"If you breathe, you probably care." Thirteen years ago, air quality information wasn't accessible except in legacy media... then came WashoeAIR to bring these conditions and readings to everyday people in Northern Nevada (and beyond). It's kept its purpose over the last decade+ while improving the at-a-glance understandability for anyone who breathes; from basic colors to text, to individual pollutant readings, there's depth for just about anyone, no degree in Public Health required. Even the standard iphone weather app gets more frequent and accurate air quality results. Half the time this apps air quality readings aren’t even available. ### 3/5 — Difference *2021-08-22* Why are the numbers different on every AQI Site I look at. And they really lag at least a half an hour from actual conditions. ### 4/5 — There is a long delay of 3-4 hours because when wildfires hit and you smell them *2018-10-06* Wildfire smell indicates a 4 hour delay before the result are reported. Wind conditions should be included so one can determine if things will get worse or better. Sometimes there aren’t any results for days. Needs some tweaking but the concept is important **Developer response:** “Wind conditions” is a great suggestion. I’ll see what info is available to add. As far as the delay from event onset to app reporting, there are multiple factors to keep in mind: location of reporting station vs event, time-to-report on behalf of the reporting agency(ies), uptime of the reporting portals (this has been an issue with some of the Carson/Douglas info unfortunately). Result? A small to large delay depending on how all the moving pieces align. This is not optimal but few (if any) primary data sources are directly accessible. ### 1/5 — Air Quality *2018-07-18* Please fix the the air quality data link. The app only displays temperature. This app is worthless until this is fixed. **Developer response:** Sorry I missed this at the time you posted it -- there was indeed an issue with the app not waiting long enough when it looked up data.
