This application provides you with offline maps for Washington D.C. with features such as searching and ROUTING without the need of an internet connection Note: the map is taken from www.openstreetmap.com which is the wikipedia of map and if you find any errors in it, you can fix it going to the openstreetmap webpage! Why Offline maps? It allows you to extend your battery life and lets you save from paying expensive roaming charges when traveling. Why TRUE offline maps? Because it is the only application for the iphone that will allow you to have + (Full Version) unlimited city downloads (you can download ANY city in the world and more: you can download part of a city, or even country side). The current zoom available is enough for cities, not entire countries... Though I will be adding the option to append new maps to existing maps in order to have much larger areas! + offline routing for any place you download. It doesn't preload routes, but calculates them without the need to be connected to the internet. + offline places of interest (POI) for any part of the world. You don't need to buy additional packages to get POI, everything is there when you download it. + offline search: search for street names and places (house numbers coming soon). + (Full Version) collaborative mapping: You can add new places of interests and share them with the world! It was just literally a map with none of the major landmarks. It had streets and neighborhoods labeled but no Washington Monument, State Capitol, not even the White House labeled! Went to national mall, zoomed in--all streets, no building tags. Have to go into useless submenus, etc. google maps is better. Heck, Apple maps is better! ### 2/5 — Meh- might help in some circumstances *2013-08-04* It gives you a map, which is legible, but lacks names of buildings, attractions, etc. you can search for attractions in a list ordered by distance, but you can only see then on the map one at a time. I could see using this if I had no data connection at all, but its frustratingly limited compared to using something like the google maps app. This version seems to be a teaser for the premium version, maybe it's better but this preview didn't make me interested enough to upgrade. ### 2/5 — Portrait Mode Only *2013-02-10* Why doesn't this app change to landscape mode on my iPad?
