## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 4.0 — 2026-06-10

Warpic has been redesigned for a simpler, cleaner AR experience.

New in this version:

- Completely redesigned modern interface
- Faster photo-to-AR creation flow
- Removed account login for instant access

- Made the app lighter, faster, and easier to understand

This version focuses on what Warpic does best: turning your photos into shareable AR moments.

### 3.0 — 2025-09-22

AR Video Recording Fixed: Your saved videos now capture everything you see on screen—including your AR drawings, 3D text, and the portal itself! What you see is exactly what you get.
Smoother Experience: We've improved stability and fixed several bugs, making the process of creating and placing portals more seamless than ever.
Enhanced Live Portal: Stepping through a Live Portal is now a more immersive experience.

### 2.0 — 2025-09-19

The updated code introduces significant enhancements focused on improving AR stability, user experience, and architectural robustness. Key changes include a refined portal placement method, improved rendering logic for a more seamless visual effect, and more reliable session and state management.

1. AR User Experience (UX) & Interaction
Dedicated Portal Placement Button: Instead of relying on a generic tap gesture on a detected plane, the UI now features an explicit "Place Warpic" button. This provides clearer user guidance, prevents accidental placements, and makes the initial interaction more intuitive.
Reposition Functionality: Once a portal is placed, a "Reposition" button appears. This allows users to easily pick a new spot for the portal without having to exit and restart the entire AR experience.
Hidden AR Plane Visualization: The grid visualization for detected horizontal planes is now hidden by default. This creates a cleaner, more immersive view by removing visual clutter, allowing the user to focus solely on the AR content. Instructions now guide the user to aim at a surface before placing.
2. AR Rendering & Stability
Advanced Rendering Order: The createWarpicNode method was rewritten to use specific renderingOrder values for the portal's components (the inner sphere, the masking door, and the frame). This robustly prevents rendering artifacts, such as the inside of the portal showing through the frame, ensuring the "peek-through" effect is flawless and stable.
Robust Camera Permission Handling: The logic for starting the AR session is now encapsulated in a checkCameraPermissionAndRunSession function. This correctly handles all permission states (authorized, notDetermined, denied), preventing the common "black screen" bug that occurred if permissions weren't granted before the session attempted to run.
Improved Portal Entry/Exit Logic: With new vector math helpers, the app now more accurately detects when the camera crosses the portal's threshold. This makes the transition between the real world and the portal's interior world more reliable.
3. State Management & Architecture
Centralized AR State Management (AROverlayState): A new AROverlayState class, an ObservableObject, was introduced to manage all UI-related state for the AR view (e.g., isRecording, selectedFilter, isPortalPlaced). This replaces the previous local tuple within the UIViewController, creating a cleaner, more maintainable architecture that aligns with modern SwiftUI/MVVM patterns.
Reactive UI Updates: The AROverlayView now observes the AROverlayState object. As a result, changes to the state (like placing a portal) automatically and efficiently trigger UI updates (like swapping the "Place" button for the "Reposition" button) thanks to the reactive nature of SwiftUI and Combine.
4. Bug Fixes & Refinements
Image Orientation Correction: A new UIImage extension, orientationFixed(), has been added. This automatically corrects the orientation of photos selected from the user's library, resolving a critical bug where images would often appear rotated 90 degrees when applied as the portal texture.
More Reliable Video Recording: The VideoRecorder class has been enhanced with more precise timestamp management (recordingStartTime) and improved error handling, increasing the reliability of the video capture process and reducing the chance of failed recordings.
Streamlined Subscription Flow: The logic to transition to the AR view after a user subscribes has been simplified by directly observing the storeKitManager.isSubscribed property, making the flow more robust and less prone to failure.
5. Design & Feature Updates
Frameless Default Style: The free "Classic Wood" portal style has been updated to be completely frameless. This provides a cleaner, more modern aesthetic for non-premium users, making the portal appear as a pure "tear" in reality.
