## What is Wellscout?

Thinking about drilling a well? Start with what your neighbors actually found.

WellScout searches California's public well completion reports (over one million records from the Department of Water Resources' OSWCR database) around any address you enter. Type an address or use a saved location, set a search radius, and in seconds you get the full drilling history of the area.

WHAT YOU GET

• Every recorded well near you — depth, reported yield, static water level, casing, drilling method, planned use, and completion date, sorted by distance.

• Drill outlook — an honest, statistics-first summary: what share of nearby wells hit usable water (with confidence intervals), the yields 90%, 50%, and 10% of wells achieved, success rates by distance ring, yield by drilled depth, and water-level trends by decade.

• Driller log water strikes — where actual drillers reported hitting water, at what depth, and at how many gallons per minute, parsed from the original lithology logs.

• Site context — the mapped geologic unit at your location, a terrain analysis comparing valley and hillside well yields, and the nearest USGS groundwater monitoring data.

• Interactive map — every well as a color-coded marker (by yield), clustered and tappable, with your search radius drawn on OpenStreetMap.

• Original documents — jump straight to the scanned PDF of any well's official completion report.
