You use to be able to toggle and see traffic anywhere in NC. Now it only covers around Charlotte. Very disappointing. Especially for people who travel around areas other than Charlotte. There is a page that shows current weather stories that keeps popping up without request and I keep having to navigate away from it. Last update once you open the app then watch the add and start to look at the weather within 5 seconds it puts up all the weather news alert articles and you can’t see the weather making the app useless. It use to be a good app. ### 3/5 — Weather app feedback *2025-01-05* I really do like the WBTV first alert weather app however whenever there is severe weather and I get an alert on my phone from the app, I am forced to watch a video for about 20 to 30 seconds before I can get to the severe weather alert information. Being able to access severe weather information timely is critical and it is not helpful to be forced to watch a commercial or advertisement in order to get critical, perhaps even life-saving weather information. The main weather condition page has been turned into a seemingly endless scroll with ads in between every weather box. They’ve also put those clickbait ads that have ruined so many websites at the bottom of the sections. So when you scroll (and you will doing a lot of scrolling) you will be greeted with utter garbage that you will likely accidentally tap. TLDR - This ‘redesign’ was done just to cram more garbage ads in their weather app. Steer clear and find something else. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Ads *2026-08-11, version 6.2.604* I get pop up warning me of severe weather and when I try to see the forecast, it just shows the same commercial over and over again. ### 1/5 — Poorly design and executed local weather app *2026-08-04, version 6.2.517* I tested the three local weather station apps (WCNC, WSOC & WBTV) and WCNC was by far the most accurate and best designed user interface. WCNC is well designed and is enjoyable to use. WCNC is not cluttered with distracting ad’s and seems more accurate. Well done WCNC and shame on WSOC & WBTV for using a third party weather app (both are very similar) that is focused on pushing trashy ad’s like Temu and Morris Jenkins. ### 1/5 — WBTV Weather application *2026-06-20, version 6.2.512* This is a very disappointing app. It only gives me 10 seconds and then it locks up. It is always crashing and never displays the temperature or anything like that even when I’m changing locations and reinstall your app you need to fix your application. It used to work now. I tried it on another person’s phone, & it did the same thing. I contacted someone at WBTV a long time ago, but it is still doing the same thing. I have been forced to use another app besides the WBTV app because of this. I really wish this could be corrected. That is why I gave only one star.
