Expensive and not reliable ### 1/5 — Poor *2026-05-09, version 1.9.6* Needs improvement badly, every time you select “watch from start” the app will flash to live for a moment and show scores live. Often errors, last night both games would not play on match selection, all that would play is a two minute betting discussion. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2026-05-08, version 1.9.6* This app has been responsible for ruining over a dozen games for me. I live in the U.S. so it’s one of the only ways Incan watch footy. It consistently shows coverage at the end of a game instead of the start even when I choose the start and not live. Also, the fast forwarding and rewinding is extremely poor if you have to do it for any more than a few seconds. Major fail. ### 1/5 — Awful *2026-05-08, version 1.9.6* This app is horrible for another year. I’ve put on a game to watch and it is actually a different game? When I tried to access it by pressing the game that was incorrectly loaded, it wasn’t it either. No game. The user interface couldn’t be worse. How is it that you can’t scrub forward? Lazy design. No one would think this is an acceptable solution. The game should be loaded from the first bounce and when paying this much, it shouldn’t be loaded with commercials. I vowed a couple of years back not to pay for it again - I should’ve listened to myself EDIT! App goes from worse to worse. Trying to watch a game live and all I’m getting is some stupid ‘In the back pocket’ betting show? Tried many times to watch either game live. There’s no chance this app could be worse. The app developers seem to be lazy though and dont update and refine the app regularly. So many bugs and crashes. For example of you have the game playing in minimized screen, and then re-enter app to go full screen, the game crashes. Super annoying. Additionally the ‘round’ is never defaulted to current, its always last week as default so you manually have to go change it to current round its tedious but some minor ipdates can improve it. ### 1/5 — Awful *2026-04-12* This app is horrible for another year. What a joke ### 1/5 — This app is garbage *2026-04-07, version 1.9.5* Even when I download the game, the app will randomly reset back to the start of the game. Trying to scrub the timeline is frustrating and let’s not talk about the teeny tiny playback control buttons in the bottom left of the UI. You have to keep pressing to seek forward/back before the controls hide again. Whoever developed this interface should be fired. ### 3/5 — Good but… *2026-03-22, version 1.9.5* Have a subscription through my international membership, and I love the access it gives me. Very rarely have trouble with streaming, and enjoy watching some of the shows. However, the lack of updating on the main screen is incredibly frustrating. The Live & Upcoming section shows matches that are weeks old, same with the Match Replays and Latest Shows. As such, you have to go hunting for what you want to watch. (It’s March 22 as I write this, and the “latest show” is from March 2, the replays are pre-season games, and the “live & upcoming” games are from Opening Round.) ### 1/5 — Worst app ever *2026-03-15, version 1.9.5* Don’t let the “chromecast support” fool you. There is none. Suggestion from support was to just watch on a tablet??? Because that’s why I own an 85” TV… Don’t waste your time. Charge an arm and a leg and you genuinely can’t watch anything on the app and have to use a computer. So many bugs especially when casting to tv through iOS or chrome cast. Video controls horrible. ### 1/5 — App doesn’t work and charges you for 0 additional content *2025-11-11, version 1.9.3* The app never works, it either does not show any matches when they are currently live or the app will refuse to connect to your TV - I had this issue across 3 different tvs. In order to fix these issues you’re expected to delete and redownload and turn your device on and off to supposedly get it working which never works. Following these methods gets very tiresome when you are required to do this multiple times a game. Support also won’t respond to problems about the app. For $50 per month I would expect a more functional product and better support. Find an alternative method to watch afl overseas. ### 1/5 — Scam *2025-10-09, version 1.9.3* They make it very hard to unsubscribe and will charge you even in the off season. There’s no option to unsubscribe in Apple settings with all the other apps, and you can’t even unsubscribe through the app. You have to log in on their website. The experience should be way smoother than this. ### 1/5 — Absolute waste of time - Just a scam machine *2026-07-18, version 1.9.6* Watch AFL is, without question, one of the worst apps ever for AFL. It has been far away from broadcasting, and it is best