It seems like they've now given up. It rained like crazy - and nothing from these guys. Do better. ### 1/5 — WeatherSmart *2022-05-17, version v3.2.0* I thought the previous SAWS app was quite nice, but hopelessly useless in terms if accuracy - but this is just hopelessly useless, full stop! It is completely user-unfriendly and the only feature that may be worth something is the rainfall map at the end - ie. if one can test it properly! Another complete NO NO is the comment that it may still run in the back ground and use battery power, even if you do not have it open! ### 1/5 — Good intentions but ultimately useless *2021-08-30, version v3.2.0* This app wouldn’t even launch on my previous phone - all I got was a white screen. But, since my city’s weather is notoriously difficult to predict by other apps, I thought let’s give this app another try on my new phone. It launched! Unfortunately it has a bad user interface design and a list of bugs so long I won’t bore you with the details. I’ll mention the worst one though: After I set up my allocated 5 suburbs, it wouldn’t let me change them. Worse - the most important suburb, where I live and work, was set up using my GPS, but now that suburb is stuck on a faraway one I recently visited and it won’t change back, rendering the app largely unusable to me. C’mon guys, you can do better than this. Is no-one even bothering to read the last few years’ feedback here? The money you spent developing this app is a waste if no-one uses your app. ### 1/5 — Storm map doesn’t update *2020-10-19, version v3.2.0* The storm map doesn’t update at all anymore which is the part of the app I use the most. ### 1/5 — Data mismatch *2020-09-24, version v3.2.0* Data doesn’t match the forecast data on the SAWS website. When clicking on individual forecast days, the detailed fats doesn’t match the day data. ### 1/5 — Full of bugs *2020-02-24, version v3.1.7* This can and should be better. Currently its garbage and needs attention. - Sometimes the right half of the screen starts flashing and flickering or turns completely grey, sometimes the left half. - When not allowing access to location data, the first location is always Pretoria, without the option of deleting it or setting some of the other locations as default - Scrolling down can get you stuck on the map section with killing the app the only way to leave it - Scrolling and zooming on the maps almost impossible - Map view is basically useless - No radar or satelite or cloud or wind views - No charts - Detailed forecast for the day limited to 4 timeslots for the current date This is a “my first app” type of app that seem to be abandonware. I agree with the other reviewers. This company has access to valuable data, it should be better, a lot better. ### 1/5 — Incomplete information *2019-12-29, version v3.1.7* Very basic, not enough information at all compared to other weather apps... Disappointed! Doesn't even give the hourly weather 👎. You are connected to the South African Weather Service, you have all the data at your fingertips and therefore the potential of making something really exceptional. Come on! Use this advantage! Right now it’s old, not user friendly and therefore, with the competition of other weather apps, a failure. ### 1/5 — Not worth it, still disappointed *2019-04-25* I tried the app a few years ago and it was useless. A friend convinced me that the new app is worth giving a go, it’s still useless. Despite allowing location services the app it defaults to Pretoria and the add location function does not work. Information provided is meagre compared to other apps. Even the weather service website is exceptionally basic compared to international services which somehow are able to provide more detailed and accurate information. They probably get the info from weatherSA so don’t know why weatherSA is incapable of presenting the info. ### 1/5 — Clunky *2019-04-22, version v3.1.7* Feels and works like a clunky app of yesteryear. Useless to say the least ### 1/5 — Storm data *2024-12-31, version 4.2.2* This could have been so much better. the storm data has no indication of what time it is showing the data for, when the data is not updated, it will just show what it has which can be weeks old. A forecast does not mean anything unless it has the period you are forecasting for, not next 30 mins ( could be from 20 days back). One bad or out of date forecast makes the whole app useless, i.e. cant trust if the forecast is currently relevant ### 1/5 — Needs work *2024-11-21, version 4.2.2* Literally watching the app and standing outside. The app says it’s busy raining and there’s not a single drop falling. This app has somewhat good data behind it. But WOW it is unusable. It gives four vague times of day and you have to guess what happens in between. Needs some serious UI updates. Cannot add a location manually- luckily it adds my current location (but the big map is stuck on Pretoria)- so is the weather actually for Pretoria? Is it coincidental that the predictions are correct? I wish this app gets the development it needs. ### 2/5 — Ads.
