### 4/5 — Frustrating experience with syncing… but I’m back again 😂

*2026-03-16, version 2025.6.0*

EDIT: I have thought a lot about this and decided that I am going to re-subscribe. There really isn’t anything else like it that motivates me on a consistent basis. And, I was probably just salty that my app didn’t sync. That being said, I didn’t lose that challenge. I just had to workout an additional couple of days to get it. 💪

——

I’ve used WayBetter for a long time and really wanted to keep loving it, but the syncing issues have made the app too frustrating to stick with. Even when you do meet your challenge goals, you can still end up losing money if the app doesn’t sync your workout on the exact day — even when you have proof you completed it.

The concept is great, but until the tracking becomes more reliable (and the exceptions more reasonable), it’s hard to recommend.

### 2/5 — Payouts

*2026-02-14, version 2025.6.0*

I enjoy the app and the games really keep me motivated, but there is no reason that it should be taking a month to receive my payouts. As another user noted, you cannot request a second payout while one is pending (another thing that there is no reason for). Customer support provides no timelines for payouts. It is extremely frustrating

### 3/5 — GREAT CHALLENGES & POOR PAYOUT POLICIES

*2026-02-13, version 2025.6.0*

I have been a user of WayBetter for a while now, and during the pandemic, these challenges were a truly enjoyable way to stay active and motivated. However, the recent shift in the payout process has turned what used to be a fun experience into a frustrating waiting game.

THE PAYOUT DELAY ISSUE

If you are expecting your earnings back anytime soon, you should probably lower your expectations. I have sent multiple requests, and while the customer service team provides prompt responses, they seem to be reading from a script rather than actually moving the money.

The standard line they provide is:

“Our goal is to issue payouts within 5-7 business days... However, with an increase in volume due to players crushing their New Year's Resolutions and an increase in payout requests, we are experiencing a delay.”

While I appreciate the politeness, "crushing resolutions" shouldn't mean crushing the users' ability to access their own funds. Payouts are taking significantly longer than they ever have before, and the delay is occurring even after email confirmations are received.

BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU (BBB) STATISTICS

It appears I am not alone in this frustration. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), WayBetter, Inc., the statistics paint a concerning picture:

1) Total Complaints: There have been 36 complaints closed in the last 3 years, with a significant spike in the last 12 months.

2) Primary Grievances: The vast majority of these complaints are related to payout delays, account freezes, and difficulty withdrawing earned funds.

3) Pattern of Complaint: The BBB has even posted a Notice of Pattern of Complaints, noting that consumers frequently report that the company fails to process payout requests within their stated timeframes.

SUMMARY

WayBetter was once a great motivational tool, but it is currently struggling with severe payout delays. While the support team is responsive, their excuses don't put money in your account. Given the rising number of BBB complaints and the current rating regarding billing and payouts, proceed with caution if you expect to see your winnings in a timely manner.

### 2/5 — Used to love it

*2026-02-06, version 2025.6.0*

I’ve used WayBetter for years and used to love it, but something is off lately. Payouts used to consistently take a week to process and for the last few months it’s been significantly slower. Support won’t give an estimate of when you’ll get paid either, they blamed the holidays but now we are into February and it is only getting worse.

Once you’ve requested a payout you can’t request a second one and to sign up for games you can only use existing credits rather than pay for them directly.

The membership fee and game cost is way too high for payouts to take this long and feel insecure. I want to get the most out of the membership I already paid for, but can no longer recommend this app and I don’t plan to renew.

### 2/5 — Frustrating experience with syncing

*2025-12-07, version 2025.6.0*

I’ve used WayBetter for a long time and really wanted to keep loving it, but the syncing issues have made the app too frustrating to stick with. Even when you do meet your challenge goals, you can still end up losing money if the app doesn’t sync your workout on the exact day — even when you have proof you completed it.

It’s discouraging to put in the effort, see the app congratulate you, and then be told it “doesn’t count.” Support wasn’t willing to help beyond the strict policy, so I ended up canceling my subscription.

The concept is great, but until the tracking becomes more reliable (and the exceptions more reasonable), it’s hard to recommend.

### 3/5 — Okay, But There Are Better Options

*2025-11-22, version 2025.6.0*

I’ve been using this app along with HealthyWage and StepBet for years. Before some of these apps had member fees. While this all is good I have to admit the feature on some of the games where you need to take a screenshot is a pain and you have to make sure you do it before midnight you can’t submit after midnight. And the payouts aren’t great. The other apps have better payouts and you don’t have to deal with taking screenshots. Good app, but not the best. Especially for the member price. StepBet has better payouts and free games sometimes for members. HealthyWage has no membership fee.

