The Waves Customer App is a booking and payment facility for one of the biggest hand car washes in the UK.
 
Pre-book for a priority service, pay via the app, find your nearest hand car wash, get information on opening hours and services and earn loyalty rewards and Clubcard points. The developer seems fundamentally unable to create a good app experience, instead opting for wrapping up a website and calling it a day. Just to sign up, you get a long form that needs all of your details (including address, why?). An onboarding flow should only need at most my phone number and/or my email. Not to mention, when you do go through all the above, the “app” wants to send a code to your phone which may or may not arrive (at least not on the first attempt in any case), so you can’t actually complete onboarding anyway.

My advice as an app developer; hire a proper consultancy to rebuild your app as an app, not a website, because what you have right now is a usability disaster. MAUI is a surefire way to put off all your users, just use Expo to develop a platform-respecting, cross-platform app. Don’t bombard users with miles and pages of forms, you’re supposed to get us into the app as soon as possible. Add Apple Pay support instead of requiring users to manually input card numbers. 90% of your onboarding form can be done _after_ a user has made and verified their account; let me add payment info and car registration when I make my first booking.

App never remembers log in, even after selecting stay logged in. 
Also, the car wash block all appointments day of, meaning unless you book at least one day ahead, you can never use the app! I also had a car wash which cost me £26, when I was emailed my receipt it only said £16 - assuming they pocketed the £10 and that’s why they block people booking in same day

Stay away, they quote you less and once work is done, they’ll say your car is bigger and charge you more. I pay £10 for my car wash from outside and they charged me £25 and the wash was not any better, in fact worse. Don’t get scammed.

I’ve never felt the need to review an app until now, but Waves is so horrifically designed that I feel like I have a public duty to warn others. The annoying part is that the staff at the Waves sites I have used have been brilliant, and the service excellent, but the interface is so awful on the app that it puts me off booking completely. Laggy, counter-intuitive and prone to sitting on a loading page for minutes at a time….this should be SO simple, but it saps the life out of me. I just. Want. To. Get. My. Car. Cleaned.
