I think the interface is excellent. ### 4/5 — Good but... *2023-02-06, version 5.1.2* This is good, but... the contrast between read and unread is too little: dark grey and a slightly less dark grey. And I prefer to read the system font. Customisation options would solve both of these. I also expected to see an option to display the images alongside the titles in the article list. This is the deal breaker missing feature for me. ### 4/5 — Awesome concept, just needs a dark theme and “Mark All as Read” *2018-02-20, version 4.6.4* All feed readers should incorporate this core concept, i.e., offer an “Infrequently Updated” feed view. I have been manually creating something of the sort by simply marking high volume feeds as read in Reeder without even reading them so I could be left with a “Slow Feeds”-like view. The only thing this app needs is a dark theme and a “Mark All as Read” function to be perfect. ### 4/5 — Charge me once *2014-09-01, version 4.0.4.0* What kind of bs is this that after someone buys an app you go out and then put “buy the full version in a future release of the app? I paid once not again, don’t get this app. ### 3/5 — Great Concept - Lacks Features *2014-05-24, version 4.0.4.0* I really like the concept of this app... that is, seeing my RSS feeds sorted based on how frequently they’re updated (slow vs. high volume). But currently this app is so basic (and maybe that’s intentional) there's no way it'll be able to replace my full-featured RSS reader. I’m disappointed about this because I don’t want to have to use two separate RSS reader apps just so I can gain this unique kind of sorting ability. Put another way, I like what this app does, but it just doesn’t go far enough. Some specific shortcomings (as I see them): 1. No user font or color choices. - The stock font colors are rather light and hard to read with tired / older eyes. The color differences between the read vs. unread article fonts is too subtle and I find it a bit hard to distinguish between the two at lower screen illumination levels. 2. There’s no ability to hide read articles in the high volume list. - Why does this matter? Well, let’s say you’ve got 300 articles. Only one is unread and for whatever reason it’s not at the top of the list. You’ll have to scroll through the entire list just to find that single unread article… which isn’t necessarily easy because of the subtle font color differences previously mentioned. 3. There’s no ability to sort a list (eg.: by alpha/numeric, by date, ascending/descending, etc.) 4. There’s no ability to adjust what defines a “slow” vs. “high volume” feed. 5. There’s no ability to group similar feeds together by something like a category or a folder. 6. No article read/unread counts anywhere. 7. No control over frequency of background feed refresh. I’ll keep watching for improvements in this app and update this review as appropriate. ### 3/5 — Love the bomb *2014-03-22, version 4.0* I dig the Strangelove reference, but the IAP Full Version is a little bit of a turn-off ### 3/5 — Okay, but missing common features *2013-09-16, version 3.3.1* Simplicity is good and some other apps fail by over complicating themselves with too many features. So this app is good for being simple and easy to use. I especially love the image view option, which almost all other RSS readers fail to implement. I am genuinely surprised that more apps don't have a convenient way to browse through photo feeds, and this represents a real gap in the market. However, with this app's simplicity also comes its shortcomings. There are some basic, essential features that are missing. For example, there is no way to tell which articles are read or unread, except in the slow feed view, which gives you the option to show only unread articles. This option is missing from your views. Also, there is no easy way to mark all articles as read. Being able to select individual RSS feeds would be a benefit, although I don't think this is essential and may go against this app's philosophy. Owing largely to those missing essential options described above, I rate this app an average 3 stars. ### 2/5 — Would be great if... *2013-07-30, version 3.2.1* It was able to sync all feedbin feed. Don't know why but the app don't sync all articles. Reeder do. Mr Feed do. ### 2/5 — Nice concept but very lacking *2013-06-29, version 3.1.0* The description indicated a beautiful article view. I took that to mean a mobilized full article view but it just loads the website or mobile site in the built in browser. Needs a way to mobilize the article to live up to it's claim of beautiful article view. ### 4/5 — Responsive Dev, Interesting app *2013-06-26, version 3.1.0* It's a neat take on adders backed by a responsive developer. Enjoying this app thus far. Could use some more gestural support (swipe to next article, etc) and the ability to filter new high volume feeds, but so far, so good! ### 4/5 — A polished rss reader supported by a few services *2013-06-14, version 3.0.1* I have it hooked up to Newsblur, which in turn was imported from my Google Reader (RIP) account. It also supports Feedbin amongst others. Apart from looking great, and being responsive, it works in the post GR world by already supporting a few of the new contenders unlike my favourite current pick (Mr Reader) Importantly for me, Slow Reader supports Pinboard and Instapaper out of the box - my 2 main filing services. What it needs however is folders, currently it shows feeds in the order that they come in, which is great, if you have a few, but as a power rss user, i have 240+ subs, some i like to check daily, others not so often. For this reason it will never be my number one browsing choice, and will likely fall by the wayside as soon as Mr Reader and Reeder sort out their 3rd party api's on the iPad. It has potential, and with a few power user updates it would be fantastic, reading the website, I'm not sure whether I am the target market, or just a grateful refugee stopping by for a rest break in the turmoil of the GR upheaval. ### 3/5 — Promising, but missing some nav maybe? *2013-02-26, version 2.0.2* I like the high and low frequency rolls, a lot. It does not. Any catégories created in FW is lost. It has one nice feature : all the slow feeds are put together. Unfortunetly, it does not perform well. It also crashes on a regular base. Slowfeeds did that - successfully providing me zen when it comes to managing feeds. While I'm not partial to freemium models, that the developer automatically provides the full feature version to previous purchases is brilliantly executed. Although I'm at day 1 of the new update, I was compelled to highlight this new update and am excited about the possibility of using it as my sole goto solution for shaping good habits that are productive (check a website too much?
