## What is WerkBench?

WerkBench is one of the fastest sampling workflows on the planet. All controls are immediately accessible, musical, and fun!

At the heart of WerkBench are two step sequencers that can sample sounds directly into rhythms and then warp those sounds with synthesizer type controls and high-quality audio effects.

The concept is simple and powerful. You will be making awesome music in seconds!

Check out the videos on our website to get a better sense of what is happening here: www.bolasol.com/werkbench

WerkBench features:

--"Fancy Controls" (pitch, lowpass filters, highpass filters, envelopes, and more!)

--Edit the level, pitch, pan, low-pass filter, high-pass filter, envelope attack & decay, echo send, reverb send, and bit crusher effects independently for each of the 128 steps!

--All of these settings can be: performed and recorded in real-time, randomized, or programmed on the sequencer grids.

--Individual sequences can have arbitrary start and end points (they can even run backwards and be any length up to 16 steps)

--Chain sequences to build longer loops (1 - 128 steps!).

--Modeled tape echo for spacey effects with a sweet real-time visualizer, tempo sync, and free running modes.

--Reverb with fully sweep-able controls for decay, color (tone), and mix.

--Save and load loops or whole sessions of 8 patterns.

--Share loops between devices easily via airdrop, iTunes, e-mail, etc.

--Import wav files to chop up with our editor (the editor also works as a granular synthesizer!!)

--Export loops and recordings via Audio Copy, iTunes file sharing, and email.

--MIDI sync and MIDI note modes. Each of the 128 steps can be triggered on its own MIDI note.

--User-programable scales per side.

We hope you love it!

### 5/5 — Lovely, but needs AUv3 compatibility.

*2021-12-03, version 3.1.0*

I'm a fan who needs AUv3 compatibility for this app. This was one of my earliest discoveries when the first generation iPad was released. The app has improved it's aesthetics over the years. I only wish that it was an AUv3 which would make it even more powerful.

### 5/5 — iPhone version

*2021-04-17, version 3.1.0*

Really really cool app! Would it be possible to update the IPhone version? I miss playing around with that on the go!

### 2/5 — Astounded

*2018-11-10, version 3.1.0*

And not in a good way. This seems like an otherwise well written and creative app...but...and it’s a huge but, you import sounds by importing them into the app and replaying them and resampling onto a pad! Why?! Why wouldn’t you just pick a pad and have the sample loaded into it? Why on earth would u load a sound only to resample it using threshold recording!? I’m still honestly speechless as to why the dev would do this. It’s an extra step that is so easily avoided. How about pick a pad, import sample to pad...done. I never write reviews but this aggravated me so bad and it’s just a shame because otherwise the app seems to have had a lot of work put into it but this is the most simple thing and to get that wrong is just astounding. ( also it has echo on the import sample slot as well but you can’t use it..it’s there for ‘fun’ according to the manual...absolutely pointless)

### 5/5 — So good!

*2017-10-01, version 3.1.0*

Love Love Looooving the updates!! Buy it folks~

### 5/5 — This App ROCKS! Universal Soon....PLEASE!

*2017-09-30, version 3.1.0*

This is a classic on ipad and is not only easy and fun as noted, but a great professional music tool. There was an iphone version and rumor has it this is going universal...one can hope!

### 5/5 — This one is fantastic!

*2017-09-21, version 3.0.0*

Has been a favorite for years, and contains more features and deeper depths than I have ever been able to fully learn. A fantastic tool that will let you unleash your creativity while sampling your world.

Get this. Seriously. Just spend the seven dollars, and you will not regret it!

### 5/5 — Sampling, fun again!

*2017-09-19, version 3.0.0*

Been using this app for the last year and love it. The sampling is painless, and instant. You can fill up the 16 steps in the time it takes to make 16 sounds. The stuff you can make reminds me of weird little tape loops from the 60s, like the Radiophonic workshop or Simon & Garfunkel's"Cecilia".

One really special thing that makes the loops interesting, is how easy it is to make variations of samples for the different beats, rather than replaying the same sample over and over. You can make each one a little different, and it sounds different and less robotic than just using one sample over and over.

Solid performance for me on ipad air ios8.3. Hasn't crashed once.

Edit: Outstanding update to v3.0. Automation works great, scales for the pitch work a treat, nice look to the controls. Like the reverb and crush. No issues, on ipad air ios 10.3

### 5/5 — Werkit

*2017-05-13, version 2.1.0*

He he he

### 3/5 — Boring

*2016-01-21, version 2.1.0*

This one is fun for a while but the interface is clunky.and really needs a complete face lift.its twenty sixteen.and cartoon like interfaces are out.i want tools not graphic entertainment.especially with a sampling app.thats why I don't use it any more.

### 5/5 — Really, really fun! Working on iOS 9 for me

*2015-10-02, version 2.1.0*

It's a fantastic app. I haven't delved too deep into it yet but so far I love it. After installation, REBOOT. That clears up the crackles.
