Note:
It's advisable that you don't setup location accuracy setting more accurate than 100 meters (default). If you have WiFi enabled, this will be good enough to position your iPhone to exact location in urban areas.
If you change location accuracy to 1 or 3 kilometres, the app will not even use GPS for location updates, so it will consume less battery, while still doing their job.

I keep getting iPhone lost alerts, even when the phone is next to me. I hopped this would help me but with constant false alerts ….

locationaccess機能を使っているとapple watch、iphone共にバッテリーがすぐ無くなります。
正確な位置情報まではいらないので、watchとiphoneのBluetooth接続が切れたら通知してくれるくらいで忘れ物防止には十分なのですが…。

※追記
お返事のように設定したところiphoneのバッテリー使用量はほぼ無視出来るくらい抑えられました。ただapple watchは依然として減りが多いですね。ultraシリーズじゃないと実用に耐えません。

**Developer response:** There is also app setting to use less battery. If you change "Location Accuracy" to Wi-Fi 1 or 3 km, the app will not use GPS for location updates, but it will still refresh location frequent enough and with Wi-Fi enabled, location will be enough accurate in urban areas. 

Beside that, you can also stop updating location on iPhone and you will still get notifications on Apple Watch, only without iPhone location. This will save battery on iPhone even more. All other functions will work as intended.

The app is quite effective. It notifies you when you lose Bluetooth connection with your phone. While there are a few initial teething problems, once you get the hang of it, it works well. Even with reduced location accuracy, it functions effectively without significantly draining battery life. The main drawback is that it prevents sleep mode if left on overnight; if sleep mode is important to you, you'll need to manually turn the app off at night and back on in the morning.
