Howerver I would love to see better voices and easier to add buttons. ### 4/5 — amazing app, one critique? *2026-04-24, version 1.23.5* So a friend of mine recommended this and its amazing but I have one problem. The board I want to use is the scrolling board and the positioning is odd. It only lets me position new words in the middle two columns, (and i cant move them to the outer columns?). id ideally want an entirely blank board, because the ‘hidden words’ still take up slots! This is still absolutely amazing as a free resource, and I'm incredibly grateful that this exists bc most other aac apps are either 100+ dollars or don’t work for me. It works wonderfully, far better than the text to speech app I was using. **Developer response:** Hey, can you check out the latest app release and see if the rearranging of words and folders is easier? Weave Chat AAC has really been a life changer! I love how much you can customize the boards and buttons. The keyboard is also a good feature too! I can easily type out what I want to say. Or search up a specific word I am having trouble finding. Weave Chat is also pretty easy to navigate for new AAC users! With YouTube video tutorials and a simple app setup. It has also helped me communicate what I need and how I am feeling! You basically only find out when you hit that limit. I understand the reasons why there’s a limit, but it feels disingenuous to not say anything about it until you hit it, and honestly most of the buttons I added are pretty basic words I was surprised the app didn’t already have, like “which”, “how much”, “ours”, “its”, “ate”, “answer”, “male”, “female”, “choose”, “has”, “art”, “migraine”, “loose”, “young”, “afraid”, “mad”, “stressed”, etc. They don’t even have “cat” or “dog” listed under Pets. There isn’t even any pre-made vocabulary for things like abuse or trauma, which is extremely important for AAC users to be able to talk about. Due to how many gaps I had to fill, the “my x” boards are basically useless. If I have to fill so many gaps that it takes up most of the 2,000 limit, maybe you need to either raise the limit or add more vocabulary so users can focus on adding personalized buttons, such as favorite shows or music, or add some of their own routines to self-care. As it stands now, probably half my custom buttons are under Verbs, Describe, and Feelings. It’s a good app, just not the one to use if you need lots of vocab. ### 5/5 — Seems okay so far *2025-08-20* Just getting the hang of it, so I don’t know for sure. I got it because r/autism recommended it, it was completely free, and I and a few people around me hated the robotic voice of my old one. I can speak when I’m not in the middle of a meltdown, but during a meltdown I am completely unable to speak so this helps. It gave me constant errors at every turn. You cannot add or delete buttons at all without getting error 404s. I just wanted a blank slate and even that was impossible. I’m heartbroken. I even tried the web app and that doesn’t work either. So, can’t use the app. Please do not require a phone number. If you haven't go to Settings > Vocab packs to find more relevant vocabulary. ### 2/5 — Voices are horrible and Tagalog is useless *2025-08-24, version 1.15.8* I love that they offer AAC for free but the voice options are not good. Also, I specifically downloaded this app because it is the only app that offers Tagalog - Filipino but it’s useless because there are no voices that pronounces any of the words as a native speaker. This app has some glitches and difficulties making mass changes and editing (example all buttons showing when in regular use but edit mode hiding some so order can’t be arranged, or not displaying some folders and making categorization of words hard). However it does excellent job for offering massive amounts of words. The options for phone are great too. I don’t have access to a tablet so being able to have aac on phone is great. For users who get motion sickness a fixed board is such a lifesaver. I also appreciate how it can be configured visually so many different ways. Personally I am the type that if I can’t see a button I have hard time finding it, so I’ve only used keyboard live speech until recently. For me a bigger board would be better because less taps into sub folders. But to have access to these words that don’t need to be individually typed I hope with practice I can be faster than typing.
