### 2/5 — Good ideas, poor/incomplete implementation, fail game by a good developer

*2024-05-04*

To its credit, it has a comprehensive rule book (116 pgs) available to learn from if you wish. Based on rather lame gameplay in tutorial, bad overall design, & dire warnings of lost purchases in reviews, doesn’t seem worth it to me. With so many titles to try (including more by this developer) I can’t linger on less than greatness.

Concluding as I began, with praise: despite my low rating for this particular game, I applaud the dev’s ambition and determination to improve their app game-making abilities; as evidenced by widely varied output and really excellent core ideas. Making AN original app game isn't easy; the effort this developer has put into creating so many is truly remarkable. With more refined gameplay mechanics and other technical improvement, the dev has potential to make a truly excellent game in the strategy genre. Their originality is evident in a range of unique titles already.

In the meantime, players should keep in mind just how hard it is to build and maintain these games, with no guarantee of earning a dime. Support indie developers—meaning both individuals and independent small studios—when/however and with as much as possible, because we’re very lucky to have them.

### 2/5 — Unable to reload

*2023-12-21*

An enjoyable game, and I’ve purchased many scenarios. But I had to delet and reload the app, and now can’t reach the store, or reload any purchased scenario.

### 3/5 — Unable to reload

*2023-12-17*

An enjoyable game, and I’ve purchased many scenarios. But I had to delet and reload the app, and now can’t reach the store, or reload any purchased scenario.

### 3/5 — Perfect game just one problem

*2023-04-15*

It’s a really good game but you have to pay to play anything other then one map

### 4/5 — Idk

*2022-11-26, version 1.4.7*

It’s a really good game but srsly add some more well known battles and some naval ones too like midway Solomon Islands kinda of things

### 3/5 — Good game, but has issues

*2022-05-05, version 1.4.7*

Overall, WaW is a really good game. The strategy elements and replayability is top-class and the map design is usually pretty good. Speaking of map design, the Golan theater in Kippur 1973 is a massive white-and grey brick with no terrain or textures. Additionally, the RNG, while a nice feature, is often a bit out of control, sometimes rendering quality advantages such as those in Rhodesia 1972 and Six Days 1967 redundant due to the power of the game’s RNG mechanics.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2022-04-21, version 1.4.7*

I originally gave this game a ***** five star review, and still think it is a great system, very fun to play, and with ever expanding content, always offering new challenges. But having dropped a lot of money into the extra scenarios, I find that so many of them get stuck with a bug halfway through. It is normally something to do with one of the reinforcement cards which completely freezes the game. This was a known issue from when the game first launched on iOS, so they have had a couple years now to fix this bug, and have not. There is no way they should be releasing new content, which is often unplayable due to the same bug, without fixing it first.
Basic game works well, so it might be worth it just for that but some of the expansions like Spain and Switzerland, you cannot finish the game due to bugs. Buyer beware. I would gladly give this five stars if they could fix the problem!

### 4/5 — Not enough content

*2021-11-25, version 1.4.7*

Great game. But it would be 100x better if there were MORE FREE maps that were larger.

### 3/5 — Five stars if they had an option for infinite turns

*2021-09-18, version 1.4.7*

Let’s start with I love this game but I would love to see an option to have infinite turns. I always feel as if I am up against the clock especially in Berlin. for example the Germans can win every time if they simply pull back and defend Berlin the city until time expires. Also in many of the civil war scenarios it can be difficult to build an army especially as the confederacy. So I feel as if a option to enable an infinite amount of turns would make the game a thousand times better because then the Germans could not just fall back to Berlin and defend until the time expires and the confederacy could build up an army. Also for example in the battle of the bulge scenario the allies would be able to counter attack and push the Germans back instead of how it turns out where the Germans push them back almost to the edge and then they attack and capture a few towns then time expires. Please please add it as a option where you can enable it.

### 4/5 — First Time

*2021-06-18, version 1.4.7*

I am compelled to write a review for the first time because this is the game I’ve been waiting for. I love strategy games and there are several good ones in the App Store, but for me personally this one is it. Mainly because of the nostalgic feeling it has to it. It reminds me of the classic table top strategy games that my friends and I used to play as teenagers. I have purchased close to a third of the maps (scenarios) that are available and have enjoyed very much the ones that I’ve played so far. I will be editing this review with a fifth star if more maps/battles are added in future updates. Speaking of which…suggestions…Gettysburg, Isandhlwana, and Stalingrad would be a few awesome battles to recreate. Or maybe a mid 80’s NATO vs. Warsaw Pact Scenario like the movie Red Dawn. That would be so cool. Any way keep up the good work!

### 2/5 — Issues

*2021-06-05, version 1.4.7*

This is a great concept for a game, and I would love to see it at full potential. Currently, however, it is near unplayable for a couple of reasons. There are a lot of bugs I’m encountering, most of which require me restarting the game. Also, the tutorial covers very little of the actual gameplay, so the game is basically self-taught, which is annoying considering how complicated the strategy is, and how much you have to think about. I would be much happier to try to learn this game if there weren’t so many bugs.

### 2/5 — Great but a glitch?

*2021-05-18, version 1.4.7*

I’ve run into an issue in the Normandy game. When the German has the Certainty on the New Front card in play it will display a unit to bring back to full strength but you can’t select any and can’t advance the game, you are simply stuck and can only quit the game. A shame really. Not sure what combination is causing the issue.

### 4/5 — Frustration

*2020-09-18, version 1.4.6*

Scenarios do not end when criteria for win are acheived.

