I have to go back now to make sure i get deleted properly. ### 2/5 — Crashes for photos *2026-01-12, version 4.7.4* The app is good but it rarely works for timed photos and videos. Defeats the purpose ### 2/5 — Intolerant to the average *2025-11-22, version 4.7.4* If your ‘one of us, one of us’ or a far leftie and tolerant of all the wrong things this is your bag. Other than that it seems good so far. A better experience than Feeld I’m finding. ### 2/5 — Waiste of money *2025-03-05, version 4.4.0* I’ve used the same photos/bio on other apps and had significantly more interest, even in a city like London there doesn’t seem to be many users. ### 3/5 — It wasn’t broken - but then you “fixed it” *2025-02-26* Since the latest “upgrade” the app is pants, especially on iPhone. Media gallery is haphazardly sorted and media posted before the “upgrade” is gone. Since last night, notifications number keeps on rising even though all notifications / mentions / replies / requests have been dealt with. It’s great having all the new and shiny things but can we make the basics work first?!? NB: I have reported the issue in the app already **Developer response:** Hey Sorry you are experiencing some bugs, if you just report inside the app, in the menu where its says "report a bug" we will have your details and we will look at this for you. Thanks for being part of our community. ### 2/5 — Facebook dating would be better *2024-07-09* You pay £25 subscription that gets you nothing other than entering chat groups were someone is usually rude and if your not part of this very clicky social community your essentially just be talking to yourself, you dont get any free DMs but cost £2 to send one! You can send a like with a message that will never be seen unless they are paying the ridiculous sum of £25, which i found nobody really has, as its a rip off, only positive is you can not screen shot or save pics ### 2/5 — Crickets… *2024-03-05* The app has promise and is a ‘good sell’ You have to pay for DM’s so I spent a small fortune sending them and received no likes back. Now I know it’s subjective, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I get that. But I get a decent amount of likes from good looking women hinge. So to not get any back on WAX is strange. So I concluded the juice is not worth the squeeze on WAX. I don’t know if it’s the sheer volume of messages women get, or an algorithm thing but I won’t use WAX again. Hinge in my opinion is a much better experience, granted a more vanilla experience. However if it’s community you want there is plenty here. Some chat rooms are very spicy indeed if that’s your thing. But they sit behind a pay wall. It’s not my thing to spend time on community chat groups. If you don’t pay, then my experience is that you may Likely get little to zero likes as a guy. Hence the title of this review ‘crickets’. Unless you’re willing to spend a lot of time networking in the community and money. That said, the customer service was responsive and the people were lovely, very helpful indeed. I chatted personally with the admins and a developer. So that part is spot on. You wouldn’t get that on a hinge or tinder. To conclude if WAX were to change their model to be more like hinge, ie you can message for free then I think they’ll have a growing business model, with less frustrated men. ### 3/5 — Jury’s still out *2024-01-10* While there’s a community aspect underneath that makes it feel like there’s something more than a gratuitous money grab here, the UI needs work. Browsing is awkward and requires lots of clicks in unexpected ways. In order to “pass” on someone, you have to dig into their profile by clicking (the UI don’t offer you an “x” at the top level), but you don’t have to in order to “like” (💙) them. This is weird and unintuitive. When you “like” someone, you have to manually scroll to the next person in the queue. Why? You can’t contact them again, so it should automatically advance. It does advance when you “pass” on someone. Why should “liking” be different? These are strange design choices and affect usability significantly. I get frustrated using it, frankly. It also seems the community isn’t that large and I’m in the largest city in the country, where you’d expect it to be large. Perhaps they’re new and growing, which is fine; you have to start somewhere, but they need product help. It’s awfully clunky atm. I also “boosted” myself for 12 hours for $6 and got crickets. I believe I’m not unattractive and my profile is somewhat interesting (although they should allow them to be longer) so I’m assuming the ratio of men to women is quite lopsided. Hopefully with time it all improves. Given Feeld’s disastrous relaunch in December there’s a huge vacuum for other apps to take advantage of. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2023-12-04, version 3.5.5* Overly complicated messaging system and no record of messages sent. They appear to want to charge additionally for direct messages. E mail received advising à connection but nothing in the various message formats, and no response from support when I tried to raise this. It’s a shame because they look like genuine people in the profile. Last week the app “upgraded” to become paid members only - putting prices up over 100%, banning couple accounts, deleting social communities people had spent years developing, and doing this overnight with no warning. The app also has no DPO which is mad considering the sensitive data it processes. Since the relaunch there have been endless glitches which have locked me ok tor my account (which I’m paying for) with no response to my queries. It’s become an extremely expensive, elitist platform for selling cruise tickets. When reported that my private pics are visible to everyone it took them days to fix this. Then it happened again and again. This app has serious tech issues do not save anything too explicit or include your face in explicit pics if you don't want to regret it. ### 1/5 — Can’t verify profile with when taking a photo. *2025-02-07, version 4.2.1* When I attempted to verify my profile through the photo. The screen turns white and freezes. There is no other method to resolve the problem other than complain here :-(. The app itself is still a fair bit glitchy and the l biggest issue I find is it doesn’t load mentions or replies notifications in the chats. Which is frustrating as it could be seen that you’re ignoring people when in fact you haven’t spotted somebody’s replied. This bug in particular I have reported several times over the past year. It would seem that they are trying to work it out and it’s taking a little longer than another bug fixes to rectify. Apart from this, it’s a highly recommendable app! Suitable for all adult age ranges and a really good community for newbies and those who have been in the lifestyle for a while! Keep up the good work!
