### 2/5 — Disconnect

*2020-11-04, version 6.0*

I enjoy the content about my hometown folks, especially media folks. However, when there was a problem accessing my “digital” subscription help could not be found. “...sorry, you’ll have to call Apple!…” or “...oh, you’ll have to call the 877 number”. “…Do you know the account number...what is your name again, please spell it?” So, no real solutions except to task the subscriber, or potential one, to check here and there. I believe the quality content of your magazine requires a higher level of customer service.

### 2/5 — App is a nightmare

*2019-04-24, version 6.0*

The app doesn’t work most of the time. Impossible to download digital editions and as others have stated, the login process is tedious. Do not see the necessity to log in each and every time, it it works. Just frustrating!

### 1/5 — App does not function

*2018-06-06, version 6.0*

The app does not work. It does not authenticate. I have talked with customer support at least twice and nothing happens. Very frustrating. This has been going on for some time.

### 2/5 — App doesn’t work

*2018-04-23, version 6.0*

Impossible to login as a subscriber. Useless

### 1/5 — App stopped working

*2018-03-06, version 6.0*

The app on my iPad has almost always work perfectly. However I tried to download the latest March edition and am unable to do so. I signed out I sign back in, I deleted the app and reinstall the app, I have sent two emails to customer support without responses yet. I am very frustrated

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2018-03-06, version 6.0*

I’ve tried to restore purchases multiple times on my new phone. Nothing happens. Fix this or refund my money.

### 1/5 — App Still Doesn't Work

*2017-10-02, version 6.0*

I've rated this App 3 times now and the login process is still frustrating. We have 1 account and 2 iPads. Today I could login using both iPads but I could only download the October issue to 1 iPad so 1 of us must read while connected to WiFi. Perhaps their is a rule allowing only 1downLoad per account. App doesn't retain your login still. If this is by design that’s counterproductive to the ease of mobile devices.

IOS 11 is out so this needs updating to be compatible with that too.

Paper is so out of fashion but don’t trust this App to replace your paper copy.

### 3/5 — Maddeningly late each moth

*2016-10-05, version 5.0.91*

This magazine which I read online is significantly late each month. There's no reason for it to be predictably late each month and when I call or email to ask them where is my issue they only tell me its late but never a reason why it's consistently late.

### 1/5 — app is seriously flawed

*2016-09-06, version 5.0.91*

App does not function as advertised. i have to go thru "sign up" process each time i want to read, and download the issue each time. The pages displays as whole PDF like pages of the print version. There is no excuse for the lack of a true digital edition.

### 1/5 — No longer have access to online version of print app

*2016-07-23, version 5.0.91*

What a rip off. So tired of apps that remove features and conveniently "forget" to include that in the update info. Nowhere in the update description does it say "Hey, print subscribers, you no longer have access to the digital version of our magazine, you're welcome".

So after being a print subscriber for years that loved to have digital access for traveling etc. without having to bring the physical magazine with me, they have decided, without warning, to remove his feature. To make matters worse, they have removed access to the issues I had already downloaded!

Probably just cancel our print subscription as it really lowers the value of that option based on how I usually read it but won't be adding the digital subscription; it's stupid to pay $10 to access something we already pay for a print subscription and a digital only subscription doesn't work for us either. As my wife and I have separate Apple accounts and so we would have to pay twice for the digital subscription.

To bad really, as I liked the magazine but not enough to have them rip me off like this.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2013-07-28, version 3.8*

I dislike this app for a number of reasons, especially when compared to the app for The New Yorker magazine. First, The Washingtonian app does not allow me to change the font size, so I am forced enlarge the page, which then requires me to scroll up and down and side to side in order to read the entire page. The New Yorker app allows me to enlarge the font size, and then rebuilds the pages to fit the screen without having to scroll in any direction. This makes reading the content much easier.

Second, why can't I rotate the screen and read in landscape mode? The fact that I have to swipe through to the next page to see the picture and authors names that accompany a story is ridiculous.

As a Washingtonian, I love the content, but hate the app. PLEASE model your app after the New Yorker app. Maybe the inferiority complex felt by Washington when compared to New York is deserved.

### 4/5 — Washingtonian

*2013-06-28, version 3.8*

We subscribe to the hard copy edition. Great to get the iPad app and get expanded pictures of featured articles. Easy to navigate. Had the hard copy sitting next to me, on line copy identical. Now will always have latest copy to read when stuck in various waiting rooms.

### 2/5 — Love it but...

*2013-05-17, version 3.7*

... The apps takes ages to open and crashes very often. When it works, the content is great, I loved the special edition "Washington guide" with linked maps of neighbourhood and restaurants. These maps should be available in every digital edition! Very useful to pick up a restaurant when you decide to visit a part of the district!

