## What is WebArchive?

WebArchive is an iPhone app for a private media archive connected to your own server. It helps you keep photos and videos under your control, organize them into meaningful collections, and use AI-assisted tools without handing your archive over to third-party platforms.

With WebArchive you can:
• browse your library by people, places, media objects, and collections
• create collections for related photos, videos, moments, and events
• build smart filters that automatically collect media by location, radius, date, and time range
• separate collections you own from collections shared with you, manage privacy, and grant access to selected users
• open a collection as a media grid, a list of media objects, or a set of editable smart filters
• explore person profiles and jump to connected photos, moments, and media objects
• find people by current or birth surname
• use Smart Camera to capture photos with AI-assisted face and animal detection
• preview likely person matches before saving a shot
• select individual files for upload or combine several items into one media object
• explore your archive on a map and move from locations to connected media
• view photos and videos, rotate images, and keep updated previews in sync
• connect securely to your own server with locally stored credentials and access token

### 1.2 — 2026-08-19

• Collections. Create themed collections, browse their media files and media objects, and manage them directly from iPhone.
• Smart filters. Automatically fill collections with media captured near a selected location or within a chosen date range. The geographic radius is visualized directly on the map.
• Sharing and access. Separate collections you own from those shared with you, choose private, public, or selected-user access, and expose only media each viewer is allowed to see.
• Better uploads. Select individual photos and videos, upload in groups, and optionally combine several items into one media object. The upload panel now resets correctly after completion.
• Improved browsing. Media and video preview grids, media-object navigation, collection refresh, and cached previews have been refined.
• Better person discovery: birth surnames are now displayed and included in search.
• A slim activity indicator now provides immediate feedback during transitions that require server data.
• Fixed canceled refresh requests, video-preview synchronization, and other interface and stability issues.

• New Smart Camera: capture photos inside the app, detect faces and animals instantly, and preview likely person matches before saving.
• Improved media library: people, related moments, files, and objects open faster and refresh more reliably.
• Photo rotation: you can now rotate images in the photo viewer with automatic metadata and preview updates.
• More accurate sync: updated images and related previews appear more reliably after changes.
• Better browsing and navigation: map view, related media, and archive transitions have been refined.
• Bug fixes and stability improvements for large archives and AI-assisted data flows.
