## What is Weekend NZ?

Stop scrolling, start going. Weekend NZ plans your Auckland weekend in seconds — real places, real budgets, real weather.

HOW IT WORKS
Tell it who's coming and what you've got: budget, adults and kids, by car, transit or on foot, how far you want to go. Type it in plain words — "saturday, two adults, one kid, $100, no car" — and it understands on your device, no account needed. One tap builds a ready-to-go itinerary with drive and transit times taken from Apple Maps; where a leg cannot be routed it is labelled as an estimate.

PLANS THAT FIT REAL LIFE
• Hard budget filter — ticket prices are weighed against your budget before a plan is ever shown, and prices we couldn't verify are flagged, never invented
• Weather-aware — forecasts from Open-Meteo; when rain is coming, indoor picks like museums and the aquarium swap themselves in
• Two or three comparable plans every time: a relaxed outdoors version, a budget version, a wet-weather backup

MAKE IT YOURS
• Edit the day — reorder stops, change how long you stay, swap a place or drop one, and the timings work themselves out again
• The whole day on a map, and each leg handed to Apple Maps for step-by-step driving, transit or walking directions
• Surprise mode — feeling lucky? Roll a blind-box weekend picked for your date
• Check in after a trip and the planner stops repeating the same spots
• A heads-up if the forecast turns wet before a weekend you saved

A WHOLE LIBRARY
Eighteen curated Auckland places, each carrying the official source we checked and the date we checked it, plus a live Apple Maps search when you want something specific. Filter to free only, indoor only, or places that state step-free access.

SHARE IT & KEEP IT
Add a plan to your calendar, send yourself a shareable card of the day or of your year in footprints, and revisit every saved trip offline.

BUILT IN BOTH LANGUAGES
Switch the entire interface between English and 中文 at any time, including the places you plan.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no tracking, no ads, no data collection. Your plans, check-ins and settings stay on your device.

Weekend NZ is a planning aid, not a booking service. Prices, hours and conditions change — confirm with the venue. Built for Aucklanders and visitors who want a great weekend without the group-chat negotiation.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-10

This update is about telling you the truth more precisely. A day whose stops publish no opening hours now says so instead of assuming a closing time. Prices we could not check are labelled unverified rather than guessed. When Apple Maps cannot resolve one leg, only that leg falls back to a distance estimate and the plan labels it — your whole day no longer degrades because of one bad route. Editing a saved day no longer detaches it from your list, deleting now asks first and can be undone, the interface starts in your device language and stays readable at large text sizes, and the place library loads noticeably faster on first run.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-09-24