### 3/5 — Good game Vietnam

*2020-04-02, version 1.4.6*

Good game but make the tutorial a little less complicated. Also since you have a Korea map make a Vietnam 🇻🇳!

### 3/5 — Avoid

*2020-02-29, version 1.4.6*

Wiped out my purchases and won’t restore...avoid.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Store not working

*2024-06-13*

A year ago I bought over 10 scenarios and I would have given this game 5 Stars, but I went to play one of the games and the store blocks all of my attempts at playing any bought scenarios. If this issue isn’t fixed, I will be losing the $20+ I put in, which is very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Store not working.

*2024-06-11*

I really like this game, however after purchasing new scenarios they cannot download. There is an error saying cannot connect to store. On my other device I installed and reinstalled. The app cannot connect to store and isn’t even able to list available scenarios. At this point I have paid for content which I cannot access, there is no news or update saying server maintenance so as far as I can tell this app is bugged and unplayable for new downloads and cannot in good conscious not warn perspective buyers. If issue is fixed I am more than happy to update my review, been playing this game on steam for a while and have loved having it on mobile. App support link goes to a 404 page as well.

### 1/5 — Good but very limited

*2024-05-03*

When I got the game I was excited because I finally found that turn based strategy game I was looking for. But when I saw that all u could do was D-Day and Battle of the bulge tutorial I immediately lost All excitement off the game. The only way u can play other games was if u paid for it and that sucked.

### 1/5 — They steal your money and don’t give you anything

*2024-03-16*

I paid for Bulge 44 and received nothing. The base game won’t update. I shoulda known something was a-glitch when they haven’t updated the app in nearly four years!

Do not buy. They’ll take your money and give you nothing in return.

### 1/5 — Unplayable

*2023-12-26*

The game is dead and developer abandoned. You cannot reach the store to make purchases or restore previous purchases. No updates to fix this issue. The game was an enjoyable pass time while it was operational, but now it will be deleted.

### 1/5 — WILL NO RESTORE PURCHASES AVOID!!!!!!

*2023-12-04*

Played and loved this game for about 2 years only to come back and find all my maps I’ve purchased are gone and the game refuses to restore no matter what. It always says it’s the internet but that clearly is not the problem. Reading a few of the reviews led me to find that this has actually been an ongoing problem with this game for at least 3 years which is absolutely ridiculous .

### 1/5 — It’s mediocre

*2022-04-11, version 1.4.7*

You only get two maps for free, those being Operation Overlord and the fictional battle for Innsmouth, one of which you must download. Normandy isn’t even that realistic, considering the beaches all have only 1 unit and a couple bunkers to bust. Mediocre gameplay, historic inaccuracies, and pay to play make this an all an all bad game. Do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Won’t open

*2020-02-23, version 1.4.6*

Just recently downloaded and purchased three additional campaigns. Went to open the app today to play for the first time and it immediately closes.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2019-03-03, version 1.3.0*

Nothing says fun and realism like watching allied aircraft in stacks of 5 come in and obliterate all my tanks and infantry with impunity turn after turn... would love my money back. Way too much “gamey” tactics and rng luck, at least in the Normandy scenario.

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY

*2018-12-27, version 1.1*

You are basically paying 2$ for a tutorial and ONE other map unless you are planning on spending at least 10$ more to give you more maps and scenarios I recommend you do not buy it

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Delay on promised game.

*2023-09-11*

When can we expect the Easter Rising to be available for purchase?

### 5/5 — Love it

*2023-07-10*

As a history buff, this game is super accurate in it’s historical events. And it is fun to play and watch as your army crushes the opponents into the dust. I wish some of the battles would be free because some people Don’t have the time or money to spend a dollar on one battle and never play it. One dollar is not a lot but all the battles, geez. But I love would recommend to anyone looking to sharpen your mind and even learn strategies. WARNING, easy to get addicted to :)edit:please add the Vietnam war, kursk, and more end of ww2 when the Soviet Union would launch offensives and also add ww1 battles and more American civil war battles, and maybe sea battles?

### 5/5 — Love it

### 5/5 — Review of WARS ACROSS THE WORLD

*2022-11-14, version 1.4.7*

You guys have done an amazing job with the game, but I would like to see more WWI like the Somme or Verdun, maybe even a battle for France or Norway.

### 5/5 — Excellent game!

*2021-09-08, version 1.4.7*

Reminds me of the old card stock strategy board games. Nice selection in scenarios through time. Look forward to expansions and hopefully a Vietnam era!😃

### 5/5 — Really fun

*2021-08-18, version 1.4.7*

Really fun game actually, really wish they would fix the Switzerland scenario. Add some like the Franco-Prussian War, maybe the Sino-Japanese wars scenario’s, lots of options for them to continue adding.

### 5/5 — Facebook postings and updates

*2021-04-30, version 1.4.7*

I noticed there are new Modern Warfare and World War games. I’d like to have Serbia, Burma, Midway, and Yugoslavia (Bosnia & Kosovo)

### 5/5 — Great!

*2020-12-27, version 1.4.6*

Great game!

### 5/5 — A Great Addition for Mobile Wargamers

*2019-12-16, version 1.4.6*

This is a fun set of games. I have not played all of the scenarios, but the few I have played have been quite enjoyable. The system is simple enough to pick up quickly and has some intricacies to master.

### 5/5 — Solid game with great variety

*2019-08-04, version 1.4.6*

An excellent ‘platform’ for a variety of ages. Game delivers a simple yet satisfying campaign system with extra nuance from cards and period flavor. A bargain for less than a cup of cheap coffee...most impressive.
