You can finish the “story” in about 2hrs ### 4/5 — Great game *2016-04-13, version 2.0.1* Lots of battleship action but still has a few bugs on the newer phones accelerometer steering gets stuck sometimes and your ship get stuck turning in circles ### 4/5 — Good game but... *2010-06-15, version 0* This is a great game and a great way to pass the time, but is very repetitive. Don't get me wrong, I like this game alot, but I can imagine amazing updates. 1. I think that you should be able to build up a fleet rather than having one ship and trying to take out, what, 9 or 10 ships with three lives, you would need more enemies or else it would be unfair but I have played other sailing/warship like games that you build a fleet 2. You should be able to really sail, not shoot it out in a little box but just be sailing ( with your fleet) and then you are ambushed by a pirate fleet, or something along those lines, you take them out and then sail into port and repair you ships, or buy new ones. All of that would be basically making a new game, but it would be epic. ### 3/5 — good game but missing many features *2010-06-11, version 0* The game can summed up as pick a ship and fight 3-4 waves of ships. Collect barrels for money and buy bigger ships. Rinse repeat. There's not much beyond that. It seems as if this was more a demo than a game. There's no story, no real framework for the gameplay. It's fun if you like sailing warfare. The game really needs more to flesh it out into an actual game otherwise it's more like warship solitaire than anything. You have 3 lives essentially to try and clear out a map of enemy waves. But there's no goal beyond sink the other ship and collect money (from barrels you get from blowing up other ships). For a sailing ship game it's missing wind impacts, your ship moves at a constant rate regardless of orientation. The sailing area is more like a an arena; it's a relatively small square area demarcated by buoys. Your ship can't move past the buoys and runs into an invisible wall. No collisions. No boarding. Just you and 3-4 enemy ships (you get a friendly ally(ies) on some "maps". All that said it's a good foundation. If it's no more than 1-2 bucks it's worth it. ### 4/5 — Fun but too challenging *2010-04-16, version 0* This app is great fun and fighting other ships is exciting but beating the level is very difficult. I am stuck on the second area. I have a fully upgraded Santa Maria, and I still can't beat it. There should be difficulties that you can select. And if you are goorusoft and you read this review, do not make the current difficulty level easy. If you can't make difficulty levels, just make the game easier!!! We should also be able to choose which side of the ship to fire. I frequently have the problem of the wrong guns going off. The system right now is efficient but it is definitely not perfect. More ships would be good and we should be able to zoom in and out on the ship. Consider these ideas and you have the perfect game. Please listen! ### 3/5 — Needs more levels *2009-09-01, version 0* The concept is good but gets boring very quickly after you have got hms victory and beat level 8. I would have give 4 stars if the game had more levels and some changes to the fighting arena. Right now it's restricted to one small square and that gets boring in a few hours of play. Should allow to transfer points between two different stages or levels. I have accumulated loads of points in one of the stages but do not want to go over the whole process in the other stages. But after some time of playing, I must say - bring more updates =-) I have all the ships, all maxed out and now, just making money..... Requests: 1: Remove the border - all the other ships can go there. 2: When I am destroyed, do not bring back my new ship in the middle of the battle with no ability to fire back... 3: Allow me to choose what ship to fire at.. Currently it shoots at the closest ship and sometimes, that closest ship is the mini-pirate boat - so instead of shooting at the enemy, which is firing at me, I shoot at the harmless pirate. Great Job GUys!! Bring on more battles!! ### 4/5 — Cool little game! *2009-08-14, version 0* I like it! I can see how some people would say it gets boring because of the repetitive simple concept. But its fun in the same way checkers and tic tac toe are fun. Its a neat little time killer that is easy to get into and out of if need be. To the creator: I would ask that there be more levels and possible a level complition indicator to show what levels are cleared. Also it might nice to call the levels something different rather then area 1,2,3... Something fun like deadmans pond or pirates sea or watersgrave. Something that indicates a sense of varing degree of difficulty per each area. And, block some levels that can only be played after a less deficult level it beat. ### 4/5 — Exceptional *2009-08-11, version 0* This game is just about everything you could want in a mobile game. However, I have withheld the fifth star because there are a few improvents that would enhance the game. First of all, I have accidentally deleted my profile twice because the delete question box looks exactly like the would you like to use this profile box - this has been a source of some frustration! Secondly, the levels need to be harder - I have beat level 8 multiple times with a light carrack, enough said. Finally, it would be nice to have some more levels. But, overall great app - keep up the great work! ### 4/5 — I find I play this game A LOT *2009-07-29, version 0* I love this game, and so does my 11-year-old son. The interface is super easy (I recommend using the tilt steering, not the virtual wheel.) but the levels are still fairly challenging. They do need tweaking, though: once you've maxed out anything from the Frigate on up, level 7 & 8 are pretty easy. Still, even though I've maxed the HMS Victory, I find I play this game frequently anyway, as an enjoyable pastime. --It replaces Solitaire and Cubes, in that regard. If you're looking for a hard-core gaming experience, though, this isn't going to be it. WarShip is an excellent diversion, not an obsession. My wish list: multiplayer capability in both competitive and cooperative