## What is WATO Walking Together?

WATO - Walking, together. But competitively.

WATO turns your daily steps into a simple game: see how you stack up, push friends on the leaderboard, and keep streaks alive when you’re in the groove.

Steps that stay in sync
WATO reads your step count from Apple Health (HealthKit) and keeps your totals updated so your rank reflects how you’re actually moving, without turning your walk into a workout log.

Groups & codes
Create a group in seconds or join one with a code. Your crew shares the same energy: who’s on top today, who’s coming for you, and who needs to get off the couch.

Leaderboards & rivalries
Climb the board, watch the gap to the next person, and use a little friendly pressure as fuel. Streaks and stats help you see momentum—not just a single lucky day.

You, in the app
Pick a name, an avatar, and a distance style that feels natural. Sign in is simple—email and a magic link—so you can get walking fast.

More to explore
Journeys and milestones, sharing wins, and ways to give feedback are there so the app can grow with the community.

Notes
WATO is built for people who already track steps in Health. For the best experience, allow Motion & Fitness / Health access when prompted.

Walk more. Talk less trash. (Okay, maybe a little)

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-05-02

1.2.0 -New

Historical leaderboards — Tap back through previous days on both group and global leaderboards to see exactly how the standings looked on any past date.

Improvements
Me profile page updated with richer stats - streaks, personal bests, weekly comparison, rank history, and more.
Group leaderboards now handle monthly periods more accurately, fixing edge cases around month-start calculations.
Step sync is more reliable - resolved a fallback that could cause stale step data to appear after a background refresh.
Leaderboard queries no longer return ambiguous column errors in edge-case group configurations.

Under the hood
Enabled over-the-air (OTA) update support for future updates.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-04-29

Version 1.1.0 - What's new

Profile bio Users can now add a short bio (up to 140 characters) to their profile.

Me tab improvements The Me tab header now displays the user's handle instead of the generic "Me" label. The avatar hint auto-dismisses after a few seconds for cleaner screenshots. Tapping an existing bio opens the editor in place.

Keyboard fixes on sign-up / sign-in screens The "Send code", "Verify", and "Continue" buttons on the email entry, OTP verification, and handle-selection onboarding screens were obscured by the iOS keyboard (including the email autofill suggestion bar). These screens have been restructured so the action buttons always remain visible above the keyboard.

Consistent group icons Custom group icons set during group creation now appear consistently across the Home tab, the Groups tab, and the individual group leaderboard screen. Previously icons were only shown on the Home tab.

Pull down refresh on Home page and Leaderboard page added.

Bug fixes

Profile data handled centralized on app-launch, preventing a rare case where the Me tab displayed stale or empty data after sign-in.
Group icon prop was not forwarded in the Groups tab row or the group detail header - fixed.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-04-28

• Corrected an issue where personal stats could display incorrectly.

Groups
• Resolved a problem when leaving a group you own, including when you’re the only member.
