I appreciate the written news articles rather than being bombarded with video links and news clips. I can always count public broadcasting and our local Pittsburgh crew to deliver the important events happening around us.

### 1/5 — WESA has pretty pictures but it is impossible to find news

*2021-01-04, version 4.4.17*

I listen the WESA every day. Because I live in Indiana County where radio reception is poor, I rely in the app. I started using it in 2009. At that time it was simple to use. There were lists and links to all sorts of podcasts. I could down load programs to my phone to listen on the road where there wasn’t ( and still isn’t) cell phone signal. It was a treasure. Since then it has evolved from a simple, easy to search on and small data using app that relied on typed words to an app that requires more data signal. Instead of lists there are endlessly rotating pretty pictures of past and current stories. To find things I might have missed I have to scroll and scroll and scroll through endless pictures.

Today took the cake. While listening to the news a picture about Act 77 allowing mail in ballots scrolled by. I read it. It is a very important story given the current claims that our votes are invalid. I used the button to share it on Facebook. It looked like it worked but it didn’t show up on my feed. Then I tried to email it to myself but all I got was a circle wait thing that wouldn’t stop. So, I had to close the app. I re-opened it to try again but now I can’t find the story at all! Can you please, please go back to a simpler app that lists the news? We do not need endlessly rotating pretty pictures. Go back to simple lists so we can find the news.

### 2/5 — It's a crap shoot

*2018-01-01, version 3.8.32*

I've used the app three times. All three times using the on demand feature. I think it streams the on demand shows, but I'm not sure. The first time it worked well, but the next two times it was a struggle to get the episode to play, closing the app and restarting it a couple times to get it to play. I wish I knew if I'm just being too impatient or if the app is buggy.

### 3/5 — Works well enough

*2018-02-07, version 3.8.32*

This app works well enough, but I can't make it do what I'd really like it to do-- play audio of the day's (or week's) local news stories.

### 4/5 — Works well, but…

*2026-05-08, version 6.3.1*

I wish I could listen to the HD2 Jazz stream thru the app instead of having to go through the website. Minor gripe, I guess. Enjoy it otherwise.

### 4/5 — Thanks for the app!

*2022-04-12, version 4.5.27*

I use this app all of the time. We are in a valley and radio reception is poor. Would give it 5 stars if they could figure out how not to have the app announce wesa every time I
move from WI-FI to cell.

### 4/5 — Excellent. Sometimes stopping and restarting is iffy.

*2018-12-10, version 3.9.14*

When I stop and start again, sometimes the player starts where I left off... and sometimes it starts with the program currently on air. I see the benefit in either option, but I wish it were more obvious how to choose or refresh.

Mainly, the app is indispensable. I use the app more than the radio itself.

### 4/5 — Outstanding App

*2018-04-17, version 3.8.32*

Easy to use and very dependable.

### 5/5 — Nice app for local and beyond

*2026-05-31, version 12.0.1*

I love that I can filter by WESA or NPR stories. Makes it the perfect one-stop app for both local news and national/global.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2026-04-19, version 6.3.1*

I use the WESA app every morning
One thing I find helpful with it is the on-demand section if I ever miss morning, edition, I can go right in the on-demand section and listen to the days episode

### 5/5 — Better than using Tune In

*2025-01-23, version 4.6.7*

Used to use Tune In to er, um tune in. The WESA app makes it much easier and reliable. Have not looked at other content but having a quick link to live radio is great

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Keeps me on top of the news

*2024-11-25, version 4.6.7*

NPR and WESA clearly have a liberal tilt, but then everyone sees the world through their coloured lenses. I depend on Morning Edition and All Things Considered to keep me informed. Much of the rest of the programming has too much of a progressive orientation.

### 5/5 — Excellent local and national news!

*2022-06-18, version 4.5.27*

It just works!

### 5/5 — Best reporters in Pittsburgh

*2021-12-07, version 4.5.27*

Best news source, easy to use app

### 5/5 — Glad to have it

*2021-06-21, version 4.5.7*

I used to listen via Safari on my iPhone. I like just tapping the app and the play button much better.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-05-22, version 4.5.7*

Best news source I’ve ever listened to. Definitely worth the download
