of fun, but a lot of show stopping bugs

*2021-01-12, version 1.04*

This is a pretty fun racing game, with a unique mechanic wherein you can warp to different parts of the race track. Unfortunately, it is also incredibly buggy. In particular, I’ve experienced two major crashes where the game crashes immediately when a race starts. Thus far the only solution has been to start a completely new campaign - which is hardly a solution. The one update since release has not resolved the issues.

If the bugs can get fixed, I imagine giving this game a much higher star rating.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work with controll

*2020-11-28, version 1.031*

I have an Xbox controller paired with my macbook via bluetooth. I'm able to navigate through the menus just fine but when I get into a race, the only thing I can do is turn or back up. I assume accelerate is one of the triggers but it's not working for me. My controller works fine as I checked its functionality with the "Controls Lite" utility which shows all buttons, triggers, and joysticks as functioning.

### 1/5 — Another Apple Arcade dud

*2020-11-27, version 1.03*

Just another bad title with the same standard Apple Arcade problems does anyone even test these “games” before they launch. This game suffers from poor on screen controls and an overall ugly look. Making me uninstall on the second race. I realize Apple Arcade is basically free for everyone and it’s whole mission was beautiful one of a kind experiences. I’ve yet to find one game that isn’t artistic trash.

### 2/5 — Good game, but game-breaking bugs

*2022-09-13, version 2.20*

Upon playing the game recently, I've noticed missles trailing behind other racers, but they never actually hit them, they either glitch out or turn around hitting myself. Another bug is when you fall off of the map, it respawns you WAY too close to the edge and you're stuck in an endless loop of constant resetting, the final one is when warping through grating, instead of actually going through, you get respawned back onto the track, thus creating yet again another loop, however, this bug happens on specific maps where the grates are elevated above the main track, Fix this please.

### 2/5 — Bugs and Crashes all the time

*2022-05-30, version 2.20*

Love the idea and style of this game but when I play it there are so many game breaking bugs and glitches that make it either impossible actually to complete a lap of land after a jump.

Here’s a few crashes and issues I’ve had.

- can’t actually finish a lap on a time trial as everytime I jump I physically miss the Finish line, fall through the track and respawn ahead not counting the lap
- crash while selecting new items to buy
- Get stuck infinitely respawning off course
- crash mid race

Several others. Not sure if map dependent or what but serious issues make the game hard, impossible or not fun to play.

### 2/5 — Incredibly fun, when it works.

*2021-09-04, version 1.07*

On the M1 MacBook Pro, this game looks beautiful and is a great time, but unfortunately it suffers from enormous amounts of glitches from the game literally freezing mid-race, to it just crashing right before you hit the finish line. This game is fun, but not fun enough to sit and deal with these game-breaking glitches. Fix your game. I expected better from Apple Arcade titles.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Super good game

*2022-09-25, version 2.30*

This game is awesome. You can tell it was very well developed and it is enjoyable to play. The mechanics of the games are super cool and fun to play with. Nothing against the game but, my phone turns into a thermonuclear bomb, I get 2 frames per second after 2 rounds, and it destroys my battery.

### 5/5 — Probably the best racing game in Arcade

*2021-01-17, version 1.04*

Fast paced, great graphics, upgrades, unique look.

My only suggestion would be alternative control settings, I don’t really like the layout but it’s workable.

### 5/5 — 😦

*2020-12-09, version 1.03*

THIS IS...
I don’t really know how to explain this.
The teleportation graphics are really cool, I love it, I admit at times it is hard to control, not very hard tho, but the loading I get because to load that whole map is hard, but if I have already played the map I don’t really get why it still needs to load a bunch. I also have one question because I have not finished this game cuz it like just came out:

Does it ever end? Like is there ever a championship race or anything? Because I try to get to the end every day and it just keeps on going and going. I think there should be a Quad Rotor Racer customization system, and maybe a neon map. Sometimes when I don’t have all three warp crystals I just pass through one and don’t get a warp crystal. Also just a suggestion: maybe a multiplayer, even though that it a HUGE ask. Overall love this game but one more thing for the players out there playing this game:
Sneak through the window.

### 5/5 — Lots of fun… needs some customization options

*2020-12-02, version 1.03*

Super fun little racer. The warp mechanics are a nice original touch. Visuals are awesome. Looking forward to more tracks… maybe? Also it would be great if there were some touch controller options… like tap left and right sides of the screen to steer, button placement, etc.

I also just discovered that this is split screen multiplayer on the Apple TV. What?! That’s awesome! Why is that not advertised anywhere?!

### 5/5 — Ideas For Features

*2020-12-02, version 1.03*

Super fun game! I’m already at level 10 and I’ve upgraded my racer to be a fantastic ride! I’d love to see multiplayer capability and more customization options for the racers. All in all, such a fun game and even though I’m almost maxed out on xp, the game is super fun to play and I can’t wait for updates!

### 5/5 — Great Racer

*2020-11-29, version 1.03*

From the graphics to the gameplay, this game is amazing. It’s a crazy spin on the battle type racers. It’s not your typical Mario kart type racer; it has a totally different style. Plays and looks great on my 12 pro max but definitely heats the device up but no thermal throttling so far after a few races. Seems optimized well enough for the apple A14 chip. Also, please allow us to change the main menu music to something without vocals; I can’t stand the vocal music when sitting in menus. Overall, amazing job devs.

### 5/5 — Very fun racing game

*2020-11-29, version 1.03*

Mix Mario kart 8 deluxe and need for speed and this is what you get. The teleportation theme is amazing and very useful. The touch screen controls are good. But I recommend a controller. The graphics are very unique and almost like a comic book. The missions are fun and the theme of upgrading cars and you manager telling you what to do make it even more fun. It also seems pretty challenging. On the first race I couldn’t even finish 3rd. Which is a great aspect. Definitely the best racing game in the App Store and on Apple Arcade. It beats sonic racing 500/1. I think it’s even better than Mario kart. Great job devs. Really good animation, racing experience, and more! This is my go to game for Apple Arcade. I pre ordered it as soon as it was announced. If you want this game, or just Apple Arcade I highly suggest it. And this should definitely be your go to game too. Probably best on Apple Arcade

### 5/5 — Great, beautifully animated racing game

*2020-11-29, version 1.03*

I’m not sure how anyone has rated this game a one star. It is a beautifully animated game and has excellent gameplay. There are a few small bug fixes that I’m sure will be addressed with upcoming updates. If you like racing games, definitely download and play this game.

### 5/5 — Event 53 crashes game

*2020-11-28, version 1.03*

Fix this game I got to this event with max level and good parts on quad racer and as soon as it starts the race boom crashes.

FIX IT! Overall it’s a good game needs a TON more levels. Because I already know every shortcut in all levels and I ben playing for one day

### 5/5 — Completely Satisfying Console Quality Racer

*2020-11-27, version 1.03*

Yes please, more of this.

From the super slick style, art direction and presentation down to the tight gameplay and controls, Warp Speed is exactly the type of game that Apple Arcade needs more of.

This console quality, futuristic, hyper stylized racer harkens back to the days of Wipeout, but with less floaty controls. The drift mechanism is also satisfying and its related boost system is reminiscent of Mario Kart drift boosts, in a good way. I don’t think you can stack boosts, but I’ve only played a short while yet. However, I instantly felt compelled to write a quick review to voice my satisfaction.

Kudos to the devs - and Apple, please put more games of this quality on Apple Arcade; it makes the subscription much more worth it. This game makes me so not sad.