modes. Terrain and a larger playing area. I'd like to attack and be attacked by shoreside installations, too. A challenge level, where the enemy ships don't stop coming. Weather (wind, current, storms). Ooh! --How about a sea monster? ### 3/5 — Great game marred by bad bug *2009-07-24, version 0* First off, I love this game. So far I am playing it a lot more than any other iphone game. I've had the game for two days, and already beat regions 1 through 7 and unlocked all the ships except for the last one. I think it's fun and challenging enough that I find myself over the last couple days playing it whenever I have a free moment. My one critique is not with the game itself, but a bug I encountered about 10 minutes ago. I turned the game off to give my wife my full attention, and when I logged back in my saved game and all my upgrades were gone. The game had reset back to the beginning. Now I have an iphone 3gS 32 gb model and probably have only used about 3 or 4 gb of memory so far, so I don't know what happened. My iphone didn't feel particularly warm or anything, so I don't know where the problem lies. I only know that it is EXTREMELY annoying to lose your place in a game and have to restart from the beginning. Since I haven't had any previous problems with my iphone, I'm gonna have to chalk this one up to a very nasty game bug...one that needs to be corrected immediately. ### 4/5 — Love for it *2009-07-23, version 0* I love this game but it takes a long time to get gold so maybe add more gold per barrel and add a survival mode where the ships don't stop coming. But make different difficulties for it. And tie the gold from there to the other mode also make it on the fleet levels make so the other ship can collect gold for you. And maybe make it so you can choose your ship. Add davie Jones in to it or something new because it's really boring ------update------ SPOILER THIS IS AN EASY WAY TO FINISH THE GAME. if you don't want to know how to do not read. If you do proceed to step 1. 1. Buy the Santa Maria and upgrade guns and sails to level 3. Upgrade the hull to level 2. 2. Go to final level (8) and play it a few times. Learn the order of ships 3. After learning the order of the ships play and keep your two ships alive. Depending on how good you are you can get 1 Allie ship to the last lvl. 4. Take down the 3rd rate ship of the line and avoid cannon fire from the others. 5. Pick off any remaining ships 1 by 1. Do not get bunched up into a group you are bound to lose. Using this tactic you can have the biggest and best ship in about 30 min and you can finish the game in about 1 hour. Because you can jump from 1 to 8 and still make money it would be wise for the developers to put locks on the levels. Because you don't have to actually play the game warship get 3 stars out of 5 ### 2/5 — Could be so much better *2010-08-29, version 0* The simplicity of this game is it's strength. Tilt to steer and tap to fire the cannons, it doesn't get much easier than that. However, there are some things about the way it's laid out that make it annoying to play. During gameplay, once you loose one of your ships, you're dumped back into the middle of the battle field. If the enemy ships happen to be there, they will nail you constantly while you wait for you canons to power up. Also, the enemy ships can fire at you while they are out of bounds. Both these just aren't fair. There have also been times when I have positioned myself next to an enemy ship, fire, and it shoots from the wrong side of the boat, with nothing there!! On top of that, what's the point of unlocking the last, most powerful ship once you've completed all the areas? With a little more thought, this could be a great ap. Now, so-so and not worth 2 bucks. ### 2/5 — Not Quite There Yet *2009-05-30, version 0* Too hard; can't beat the First Level or unlock anything. It's a beautiful game with good "tilt" controls and great sound, but needs work to stay on my Game App screen. Suggestions: Since the player starts with a larger multi-sail heavily-armed boat, we should be faster & do more damage (but be less maneuverable) than the smaller/slower/weaker ships. As it is the "enemy" does as much damage as you do shot-for-shot, so when it's 4-1 there's no way to advance past Level One. You should be able to "repair" your ship with the gold recovered, or over time if you avoid getting shot (like dowsing the fire, etc.) It would be cool to see some damage (holes in sails, lost masts) if possible. You should be able to aim which side of the ship you want to fire your cannons, so you can have two broadsides going back-to-back. The AI doesn't understand when you wan to shoot an enemy vs. the pirate ship. I hope an update comes out soon that makes the player competitive again, otherwise this app will be off my iPhone & into the frustration graveyard. ### 2/5 — Great time killer but... *2009-05-13, version 0* I played it until I bought and upgraded all the ships... NOW I need more ships.. missions... and I HATE the barriers and lack of any interesting features on the sea... maybe an island or shoals..? ...and come on, when would you possibly be cornered in the open sea??? Get rid of those barriers.. Fix the shooting direction choice thing... did I say get rid of the barriers...? add more levels, ships, upgrades, different weapons... how about a story-line and some spcific missions? How about the ability to make repairs while underway? That way you could keep fighting and you could buy the repair supplies between missions... I could get to love this game if it gets better... Keep updating this one and it could be an extremely good game. I enjoy the sea battle but this game could be so much more. More ships. The ability to scuttle ships to sell or keep. The ability to have a fleet (more than one ship) A.I. can control all but players ship. New locations and survival mode. Ability to purchase multiples of the same type of ship except one of a kind ships like the HMS victory. Would like to see famous pirates ships in the game. ESP "Queen Anne's Revenge". more stars if game gets updated and content is added. ### 3/5 — Old *2012-01-28, version 1.75* This game is incredibly fun but I have unlocked everything and leveled up