## What is webPOISONCONTROL® Poison App?

The webPOISONCONTROL® mobile app provides expert help for a possible poisoning. It helps users determine if an exposure is dangerous and requires medical attention.

Did the baby eat a berry, a flower or a cigarette? Did you take the dog’s medicine? Did your toddler eat pills from grandma’s purse? Did you swallow something that might be poisonous? Did you splash a product in your eye or on your skin? Are you coughing from irritating fumes? Were you bitten by a spider? Did you take a double dose of your medicine? Don’t guess what you should do. Get accurate answers prepared by poison experts.

Use the webPOISONCONTROL app to find out if you need to call your poison center or go to an ER, or what to do if it’s safe to stay home. This free, confidential app will guide you. Just enter the age, substance, amount taken (if swallowed), weight, and time since the exposure to get an immediate recommendation. A barcode reader allows you to scan the product instead of typing or searching for the product name. Next tell us whether you have symptoms, and if so, the app will check to see if they are common, expected symptoms, or more serious. Often, it’s safe to stay home, but the app will tell you what symptoms to expect and when to call your poison center or go to an ER.

Help is available for swallowed poisons, skin, eye, inhalation and injection exposures, and bites and stings. Users can get immediate guidance for medications taken in double dose or too close together. The app was developed by poison experts and has been safely used by more than one million people seeking help for a poison emergency.

### 5/5 — I use this once a month at least with my toddler

*2024-05-22*

It's great, haven't had any serious issues yet but it helps us not freak out and get the info we need to know if it's serious.

### 1/5 — Not for use by EMS Providers

*2024-05-02*

App requires you to input too much information (including email address, zip code, etc) prior to giving out the necessary info you would need if you were to utilize this tool on scene of an emergency.

### 1/5 — Can’t use this as a tool?

*2020-08-18*

I wanted to use this to see if various household items are toxic but they require you to enter your zip code. The app has a check box if you’re using the platform as a tool but they still ask you for your email and zip code. Please make the app friendlier to people who are curious.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2020-04-08*

Really helpful information. Quick and easy to use and I especially liked that I could get the same great advice without having to call.

### 5/5 — Highly recommended !!!

*2020-03-31*

We had a huge scare with my 5 year old while we were overseas. Communication was difficult with the local poison control phone line and this app was extremely helpful. While my wife was on the phone I was with my son and filling in the questions on this app. I got the result on the app saying no ER visit was necessary but expect a list of side effects. Eventually my wife got the same exact info from a doctor on the phone. Having both perspectives was so reassuring. A day later and our son is fine, just as the app (and Dr) said. Thank you for this amazing service/support when you really need of.

### 5/5 — A must-have

*2020-03-10*

This is a resource everyone should keep on hand. As a microbiology student who’s constantly around chemicals, webPoisonControl is an invaluable tool to get fast expert advice.

### 5/5 — Thanks

*2020-02-04*

Thank you for this. very easy to use in a high stress situation. put it on my phone hoping i never would need it and unfortunately one day i did. it helped so much as my grandmother had to use it and has limited knowledge about using the internet, and was able to use it easily. thank you

### 5/5 — MUST HAVE APP FOR PARENTS

*2020-01-08*

When your 16 month old takes a nibble of a dishwasher tablet & you are sure he will be fine but NEED that reassurance! You can look up the information without having to make a phone call!! Truly a life saver! Share this app with friends & family!

### 5/5 — A Tremendous Resource

*2019-10-02*

Every school nurse certainly and anyone working or caring for children of any age should have this App readily at their fingertips. This tool is invaluable for immediate assessment, intervention, and emergency contacts that will save precious minutes well before EMS and ED interventions are available.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

My 2 year may or may not have swallowed eye drops. This tool helped us determine she hadn’t invested enough, and ways to be on the look out. Super easy to use.
