## What is Watta?

Photograph your Concept2 monitor after a piece and Watta logs the whole workout. No typing, no cables, no pairing needed. Every session is scored 0–100 and kept in your training log.

SNAP YOUR ERG. WATTA LOGS IT.
Take a photo of the PM5 summary screen, or pick one from your camera roll. Watta reads distance, time, average split, stroke rate and every interval, plus watts, heart rate, calories and drag factor when the monitor shows them. You check the numbers before anything is saved. Photograph several screens (summary, splits, heart rate) and Watta reads them as one workout.

EVERY SESSION SCORED 0–100
The Effort Score rates how hard you really worked, from four parts:
• Cardiac Load: your average heart rate against your heart-rate reserve
• Work Output: watts and duration, scaled for your body weight
• Pacing: how even your splits were
• Economy: watts per stroke
Zones: Recovery, Building, Training and Peak.

HEART RATE ZONES
Pair a strap to the PM5 so heart rate shows on the screen, and Watta labels each piece by zone using your resting and max heart rate.

YOUR WHOLE TRAINING LOG
Every workout in one place, with personal bests for every standard distance on each machine, progress charts, streaks and achievement badges. Import the sessions you upload to the Concept2 Logbook.

NEW: SEND WORKOUTS TO YOUR PM5
Got a PM5? Build a workout in Watta (a 2k test, an interval set, a steady piece), save it to your workout library, and tap Start on my PM5. Watta sets it up on the monitor over Bluetooth, ready to row. Then snap the screen when you're done.

COACHING
Coaches keep a library of sessions, build training plans of up to 12 weeks, and send them to individual athletes or a whole boat. Athletes accept a session, row it, snap the result and mark it done, and the coach sees how it went against the plan. Invite rowers by email or with a crew code, even before they have Watta.

CLUBS AND SQUADS
Join your club with an invite code, train with your squad, see their workouts in your feed, and compare on club and squad leaderboards.

BUILT FOR CONCEPT2
Works with the RowErg, SkiErg and BikeErg, on PM5, PM4 and PM3 monitors. Sending workouts over Bluetooth needs a PM5. Photos of other brands of rower aren't read automatically, so enter those sessions by hand.

Free to download. Every erg matters.

Watta is a training log, not a medical device. Talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise programme.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-13

Snap your erg screen and Watta logs it, just as before. New in 2.0:

• Send workouts to your PM5: got a PM5? Build a workout and tap Start on my PM5. Watta sets it up over Bluetooth, ready to row.
• Your own workout library: save the sessions you do again and again, and start any of them in a tap. Find it under Profile → Workouts.
• Sessions from your coach: accept a session, row it, snap the result and mark it done.
• For coaches: a workout library, training plans of up to 12 weeks, Boats for the crews you coach, and invites for rowers who aren't on Watta yet.
• Plus fixes and polish throughout.

### 1.5.3 — 2026-10-01

Log a whole session from your erg screens
Snap the summary, splits and heart-rate screens. Watta reads them together as one workout.

More accurate photo reads
Heart rate, splits and times now match your Concept2 Logbook, and a misread that couldn't be real gets caught before it's saved.

No more duplicates
Watta asks before saving a session you've already logged, and links Concept2 Logbook workouts to ones you entered yourself.

Also new
• Update your max heart rate when a workout goes higher
• Logbook workouts are labelled
• Faster club search
• Fixed a crash after saving a workout

### 1.5.2 — 2026-09-15

What's new in Watta 1.5.2:

• Dark mode. Choose light, dark, or follow your phone in Settings.
• Log any date. Missed a session? Add it with the right date, or tap Log Again on a recent workout to repeat it.
• Favourite workouts. Save the sessions you row most and log them in one tap.
• Smarter erg screen reading. Watta now shows which numbers it's unsure about and why, lets you zoom into the photo, and confirms the machine before saving.
• Goals. Set a target time, weekly sessions, weekly metres, or an event date and track your progress against your previous attempt and your best.
• A new Progress screen. Filter by range and machine, tap any chart to inspect a week, and compare training blocks.
• Coaching planning. Coaches can set due dates and repeating sessions, reuse sessions, and see planned versus completed on a shared training calendar.
• Your full history. Scroll back through every workout, with the totals up top.
• Never lose a workout. If your connection drops while saving, Watta keeps the session and syncs it when you're back online. Unfinished entries are offered back next time you open the app.
• Security and privacy improvements.

Train hard. Score everything.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-09-02

This release focuses on reliability, especially on slower or patchy connections.

• Erg screen scanning is much more dependable. Reads no longer hang for a minute before failing, and retaking or cancelling a photo now stops the previous upload straight away instead of leaving it to compete for bandwidth.

• Workout photos from the camera upload much faster. They were being sent at full resolution — they're now compressed first, so uploads are smaller and far less likely to drop.

• Fixed connecting to Strava and Concept2. If the app was still waking up when you returned from the provider's sign-in page, the connection could fail and you'd have to start the whole flow again.

• Fixed the photo picker occasionally doing nothing when tapped.

• Clearer messages when your connection drops, instead of technical error text.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-07-29

Delighted to share two major updates that have both been requested by users:

1. Progress - you can now see your longitudinal training progress over time. You can track performance, progress per session or per training block
2. Connect to ErgData - you can now connect to ErgData, so any session done in ErgData now shows up in Wata
