### 4/5 — Vouchers page need fixing

*2026-01-07*

The app is easy to use, but since the system upgrade in summer 2025, I can no longer see vouchers in my wallet earned from my visits. Please fix it admins

### 2/5 — Needs stability updates

*2025-12-30*

Using iPhone with IOS 26
1. when typing in register surname
App would delete typing as if phantom presses so had to type quickly before app tried to delete all data. This happened multiple times
2. trying to select the tick box for accepting conditions, it opened a new tab to show conditions
(Change hit box here)
3. On returning from conditions tab, it has removed the details entered for name and address, again running into issue highlighted in one.
4. Connection to payment is slow even with strong signal.
5. Add push notification to coffee being available.

### 4/5 — Great company, ok app

*2024-07-20, version 6.1.2*

Love WatchHouse but the app is a bit weak. Example - I get 6 stamps, the UI just goes back to zero, it doesn’t tell you there’s a free coffee ticket elsewhere in your the app. Makes you think they’ve shortchanged you. Fix this design guys.

### 3/5 — Sign up is so last century

*2024-04-09*

Apple allows app devs to include one click signup with Apple ID. Had to enter everything manually - didn’t even include auto complete on name and email. As I was signing up whilst in the queue this was really frustrating!
Though the app itself seems fine, and only needing six stamps for free coffee is very competitive (Notes needs 8 - though notes supports one click sign up!)

### 2/5 — Below par

*2023-12-07, version 6.0.0*

Not a reflection of the coffee, but the app is terrible.

It’s slow, with style over function. Which is just frustrating.

There seems to be a 15-min lead time between ordering and collection, which is useless in London. Nero & Gail’s can be done in ~5mins

### 1/5 — Hire a new UX designer

*2022-09-09, version 5.0.9*

I love watchhouse, their brand and their coffee, but this app is pretty poorly designed!

Two enormous issues; 1) You have to scan your digital loyalty QR code BEFORE payment. This makes no sense at all, as people typically get their loyalty cards stamped AFTER making a purchase.

2) The loyalty stamps disappear for some reason, I had purchased my sixth coffee a few days ago and collected all six stamps, so I could get my seventh free. Today I went, excited for my free coffee and all the stamps had disappeared. When you’ve paid nearly £21 on coffees in order to get one free, that’s quite frankly a load of rubbish.

Hopefully someone can fix this because not gonna lie, I’m pretty annoyed about it 😤

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2022-09-01, version 5.0.9*

Incredibly slow signup process. Pops up webpages for no reason. Does not work with Apple Pay. Has so many steps I’ve lost count. An amazing coffee shop and a shockingly bad app. You should sort it out.

### 1/5 — Stamps stopped working

*2021-12-22, version 5.0.9*

Installed it for the stamps. The stamps used to work and now they stopped. I’m stuck with 3 stamps forever.

### 1/5 — Don’t use to order in store!

*2021-06-24, version 5.0.9*

What a poor experience! The app took my money, the store didn’t have the item… but the staff couldn’t cancel or refund the order. 5 days later and still no contact or refund. Absolutely useless implementation.

### 1/5 — Loyalty doesn’t work

*2021-03-25*

Loyalty/stamps functionality doesn’t work in the new app update

### 3/5 — New version not as good

*2021-03-17, version 5.0.3*

I had to re-register and lost my loyalty stamps - no big deal. But now We can’t use Apple Pay so it’s a lot less convenient to use the app. Still works buy not great.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pay your staff living wages don’t offload the responsibility to customers

*2025-08-07*

Shameful tipping practice - we should make it law that company execs are paid with customer tips only!

### 1/5 — Automatic tipping

*2025-03-01*

Really dislike the automatic tipping feature.

### 1/5 — One-star for the absurd automatic tipping requirement

*2025-02-11*

While I love this cafe (I buy two coffees a day from them, which costs me a small fortune!), the app’s automatic addition of a
12.5% tip for a takeaway/collection order is absolutely absurd. The product price already includes the making and delivery of coffee to the point of collection - what is the extra service that deserves a tip? And in any case, why on earth would I tip for a service before I have received the service and determined that it is worth tipping?

