### 5/5 — Good idea

*2023-06-04*

Needs more onboarding 🙂

**Developer response:** It sounds like we need to do a better job onboarding the shake function! (The basic idea is if you're bored, you can shake for an interesting surprise site from our curated list.)

### 5/5 — Really great!

*2023-06-02*

Love how simple the app is and the UI is great. Thanks for making this!

**Developer response:** 🫶 Really appreciate you giving it a shot! I think the concept is proven enough to polish it up some in a next update ☺️

### 5/5 — I love it

*2023-05-30, version 0.1*

Title says it all.

### 5/5 — I never knew I needed this but its true!

*2023-05-30, version 0.1*

Thank you for making this! Maybe you can include a tip jar, I am more than willing to buy you coffee for this app ❤️ 💡Feedback - I was surprised why when I shook my device, a website showed up that I did NOT save. Just understood what the shake is for in the app store page of this app. Maybe there is a way to explain this better within the app during on boarding… besides this still 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It just says out of shakes? I don’t get it

*2023-06-17*

Maybe it’s a bug, but re-opening the app now after a few weeks it just says “out of shakes”.

It was fun while it lasted. Oh well.

**Developer response:** Sorry about that, I agree it's confusing and unneeded. We simplified out the 'charging up shakes and shake limit' mechanic in the upcoming 1.0, should be out in a few days!

### 1/5 — Poor UI implementation

*2023-06-03*

I get that they wanted a gesture based UI but why is it that when I swipe left to navigated through embedded galleries on a website it changes sources?! There should be zones for swiping, like edge swipe to change sources or something. Frustrating UI.

**Developer response:** We just figured out a fix here, in the next update you will be able to swipe carousels normally (and swipe elsewhere for next site). I think we should be submitting the update next week!

### 3/5 — Many blank / outdated pages

*2023-10-21*

It’s fun but lots of the pages it pulls up are blank or so outdated they don’t load.

### 3/5 — It’s fine.

*2023-06-07*

I enjoy using this app. However, I feel the swiping is too sensitive. I frequently move on to the next website when trying to zoom or navigate a website. The websites provided from the shake feature are really interesting and I look forward to seeing what I get presented with. But why limit access to those? Also, accidentally moving on from the shake websites is even more frustrating because you’re not able to go back.

**Developer response:** We'll be shipping an update (probably next week?) with several improvements including freely swiping back through your history properly, and entirely simplifying out the shake cap and charging up mechanic. I think you will like the other changes too!

### 3/5 — Stops audio playback

*2023-06-02*

This app needs a setting to stop the audio effects when you swipe web pages. They’re kind of annoying and currently they stop any other audio playback on your device.

### 3/5 — For the love of god make it possible to mute the sounds

*2023-06-02*

That is all.

**Developer response:** We will look into a setting in the next update 👍

### 4/5 — Addictive Fun

*2024-10-10, version 1.0*

Would rate 5 star if it had a dedicated iPad app. Can spend hours on it finding some amazing sites.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2023-06-23*

The new roulette animation is too long, too flashy and makes me dizzy. I wish there was an option to disable the roulette animation.

### 4/5 — Fantastic and much needed…only critique is..

*2023-06-11*

Make it so you can open an article in Apple News so I’m not subject to paywalls and can save articles more easily. Otherwise, fantastic!

### 4/5 — Stumbleupon (and Cake) reborn

*2023-05-31*

It’s a new take on old ideas. The app looks beautiful and UI is smooth but the sound effects are annoying after a while. Also swipe navigational gesture may clash if the website uses swipe.

Other than Stumbleupon this reminds me of another extinct app called Cake. It was a swipe based browser app too. With it users search Google and instead of showing blue links it will automatically show the sites from SERP in a swipe slideshow navigation. It will be interesting to see if this app succeed even though similar apps failed!

**Developer response:** We'll be looking into a sound setting and yeah I've noticed issues with sites with side swiping carousels. Going to have to think on how to address that one.

