## What is Wealthsimple Predict?

Wealthsimple Predict is a standalone app for prediction markets — a Canadian platform where you can trade on the outcome of real-world events.

Turn your view into a position
A prediction market is a place to trade on what happens next. Buy a contract — yes or no — based on what you think will happen. If you're right, you profit. If you're wrong, the price you paid is the most you can lose.

The price is the probability
Each contract trades between 1 cent and 99 cents. The price reflects what the market believes will happen. A contract at 72 cents means the market sees a 72% chance. Correct contracts settle at $1.

Trade on what you follow
Take a position on economics, weather and financial markets — the categories currently approved by Canadian regulators. Browse live events, watch prices move in real time, and trade when you have a view.
Will the Bank of Canada cut rates? Will inflation come in above forecast? If you follow it, you can trade on it.

Transparent markets
Prediction markets are peer-to-peer. For every contract there's a buyer and a seller, and the price updates in real time. There's no operator advantage, no built-in spread, and no hidden edge.

How outcomes resolve
Every market has a clear resolution source set out before you trade, so you always know how and when an outcome will be decided. No ambiguity, no discretion.

Built responsibly
We built Wealthsimple Predict responsibly. Learning is built into the product through mandatory onboarding and plain-language definitions, guardrails run through every step from trading-risk reminders to liquidity warnings on quieter markets, and every contract is regulated as a futures contract overseen by Canadian regulators — spanning economic indicators, financial markets, and climate.

Who it's for
Wealthsimple Predict is for anyone with a view on what happens next. Whether you follow markets closely, have strong opinions on politics, or just think you know how the season ends — you can take a position and see how it plays out.

### 1/5 — USD ??

Les frais et la monnaie USD rendent le tout terrible.

### 1/5 — Terrible

Terrible

### 1/5 — Too much fee

*2026-08-11*

Why is so much fee in USD for a bet? This looks like you have partnered with Kalshi, a stock betting platform. Develop a Canadian one hiring engineers.

**Developer response:** Hey there, we appreciate your feedback surrounding currency conversion fees. We understand a native CAD trading experience would be ideal, but in the near term we're limited by the fact that these markets are USD-denominated. Your feedback has been shared directly with our Development team as we continue to grow and improve the product.

### 1/5 — Wealthsimple take a weird way

*2026-08-10*

I don’t know if I can continu to trust Wealthsimple. They make weirds choses and they look like they don’t know where they go. They release too much different services. I think I will limit the money I save with Wealthsimple and continu to trade on disnat. And predict is another wrong choice they make. The fees are really high, a real scam. You can only use USD and the conversion fees are also really high. So you pay conversion fees and you again pay fees everytime you buy an option. You don’t have choice, you are limit to predict bitcoin price and stocks index, you have probably 1% the choices of polymarket.

### 3/5 — Cool but

*2026-08-10*

It’s cool, but most interesting bets are not available in Canada

### 1/5 — Bizarre Move Wealthsimple

*2026-08-08*

Sad to see Wealthsimple succumb to the ills of gambling culture. You’d think they’d want to do better and be better than this but who cares about morals when a quick buck can be made. Sad to see

### 1/5 — From brokerage to casino

*2026-08-07*

They’ve scooped low. Went from a being a brokerage to a casino. Why do such a thing smh….

### 5/5 — Wealthsimple Predict is great, but USD is annoying.

*2026-08-07*

I wanted Predictions, and Wealthsimple created a good product, but in my opinion, it was poorly executed because every single prediction is in USD, which is extremely annoying. Regardless, I do think it’s an amazing product, and I would ignore the people complaining about it. They did everyone a huge favor by making it a separate app when they didn’t have to. Personally, I would’ve preferred having it all in one app.

**Developer response:** Hey there, glad to hear you're enjoying the product and thank you for the feedback. We understand a native CAD trading experience would be ideal, but in the near term we're limited by the fact that these markets are USD-denominated. Your feedback is genuinely valuable as we keep working to improve the product.

### 1/5 — I love gambling

*2026-08-07*

20 % of men in the US are in addiction anonymous and suicide prevention programs due to being addictive to predictive markets also known as gambling