The previous version of the app was already bad because of this automatic tipping, but at least it was possible to remove the tip with one click. Now I need to open an entirely new page, manually insert £0 tip, and go back. That’s just awful UI design - needlessly inconvenient for the customer and just wrong as a business principle.

Perhaps this is an attempt to import America’s ridiculous tipping culture. Whatever the reason, please remove the automatic tips from takeaway/collection orders and, if needed, adjust the prices to pay your baristas a fair wage!

### 1/5 — What’s with the aggressive tipping?

*2025-01-17, version 6.1.3*

I love this coffee shop but I absolutely hate that they have made it difficult to remove the tip option. I almost always get take away so why am I being asked to tip in the UK? This American tipping thing has crept into cafes lately and it needs to stop. At £4 for a latte to take away, what am I tipping for? The way they’ve done this is shady too, before the recent update you could click off the tip on the same page (albeit they made the print very, very small and hard to see, which is dodgy enough), but now I could NOT remove the tip anywhere unless I went in to another page and had to type £0 and save to indicate no tip. It’s extremely crass and off putting, especially since you raised the prices again. Stop offloading the paying of decent wages onto your customers - this is the employer’s responsibility, not ours.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2024-05-20, version 6.0.7*

Great coffee, useless app. Unresponsive and wouldn’t even let me log me in.

### 1/5 — Cannot register

*2024-05-07, version 6.0.7*

I've tried several times but cannot register because the button isn't working!!

### 1/5 — App stopped working during sign up

*2024-03-27, version 6.0.5*

Was super excited to use the app, however I couldn’t even finish the sign up… the app froze

### 1/5 — Sign up

*2023-11-29, version 6.0.0*

Wow, what a bad sign up journey and no I’m not typing my password in wrong…

### 1/5 — Login process requires work

*2023-11-10, version 6.0.0*

UPDATE: More than a year later, the app is still not fixed. As a user, your issues with the app don't stop at the initial registration. For some strange reason, the app loads itself every time you open it, which makes it extremely slow and barely functional. As a user of the coffee shop app, I just want to quickly access the app during the checkout process, but if it takes too long to start up, I end up delaying people in the queue. It doesn't allow you to add stamps for coffee after you pay, so users are left waiting for the app to load.

Things get even worse if you're unfortunate enough to have your phone stolen within a 5-minute radius of the original WatchHouse store. All the police officers who get free coffee from the business clearly do nothing when the thief brazenly prowls the neighborhood looking for another victim 3 weeks later, and your case is closed without investigation. While the lack of police effort is not the app's fault, the refusal of the staff to add your stamps to your profile using an email address because you lost your phone and can't access the app at the time of your visit is frustrating. I know that this capability exists, but it's frustrating when the barista tells you that management doesn't allow them to use this function. Please show some empathy to your loyal customers on a bad day.

And yes, paper cards are a million times better because no one steals them from your hands, they don't require pre-loading or registration. And if a user loses them, they don't care as much as they do about not being able to get a stamp at the point of sale.

Reward programs don't give users a good feeling in 2023! They make users feel like their data is being collected and exploited, even when this is not the case. The app is just another source of frustration.

OLD REVIEW:

I recently tried the Watch House app for a coffee chain and I have to say it needs a lot of work. The login process is a huge pain and the staff is not very supportive. It takes seconds to give customers a paper card for stamping, but it takes five minutes to install the app and register. There is also nothing that reminds customers to fix the app before initiating an order, and then they can't pause the order to install the app. The app is also very misleading when it comes to the sign in process. When you install it on the phone, it doesn't prompt you to log in. People install it and think they will get their points next time, only to find out during the ordering process that they can't because they didn't create an account. Creating an account is not a one-click process, and there is no login with Apple. You also can't use the QR code displayed until you verify your email. All in all, this app needs a lot of work.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2022-12-08*

Watch House coffee is incredible. The app is not. Painfully slow to load, if it loads at all, which is pretty much never. I’ve missed out on loads of stamps because the app just doesn’t work, and the staff won’t add the stamps once you finally get it to open because “it has to be done during payment”. If your app doesn’t work. I recommend being slightly more accommodating in honouring your own loyalty scheme, particularly if you’re charging 3.50 for a flat white.