### 1/5 — Scam read the reviews!

*2025-06-22, version 2025.2.1*

While this app is a good concept, the refs are scammers and you read the reviews you will see that is consistent!! I wish Apple would hold THEM accountable and take the app down!

### 1/5 — DO NOT DOWNLOAD

*2025-06-09, version 2025.2.1*

I downloaded this app without checking the reviews first. I tried to sign up for the 5 day free trial and it charged me $70 immediately. I now have to try and get a refund through Apple.

### 1/5 — Great Concept Terrible Customer Support

*2025-05-10, version 2025.2.1*

I used this app for over a year and completed / won 14 challenges. Putting your money where your mouth is in regards to your fitness is an amazing way to hold yourself accountable to work out.

Its truely unfortunate the customer service makes it very clear that WayBetter does not actually care about you or your fitness goals.

99% of the time using a fitness tracker (Apple Watch) works flawlessly with the app and challenges. However technical glitches occasionally occur where the workout is canceled early (sweat dripping on watch ending the event mid workout) or the watch locking you out after falling from the charger overnight.

WayBetter did offer me a “strict one-time exception” for the issue with sweat ending the workout (I still provided evidence the workout event was completed)

However a year later (yesterday) my apple watch glitched and I woke up and saw a 60m lock out due to too many password attempts. Having only a narrow window to work out for the day before work I documented the issue, completed my workout and documented the completed workout and sent all that information to WayBetter trusting that the customer support would give me credit for the event due to the abundance of documentation. Documentation being: photo of locked out Apple Watch in front of the treadmill screen at the start of the workout. A photo of the glitched Apple Watch in front of the treadmill screenAFTER the 30m run. A photo of the treadmill screen with the completed run. And a photo of myself sweaty on the treadmill with the treadmill screen visible in the background after my run.

Unfortunately they referred me to the fix they provided me last year which was to use Strava or run keeper in addition to an Apple Watch just in case the watch fails or glitches. Both those apps do not work if you workout on a treadmill as I do making this solution impractical. They also recommended that I could just do the event (30 min run) again since there was still enough time in the day to do so. This solution was hilariously impractical as I just finished a 10 hour work day (after running 30m) and had family in town.

Other challenges WayBetter offers only require photo evidence as proof of the completed event. This event Mega Run it Off required a fitness tracker syncing with the app. One would think that if a device malfunctions WayBetter would be more accommodating towards their users - granted sufficient evidence is provided.

This situation resulted with me loosing the 6 week event (of which I was on the last week) and the $50 I “bet” against myself to join the challenge, despite completing the challenge.

WayBetter lost my yearly patronage and my wife’s(~$240/year) as we both canceled our subscriptions after this terrible experience.

### 1/5 — Too expensive and poor customer service

*2025-05-08, version 2025.2.1*

Do not purchase!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Hard to cancel

*2026-08-07, version 2026.3.0*

It's was a fun little app. But I've had a heck of a time getting my subscription canceled. I keep getting charged ($50 every 6 months for something I've not used). I've tried to cancel multiple times, I've sent emails, the whole 9 yards and no luck. They said I signed up thru Apple and nope not there. So I had to close my credit card account!!! Buyer beware.

### 1/5 — From good to bad!

*2026-06-23, version 2026.3.0*

-over 10 years been this site
- went from good too very bad
-support team seems like they care but
-take months to get paid out
— takes months!

### 1/5 — Poor customer support, bad UX

*2026-05-25, version 2026.3.0*

Buyer beware. If you don’t explicitly login to the app and make sure you’re logged in, sometimes needing to close and restart a couple of times and/or login multiple times, the app will not register your activity. And even if you message them proving that you completed the activity to complete the challenge, if for some reason you don’t go through the gauntlet of opening and closing the app multiple times to assure it registers, then you cannot win. So if you’re a busy professional, working to get your activities in - in between a gajillion other things, like meetings and errands and you don’t jump through their app login hoops, but yet you have actually completed the activities AND jumped through the hoops 9 out of 10 times, yet miss logging in to this glitchy app, then you will not be able to win the challenge It is absurdly frustrating and BS. If you can prove you completed the activity, regardless of jumping through their hoops, you should be able to win. You pay them for the app, you complete the challenge. You should win the challenge. Period. There are other apps out there that don’t require you to log on and off and on again multiple times. They just beautifully sync with your trackers.

