## What is Wendus?

Wendus is a local-first planning app for private wedding operations. It helps hosts and planners manage named wedding periods, editable schedule events, guests, households, RSVP status, seating, venue map sketching with optional scale calibration, event-day QR check-in, check-in-only venue handoff, spreadsheet guest-list import/export, encrypted event backup and restore, purpose-limited vendor exports, and post-event privacy closeout from an iPhone or iPad.

The event database is stored locally on the device by default. Venue mode QR check-in works without internet access, and Venue Handoff can use local peer-to-peer connectivity for encrypted nearby transfer. Venue map imports, scale calibration, and sketch marks stay local and are not included in Venue Handoff packets or vendor CSV exports. QR passes use opaque tokens, and vendor export previews show included fields, excluded fields, purpose, and sensitive-field warnings before a local CSV record is created.

Free Core supports one main wedding event with up to 50 guests. The local 3-day premium planning trial requires no payment and does not automatically charge. One Wedding Pass is a $50 single-use pass for one locked wedding period up to 4 weeks, with unlimited guests and multiple saved events inside that period.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-18

A friendlier welcome and safer imports. A new onboarding tour walks through what's included in Free Core and One Wedding Pass. Guest list import now updates only the columns you map — RSVPs, contacts, and check-ins are never cleared by a partial spreadsheet. The RSVP overview is color-coded and filters the reminder queue. Backup and archive restores are safer, privacy closeout now also removes seating drafts and staff packets, and device-migration reliability is improved.

### 1.2 — 2026-07-12

This major reliability and workflow update adds encrypted portable event backups, CSV column mapping with a live import preview, named seating-plan drafts with compare and restore, drag-and-drop seating, and safer household arrival-wave check-in. You can now delete guests, tables, rules, relationships, and schedule events; revoke or reissue QR passes; restore encrypted archives; and move a complete event to another Wendus device with a passphrase-protected backup. The update also improves device migration, persistence recovery, spreadsheet safety, and seating quality.

Adds calibrated venue map sketching from venue-provided PDFs/images, measured table and sketch-item footprints, venue-aware seating rules, smoother Free Core upgrade handling, and optional WhatsApp, Instagram, and SMS fields for manual guest entry and CSV workflows.