all the way. Could there be bigger and stronger ships then the HMS Victory, higher levels, the ability to choose which side to broadside from and the ability to broadside from both sides at the sane time, could one of the higher ships have the ability to shoot from the front and maybe the back, and last of all could there be a level where you continue to play until you die each time a harder wave of attack? I would appreciate if you thought about these upgrades because this game is really fun but... It has gotten old and boring for me. Thank you. ### 3/5 — A shame *2010-11-01, version 0* I bought this app when it first came out. I fell in love instantly and was seriously impressed. It's totally worth the money!! I give this game 3 stars because of the potential the dev is failing to exploit. Pleeease give us more maps (with landmasses and islands), more upgrades/ships/etc., a storyline (that actually ends at some point?!), a survival mode, the ability to have more control over which direction to shoot, and please please pllllease add multiplayer!! If they added these aspects I would give the game easy 5 stars and would pay $10+ for it!! It would be soo super sick but yet there has been very little updated content so far :( To the dev: you can make this one of the hottest games on the idevice hands down... easy. The ships and graphics are awesome and the controls could not be better. I strongly recomend getting it. A couple of things that might make this game better are: If there were land forms like shorelines and islands, if there were on land enemy forts, if there were a few more complex missions such as capturing enemy ports, escorting cargo ships, historic battles, capturing islands with treasure, etc. These changes would make it truly awesome. Overall a great game though. Good job! Seriously tho, we've been waiting for new levels for forever. ### 5/5 — New update plz! *2011-05-04, version 1.71* This game is the best but things to make it better would be you can spend a dollar and get 2000 money's not just initial money! And play online with friends you can fight or they can be the ships that help you and group fighting team battles! Love the game guys let's make it better! ### 5/5 — Great Game Concept. *2010-06-11, version 0* Okay, if your one of those people who love sailing warefare games, then this is the game for you. 8 levels, and 10 ships that you can buy, plus a decent ship that you start with (11 total). The game play at the beggining is very difficult because you stuck with a beggining ship and dont have much money. However, once you begin to upgrade, and get more sailing experance, the game becomes truelly fun more enjoyable. I strongly suggest buying this game, even though the game play is basic, it gets the job done. Suggestions to the game makers: 1) through in an endless mode in where you have to fight off every type of ship in rounds, but increase the difficulty as the rounds go by: (ex round 1: 3 pirate ships, but near the later rounds like round 20 3 1st ship of the lines) 2) You should add in islands or small land masses to add a new aspect to the game 3) Pirates should be able to attack you on round 8 (it was pretty easy for me, and i only had a fully upgraded spanish gallon) 4) Your ship should fire at the strongest ship, not pirates!!! (this becomes annoying when you dont have any more lives and are about to die) ### 5/5 — An amazing game flying under the radar at the itunes store *2010-05-16, version 0* This is a phenomenal game. I've spent so many hours on it that I've lost count. The gameplay premise is quite simple, but exceptionally addictive. You have to constantly work to maneuver your ship into the best possible firing position to destroy the other ships, all the while avoiding their cannons that are blasting away at you. Controls and maneuvering in this game are extremely fun to master and use. I'm not a fan of the accelerometer option, instead preferring to use the touch screen controls, another piece of praise for the developer for allowing me to chose which! I wasn't sure I'd be a fan of this game, but as it is I find myself coming back to it over and over. There are enough ships to unlock, and upgrades and customizations to your ships that it encourages repeated game play. As of the time of this review I still have not beat the game but I assure you that I will be playing until I do. Even on an iPad the graphics look great, the 3d engine for this game is exceptional and something to truly be enjoyed on both and iphone and ipad. I have no hesitation giving this game 5 stars (and I do not give many 5 star reviews), and recommending it to anyone with an iphone/itouch or ipad. Great job on a fun game! ### 5/5 — Good as it is, but update would be excellent *2010-01-22, version 0* Controls are fine, upgrade system is fine, not too hard, not too easy, I don't know what people are complaining about!! I do agree with the person who said you could make it so that you had, say, 11 ships for different eras, starting with the current 11. And of course along with that, more arenas. I also think it would be cool if the pirates got better ships progressing through the levels. Like maybe in level eight the pirates would have frigates. I would also suggest a change where the pirates shot at you, but the enemy ships were going for the pirates as well. Anyway, a message now for people who are considering buying this app, BY ALL MEANS, DO!!!! I've noticed though some times when I tap on one side of the screen it shoots on the other but rarely happens I don't know it might just be me but otherwise I don't have any other complaints so go get the(two dollars) and buy it because it's grate!!!!!!!! First I believe this app should be more customizable, I think there should be more weapons the ability to board other ships and use your crew to overpower the others. The ability to ram other ships, no go through them. And finally the ability to turn off auto aim so you can shoot the directions you want, maybe half of the cannons on one side and the other side so you can shoot on both sides. More ships more upgrades and maybe a level editor if you can get around to it! All in all get this game it's a great game that I am proud to play!