### 1/5 — Where’s my payout!?

*2026-02-23, version 2025.6.0*

It shouldn’t take almost 2 weeks to get payout. This is ridiculous. Update: it’s now been 3 weeks since I requested a payout ($40) with no deposits to PayPal. (But it can take “up to 30 days”) I can’t request another payout until this one processes. So, another month to wait!? I can pay $15 to have a check sent to me. 🙄 I want to be done but they’re holding my money hostage.

### 1/5 — Where’s my payout!?

*2026-02-13, version 2025.6.0*

It shouldn’t take almost 2 weeks to get payout. This is ridiculous.

### 1/5 — BUYER BEWARE

*2026-02-06, version 2025.6.0*

I have used this app for over 4 years. As if 2026, my experience is that they are not honoring their written rules and have kept earnings they should not have kept.

Sad shift in policy that was not posted in the game rules.

### 1/5 — Scam!!!

*2026-01-11, version 2025.6.0*

This app is a scam! They had no problem, taking my money for a registration fee while removing all of my earnings due to”inactivity” don’t use!!!

### 1/5 — Feels scammy

*2026-01-07, version 2025.6.0*

At some point last year developers decided to balance or sync? WayBetter and DietBet accounts so without my knowledge they took my money from WayBetter and deposited it into DietBet, I was never able to get it back, still annoyed

### 1/5 — Won’t load

*2025-10-23, version 2025.6.0*

Just downloaded this app, was really excited to use it but it won’t even load…

### 1/5 — SCAM

*2025-07-11, version 2025.6.0*

SCAM - STEALS YOUR MONEY

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — WayBetter Games help keep me Active!

*2026-03-09, version 2025.6.0*

One thing I really love about way better is the accountability to engage in healthy habits. It keeps me active and off the couch, and there are also nutrition and good habit challenges to support health and productivity. I have been consistently exercising, cooking, eating veggies, expressing gratitude, and decluttering my house through challenges (to name a few) - all things that help me develop good habits and keep promises to myself. I highly recommend waybetter to others who want to build and maintain healthy habits.

### 5/5 — Great motivation

*2026-03-07, version 2025.6.0*

Absolutely love this app!!! Really reliable! Never had any problems and I’ve seen great progress!

### 5/5 — Accountability

*2025-11-21, version 2025.6.0*

Having this app definitely gives you someone to report to and a goal to aim for in small increments to keep you moving forward.

### 5/5 — Life Changing

*2025-11-03, version 2025.6.0*

I’ve used WayBetter for four months and it’s been a game changer for consistency. I’ve struggled with self-discipline and motivation; this gives me external accountability so I just follow through. I’m doing short workouts, daily walks, and self-care, and I read every day. My daily steps moved from ~5,000 to ~8,000 and the increases felt incremental and sustainable. Habits now feel normal instead of chores.

The community is supportive without requiring constant interaction. The app doesn’t demand attention; it nudges me to do the thing and get on with my day.

Pricing is fair: $65 for six months. I’m on track to make that fee back, plus a little extra in winnings.

### 5/5 — Amazing!!!

*2025-10-14, version 2025.6.0*

Life-changing app!! Completely changed the way I look at exercise!

### 5/5 — The BEST app ever

*2025-09-09, version 2025.6.0*

I LOVE this app so much I asked if they were hiring!! It make’s life more exciting.

### 5/5 — Keeps me motivated.

*2025-07-27, version 2025.6.0*

I've been a member for years, it makes me move when I REALLY don't feel like it.

### 5/5 — Building consistency with my habits

*2025-07-16, version 2025.6.0*

Loving how consistent I am with my health goals when playing in WayBetter games! It has been such a game changer for me, and it’s fun too.

### 5/5 — Excellent Healthy Habit Builder

*2025-06-12, version 2025.2.1*

I’ve been a member for about 2 years and have had zero poor experiences. Joining games is fun and the bets make accountability more serious in a fun way. When I’ve had an issue with anything (which is rare), customer support is always kind and helpful. Game variety is fun depending on what habits you’re looking to build. User submitted games also add additional variety and definitely foster a bit of community too.

### 5/5 — Awesome app in the journey to be healthier

*2025-05-05, version 2025.2.1*

I’ve been using this app for over a year now. I haven’t had any issues with getting the steps counted like other reviewers did, though maybe because I use the phone step tracker. This app has helped me build habits that were hard to stick, such as doing core workouts 6 times per week. Now, my core is the strongest ever and I’m working to reinforce this habit to be as hard wired as brushing my teeth.