No idea yet if Web Roulette as an app or concept will truly take hold, but there's enough of you out there enjoying it so far where we'll polish it up in an update and see what happens ☺️

Perhaps if it finds a footing where others didn't before, it will be from framing the surprise destinations as an easy way to scratch your itch when bored, but grounding the experience overall in making even even nicer to browser your familiar favorites (on the phone).

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app except auto playing videos

*2024-07-19*

I love the app. Super simple and the way I browse the Internet most of the time. It is really annoying that videos auto play and take up the whole screen.

### 5/5 — Really easy to operate

*2024-01-29*

I have a few favorite websites and this app helps take some of the work out of picking what to visit! Great idea & great design

**Developer response:** It sounds like we need to do a better job onboarding the shake function! (The basic idea is if you're bored, you can shake for an interesting surprise site from our curated list.)

### 5/5 — GOOD FOR SURFING THE WEB

*2024-01-25*

i always like trying new ways to discover random content. simple google searches don’t let you find stuff like this because of SEO optimized and sponsored content, so having an app like this is really fun! you can spend hours with this app if you love exploring the internet

### 5/5 — Helping me curb phone addiction

*2023-10-05, version 1.0*

Great developer, I’ve used their apps before. Preload my favourite websites on here instead of wasting time across a bunch of apps. Fun and cute.

### 5/5 — A worthy StumbleUpon successor

*2023-08-19*

I rarely review apps but… five minutes into using this, I’m in love. I took a gamble and added most of the auto suggested sites, and have already seen a collection of weird stuff I’d probably never find on my own, including a Wikipedia article of a very weird and obscure Australian tv show. Do I need to see anything I’ve seen? No. But I’m delighted I have.

I haven’t even added my own sites yet, but this might finally be something I’m very happy to stay up way too late scrolling through.

### 5/5 — My favorite time sink

*2023-06-25*

This app is just right. It has replaced Reddit and Google News on my phone.
A pleasant coffee break worth of content, and then done. No more getting trapped in an infinite scroll. Thank you from this human. Please give me a way to pay you!

### 5/5 — It’s good

*2023-06-21*

Actually is you like to read or consume lot’s of information ℹ️ this app us really great and even fun. If you manage social media news or entertainment news this app is a great source of information ℹ️

Needs a bit of retouch and it will be awesome 👏

### 5/5 — Actually Useful and a Bit of Fun Too

*2023-06-16*

This is literally the one and only (and probably the last) time I’ve written a review for an app. I was genuinely surprised by how smooth and clean it felt swiping between pages, and as someone who usually has (REDACTED) tabs open simultaneously, this somehow made it seem a lot less overwhelming and ugly.

The random page generator is a fantastic idea that I didn’t even know I wanted until I used it. Have come across a ton of interesting stuff plus it satiates my ADHD juuuust enough 🤪

Sure, I still open some tabs on Chrome, Yandex, or Safari from time to time - but this is my preferred way to start my morning now. It’s basically a personalized briefing. Felt like the president of something 🥰🤣👍🏻

**Developer response:** That is awesome to hear, and yeah we think it's way more useful than it seems. Very excited to see what you think of the 1.0, should be out in a few days!

### 5/5 — A novel and uniquely fun way to experience the internet

*2023-06-09, version 0.1*

This is one of those apps with so much potential it’s impossible not to want more. The only thing preventing this from being perfect is the inability to create separate wheels for different types of websites. E.g. scrolling through all news sites, or entertainment sites separately instead of being all on one wheel.

### 5/5 — Totally pointless. I love it.

*2023-06-06, version 0.1*

This does far less than Safari. If you have Safari, you don’t need this app. Everyone has Safari. No one needs this app.

However…it is fun, and delightful, and efficient. And I love using it for my daily web catch-up swipey-swipes. Nice work, Impending! 🩷