at being a sandpit of cyberattacks disguised as a “streaming service.” You only be far away from watching AFL because you get lashed by this so called “login,” as even if you enter your correct credentials, it just says invalid. The same happens when you enter in “forget password.” Worse, the so called “subscribe now” has only Australian dollars, making the app a joke. The app exists solely to make money thanks to its downright issues winning over users rather than give users a fun experience. Meanwhile, it genuinely feels like the creator poured all their inner greed to make this extremely backfired. Because of these, this app is just a useless scam machine. If you want a fun pack of AFL coverages, look elsewhere. Also, I’ve left tons of reviews, and I do it again because the app never fixes anything. Avoid this slugged rubbish at all costs and use Australian VPN broadcasts instead - this slugged rubbish is just a disgrace to AFL broadcasting. ### 1/5 — WatchAFL geoblock even though I’m overseas *2026-07-05, version 1.9.6* I’m overseas (in Greece, BTW AFL, part of the EU, and been around for 2500 years). I can’t access the game either on Starlink or on Greek 5G. It says it is only available “outside Australia”. I AM outside Australia. I’ll bring you back a yiros if you respond to this, because I’m willing to bet you won’t. ### 1/5 — Afl with Never be international *2026-06-27, version 1.9.6* travelling overseas for four weeks wanted to watch my AFL team play whilst away. The AFL have an agreement where they’ve blocked Foxtel in Kayo from streaming overseas and charge €20 a week for Watch AFL. But not only is this a slap in the face for Australian AFL supporters travelling overseas it is doing the AFL game as a whole service by not giving people overseas whether Australians or from other countries the ability to watch this wonderful game very narrow minded AFL ### 1/5 — Such a bad service *2026-06-18, version 1.9.6* So disappointing! I’ve been trying to watch the footy overseas. The service is constantly interrupted and then won’t continue games. Have reverted to free-to-air footy on 7+ which works a charm. ### 1/5 — Barely works *2026-06-14, version 1.9.6* $70 a month and you have about a 40% chance of watching a game live and the app actually working. Otherwise you just get error messages and the email support staff are not helpful. Don’t bother just wait till you get home or find another vpn work around ### 1/5 — Be careful - plans roll *2026-06-13, version 1.9.6* They don’t tell you this in signup (almost misleading) but the plans roll so when you get back to Australia handy to have a plan for something that doesn’t work in Australia. App failed multiple times overseas and only way was to watch was download and watch latter. Another fox sports app / process that is misleading and poor in execution and really just doesn’t work. For the money they charge we should expect better. ### 1/5 — Poor service, threats from support *2026-06-07, version 1.9.6* The game replays are absolutely inconsistent, sometimes they include commentary between quarters, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they include the winners singing their song, sometimes they don’t. They really need to hire some better editors. Way better then kayo and vpn combos ### 5/5 — Fantastic app *2024-08-03, version 1.9.0* Initially put off by prior negative reviews, I cannot fault this app. It has everything I need when it comes to catching up on fox footy news, shows and matches. I love the ability to watch matches from start, or from live, and it even remembers your place when watching a replay if you have to pause and return to the app at a later time. Also love the fact that I can hide match scores when looking at the fixtures so there are no spoilers ever. Yes it is pricey compared to AU but at least there is an option to catch up on all fox footy content so as to not miss out while overseas. ### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed *2024-07-03, version 1.9.0* I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews so thought I would satire my positive experience. Went to Bali for a week and wanted to watch afl. I was here last year and was unable to watch so was happy to find this app. I had no issues whatsoever with this app. I was mindful not to pause it for too long because of some of the reviews I had read about it losing its spot. I was able to stream all of the games live in high def. I actually found the interface really easy to use and maybe that’s because of all the frustrations I have with the normal Kayo interface. It does make me sad not to get any of the commentary or programming during halftime and quartertime breaks, and the commentators aren’t the same as you’d get watching footy in Australia but it does exactly what it promises.