### 1/5 — App simply does not work for digital subscribers

*2023-10-23*

In spite of paying for a year’s digital subscription via iTunes, the relatively new additional login/password requirement within the app blocks paid subscribers from their paid digital subscriptions should they forget their user id or password with no option to reset either within the app. I spent way too long going back and forth between the Washingtonian alleged customer service and Apple, with each blaming the other for the problem with neither having a solution. So sadly. I am cancelling my digital subscription via iTunes and continue to fume that Washingtonian has denied me access to my paid digital subscription for months. Totally unacceptable and abysmal Washingtonian customer service. Highly recommend that the Washingtonian eliminates their superfluous login/password requirement in the app as they provide zero options to change one’s (additional) password if forgotten in the app and zero access to their customer service. Until this issue is resolved, I highly caution all NOT to purchase/use the Washingtonian app via iTunes.

### 1/5 — Not working anymore

*2021-02-03, version 6.0*

I decided to see if the App had been fixed since the last time I tried to use it, same problem - starts to download an issue then freezes. This has been going on for months, it’s disgraceful they’re allowed to have it in the App Store.

The App will no longer download current issues of the Washingtonian Magazine; I contacted support and they verified that it does not work with IOS 14.

### 1/5 — App unresponsive

*2020-12-20, version 6.0*

The app has been completely unresponsive. It freezes and I can’t read my content.

### 1/5 — Not Renewing Subscription

*2020-11-04, version 6.0*

My subscription is up for renewal this month and I won’t be renewing. The 2 most recent editions of the magazine will not download. Why pay for a subscription when I can’t access it?

### 1/5 — App now freezes every time I try to download an issue

*2020-11-03, version 6.0*

This app used to work, but it hasn’t worked for months now. I’ve deleted it and reinstalled it, restarted my iPad, logged in and out of my Washingtonian account, and it always freezes right after I start downloading an issue. Haven’t been able to read the last two issues. Auto-renew now turned off.

### 1/5 — App is tedious

*2020-10-30, version 6.0*

The app has worked in the past but for the last few months I can’t access any issues. What’s the point of my subscription?!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work and getting no assistance.

*2020-10-22, version 6.0*

The app hasn’t worked since Apple updated the iPad OS. I sent a help request last week and haven’t heard anything. Not impressed.

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2020-04-15, version 6.0*

I have being purchasing this for years but the app has not let me log in for months. I have tried everything and nothing. I enjoyed this magazine but why pay for something that does not work.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work. Will not open

*2020-02-22, version 6.0*

No one seems to care or fix it. Nice... good magazine horrible digital access

### 1/5 — Dreadful App

*2019-04-30, version 6.0*

What a bunch of incompetents are the developers of The Washingtonian app. Almost nothing works apart from prompts to buy issues. You can’t download an issue. You can't access back issues. You can read a desktop digital edition but only in a partial screen format. Don’t even bother. Read the print edition or skip this publication entirely.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — App Is Working Hreat

*2020-05-07, version 6.0*

I had trouble with the app several years ago but I’m not having any trouble now. They must have gotten rid of the bugs!

### 5/5 — Great to keep up on our city

*2017-07-16, version 6.0*

Love the magazine and the iPhone app

### 5/5 — Great app for great mag

*2014-01-19, version 3.9*

Love that they don't charge extra for electronic access. They always give me ideas on new things to check out in DC.

### 5/5 — PDF

*2013-05-27, version 3.7*

The updated version is 1000 times better. The prior version was useless. The new version is comparable (instant page turns) to a physical magazine.

### 5/5 — Love this mag

*2013-05-14, version 3.7*

Great to read digitally. Photos and videos come brightly to life. With the newest release it seems very easy to navigate. I still love the print too but if you like mags online this one is worth getting.

### 5/5 — Washingtonian App shines

*2013-02-28, version 3.1.02*

My wife and I love the crisp, clean and shiny bright look and feel of the Washingtonian App. It's glossy and as even more fun to read since the app offers so much more content. And, no trees died...

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2013-01-30, version 3.1.02*

I really like the interactive features and looks really nice on my iPad Mini. Although I get the magazine delivered. It's nice to get a few extra bonus features using the app. Great job.

### 5/5 — Great way to view Washingtonian.

*2012-11-22, version 3.1.0*

Great way to view the magazine. Best to select issue to download and let it finish the download before viewing -same as all other magazines on iPad. Thanks Washingtonian!!

### 4/5 — Found the Answer

*2013-10-16, version 3.9*

So if you're a digital only subscriber the "Sign In" button at the top left corner of the app won't work because it is only for print/digital subscribers. It is unnecessary to Sign In if you only get the digital subscription. The magazine will automatically download every month.

### 4/5 — Washingtonian is brilliant

*2013-07-06, version 3.8*

When you're stuck for something to do, this is the app to turn to. Also makes great metro reading.
