Not a lot of people can pull off writing such cliches trope yet make it so interesting. The characters are so love able and hilarious that the replay value is through the roofs. What more can you ask from an amazing COG? The second book is just as amazing— I just recently read it today. This interactive novel really allows you to shape your character to however the player wishes and offers a variety of love interest to choose from and doesn’t limit you to gender. This novel is written so well I can’t believe it isn’t a published book, not all published books are as well written and developed as this novel is. And the choices are not just superficial, they have a significant impact on the story, but not in a way you’re sweating every time a choice comes up because you don’t want to pick the “bad” choice. There are no bad choices! It’s full bodied and feels like a award winning novel, with the bonus of a inclusive character options. So this five star review is a heck ton coming from me. Does it have its flaws? Of course, as does every other book in the history of ever. But it has such a big heart and so much passion and love put into it that it’s impossible not to love it. A really major perk is being able to pick your gender. You can be referred to as a woman, man, or a non-binary/third gender individual. But no matter what you identify as, all clothing options will be available to you. You’re a guy that wants to wear a pencil skirt? Do it! A non-binary peep that wants to wear a leather jacket and jeans? Own it! If you have any doubts, just get it. You’ll enjoy it, I promise. So much build up as a romance game, and the story is long, full of background and meaningless dialogue with little to no interaction between the characters. You could not even tell it was a romance game if you didn’t read the description. This game is the equivalent of being Jaws, where the whole 2 hours plus the characters are on a boat and the shark shows up during the credits at the end. Don’t get this. ### 1/5 — Short - rip off - 3 pages of a4 *2018-03-17* There are best sellers in the book charts that charge less, I expected a decent story but what I got was a short story for £5 - rip off should only be £2 considering its length Shame on you choice of games really loosing faith in the recent editions - turning good stuff into a pure money racket just such a rip off steer clear ppl the story is ok, but it’s about 3 sheets of a4 if that ### 2/5 — A little bit juvenile *2018-03-30* The plot and concepts of the story are really great, and I found very few grammatical errors. However, it is almost solely focused on the romantic aspects of the story, and it is rather predictable. The style feels a bit juvenile as well. For the most part, you don’t see very much development of other characters outside of their relationship with the MC, which was disappointing since several of the characters have potential to be developed in some interesting ways. In this sense, it also seems sort of self-indulgent and shallow, since all of the characters’ worlds seem to revolve around the MC. It’s a very romantic damsel-in-distress type of setting, with every character either unrealistically fawning over or hating the MC. And we don’t see very much of a reason why the antagonist does what he does. Still, I loved the world that the author created, and would like to see more of that. There are just multiple things that could use more thought and development, as well as emotional maturity. ### 3/5 — Could be bumped a star later *2018-03-14, version 1.0.3* Haven’t finished yet, I like the shifting of points of view. You could tell this was written in a female perspective though, for instance your interaction with Tina when she first see’s the Fab 4 walk out of your office; very reminiscent to a romcom where the insipid female protagonist speaks with her free spirited friend about how “she only wants to keep things professional” between the obvious paramour of the film. Written well though, I am sure I would have appreciated it more as a female. ### 4/5 — Amazing little story, but beware losing your progress! *2024-08-10* It’s a romance story through and through and if you’ve played any other dating sims/visual novels focused on romance you know what you’re getting into, but I found it refreshing in comparison to the ones I had grown used to partially because you’re able to romance the characters as men or women, as a man or woman. I finished my first run in three sittings and was excited to keep going the entire time, it was entertaining as far as romance IF goes, and I was surprised to find some decent prose in there at certain points too. It was never a struggle to read. A good several hours worth of fun that’s worth the price, in my opinion. Beware losing your game progress! It’s not a major gripe because of how easily remedied it is, but if you’re planning on taking a break make sure to back out of the game text and back to the main menu or you might come back to find that the game’s kicked you back to the beginning. There’s no real way to manage your saves so be mindful of that, and read through carefully because there also isn’t any way to re-read old dialogue. ### 4/5 — a great read with replayability! *2018-03-18* i love interactive fiction and the number one factor in whether an IF story is actually good or not is its replayability. this one is definitely replayable, with modifications to different scenes based on your choices - sometimes much later in the book, so that you have reason to keep reading instead of just skimming and choosing the answers on your playthroughs. however, this means there's much more time being spent with the writing as a reader and the reason i have to take a star off is because with these replays i've realized the writing isn't as polished as i'd expect it to be given that there is a copy editor listed in the credits. it doesn't take away from the overall game and i still loved the story and the worldbuilding within it, but as a writer and editor myself i would much rather see more sentence flow revision and proofreading for a paid and completed app. the proofreading errors are minimal, the sort i would expect from any published text, though! my issue stems primarily from the reading experience. some of the phrasing and the paragraph structure makes the writing lose clarity; or worse, it jolts you out of the story in confusion until you reread enough to understand what was happening in the scene. these are very minor complaints about a great game though, and i want to emphasize that! i really did enjoy it, and i'm looking forward to future books in the series. ### 4/5 — 4—changed my mind from 3 *2018-03-15* It’s not my favorite—the writing isn’t as good as many of others and I’m really not a fan of the first person instead of the usual second person, but it was interesting and there were plenty of choices and it’s certainly replayable. Edit: Though the writing still doesn’t always flow so well, the relationships really do develop and all the characters feel real and have their own personalities and such and I really came to love them. I was also intrigued as hell by the supernatural plot and the Agency once it progressed.
