## What is Webtrees mobile?

The family tree app is the mobile companion to your own webtrees genealogy website. Search your family tree, view people with all their facts, photos and relationships, and add new information on the go.

Features:
• Search for people and view their details (birth, death, occupation, photos and more)
• Edit facts directly in the app
• Add new people to the family tree
• Interactive family tree view with ancestors, siblings and children
• Take or choose photos for people
• Biometric unlock (Face ID / fingerprint)
• Available in English and German

The app connects to an existing webtrees installation (webtrees.net) – your family data stays on your own server, not with us.

Requires the api4webtrees module on the webtrees server: https://github.com/thobgg/api4webtrees

- Colour the family tree by family – with a legend to highlight single families
- Group similar spellings of a surname (setting in your profile)
- Full screen for the family tree, automatically in landscape
- The date field now speaks your language
- Revised Dutch translation

### 1.11.0 — 2026-10-27

- Show or hide surnames in the family tree
- Double-tap the selected person to open them; the zoom stays when switching people
- Now also works with webtrees in a subfolder
- The app starts in the language of your webtrees account
- Clearer error messages when connecting

### 1.10.0 — 2026-10-26

- Family tree shows more generations (1, 2, 3 or all)
- Selected person with surname and title, partner with married and birth name
- Turn, frame and describe photos from contribution requests before applying them
- Consistent menus and navigation improvements

### 1.9.0 — 2026-10-25

- Mark people on photos: draw a frame, pick the person – everyone gets their own part of the same photo
- A person's photo shows their part everywhere; adjust it any time
- Everything is stored right in the family tree as standard GEDCOM (GEDCOM 7, CROP) – no separate database, the original photo stays untouched, and an export takes it all along
- Describe photos before uploading: title, description, photo or document
- Marking and framing need a current version of api4webtrees on the server

### 1.7.0 — 2026-10-24

- View all photos of a person: swipe, thumbnail strip, choose the main photo, remove photos
- Add several photos at once
- Bug fixes
