### 4/5 — popup regarding notification center

*2026-04-03*

Hello.
I wanted to ask if that constant notification center popup could be removed or at least have a "do not show again" option?
This issue has been fixed in iOs and isn't necessary for notifications to work.

### 4/5 — Lacks time change adjustment

*2023-11-16, version 2.5.1*

Otherwise I like it.

### 4/5 — Almost good

*2023-10-12, version 2.5.1*

Why can’t this app sound off when the phone is locked??? After all, REAL clocks work even when thel ‘lights’ are turned off

### 4/5 — Great app, needs higher chime sounds, issues with iOS 17

*2023-10-07*

so I got this app because I like the idea of my phone chiming on the hour or quarter hour or whatever you want. I use the spoken voice more often than not. However, I would like to see some higher quality chime sounds. And some different bell strikes on the hour for each chime type if you will. And right now, it does not seem to be working with iOS 17. I have the chimes, turned on, volume on high, and I’ve got it set to strike on the hour. I’m using the spoken voice granted. But I have tried it with other chimes in the past with iOS 17, and no results. Just thought I should throw that out there. There might be a disagreement with the app and iOS 17.

### 4/5 — Slow to keep up for iOS updates

*2023-09-30, version 2.5.1*

Every time that iOS releases a major update, this app stops working. The app is only updated about once a year. It’s a shame, because other than that, I really like the application.

### 4/5 — Please update for 17.1

*2023-09-25, version 2.5.1*

Please update the app. I really miss not having it Work new phone new ISO 17 does not like this app. Please do an update soon.

### 5/5 — I Like This App

*2023-09-12*

I like this app and use it all the time. There are the choices of chimes or a person speaking the time. I use the one where the person announces the time.

The only change I would like to see made is to have the actual time announced at the quarter hour, half hour, and 3/4 hour. Currently when those times are announced, they’re in the generic of “quarter past the hour,” “half hour,” and “quarter till the hour” and I do not know the actual time unless I look at the clock. I would like the actual time to be spoken.

### 5/5 — The best chime clock app around!

*2023-03-20, version 2.5.1*

I’m kinda a Clock person (sees room filled with clocks lol) but my absolute favorite kind of clock is the ones that chime. Among that category is the ones that chime every 15 minutes. So, this app is perfect! Not only does it have Westminster, Whittington, and St. Michael’s as an option, but also Canterbury and Winchester, which are extremely rare! It’s cool that you get those for only a couple bucks instead of spending $5,000 for a rare one on eBay. And the chimes are lovely, too, I love hearing them. It’s also handy to have on my phone when I’m not near my quarterly chimes from my Seiko. And bonus, I can easily go into the app in 2 seconds and turn them on or off as needed. So, if I wanted to watch YouTube or something, I can turn them off (but I don’t want to)
So, if you love chime clocks as much as I do, get this app. You won’t regret it.

(All this said, however, there is a glitch that happens whenever I turn on my ambient tracks. It happened with a different chime app too, so it could just be my iPad being low on storage, but every once in a while, it’ll chime, but then it’ll get stuck in an endless loop and just repeat the chime over and over. The only way to turn it off is either by spamming the volume buttons over and over or powering the device off. Again, not so much on the app as the device I’m using to stream the chimes. Feel free to take this as a tip to not fill your iPad full of crap for the chimes to work properly all the time.)
Have a great day! Hope my review was helpful.

### 4/5 — Nice

*2023-02-10, version 2.5.1*

Nice simple app that does what it says. I like that I can choose a start and end time but it would be great if I could also choose days that it is active. But this is a minor quibble otherwise it is just what I was looking for. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2023-01-03*

Works well in iOS 16; as long as notifications are configured to be sound only. Otherwise, some sounds are truncated.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2022-12-19, version 2.5.1*

Wasn’t working after ios 16 update but i got it to work finally. Disabled the locked screen notification. Not sure if thats what did it … but at least it works again!

### 5/5 — Everything I'm looking for

*2022-12-06, version 2.5.1*

I love this app; it is everything I've been looking for. The only recommendation I would have would be to make the audio ducking on the initial chimes optional. Invariably, the chimes begin when I'm listening to something important. I would like to be able to hear other audio at the same time as I'm hearing the chimes.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — If it worked…

*2026-08-08*

I’m sure it would be great, and just what I wanted. Only, despite setting it up as detailed in the app, I won’t chime.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2026-05-30, version 2.6.0*

I used to have this app a long time ago. I decided to reinstall it again, but now it no longer works.

### 1/5 — DOESN’T WORK WHEN PHONE IS LOCKED

*2025-06-22*

I love this app but it does not work when Iphone is locked. I checked everything in settings and made certain banner style was off, but nothing. Works fine when unlocked, but when locked, forget it! Am I missing something. I did notice one thing though. It says that it will not chime more then 12 hrs when a start time and end time is set. Well, surprise but I had the start time at 9am and end time at 10pm and so that is a total of 13hrs with having all 4 quarters selected. The only reason why it stopped chiming the hour after the second dong at 10pm was because of my DND being set to start at 10pm. This app would be worth the $1.99 if it would chime when phone is locked. I will not leave my phone unlocked as that will only cause the battery to drain quicker. What do I do to get the clock to chime when phone is locked?? Some I guess call it dark mode as when phone is locked the screen will go dark. I never saw anything in settings regarding the app working in dark mode when phone is locked. I tried finding a way to contact the developer, but I found no way to do so. I am blind and use voiceover and although there is a website for the developer, I could not find anything that would allow me to contact him. Can someone please help me? If this app can work in dark mode or when phone is locked, then I’ll change my rating from a 3* to a 5* RATING. Thanks.

### 1/5 — Didn't work on iPhone 30 max plus!

*2024-10-06*

Did the notification as the screen prompt instructions but no chimes ☹️

### 1/5 — Love the sound! But no longer works with Apple Updates

*2023-12-06, version 2.6.0*

This was the best app for Westminster chimes. But it stopped working a few updates ago.

### 1/5 — App does not work with current iOS

*2023-09-23*

So I see we can’t contact Luther oft. The makers of this application. That actually disturbs me. And one instance of the operating system it was broken. Then in another instance they fix it. Now here we are up to iOS 17.0.1 and it’s broken again. So of course I downloaded the app again after deleting it from my phone and then reinstalled it. the problem with this is the following. I don’t want a bunch of notifications showing up in my notifications center just to get the sound to work. Is there a workaround for this or will they update this? I certainly hope so as I love this app.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work. Like, at all.

*2023-07-01, version 2.5.1*

I watched the video first. I set it up exactly how it should be set up. It’s been an hour and I have not heard the chimes once. I guess I should’ve tried it before I spent money on it?

### 1/5 — App does not chime on iphone 12

*2022-11-01, version 2.5.1*

I have given it sounds in notifications, etc. Not a peep.

### 1/5 — Sometimes it works

*2022-02-17, version 2.5*

And sometimes it doesn’t. Don’t buy.

### 1/5 — Tech support

*2022-02-09, version 2.5*

After purchasing 3 in app features the clock still doesn’t allow me to change melodies. I have written to the developer still have not received a response. If you are sure you want this app be sure you have all your questions answered.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — In excellent app for Clock enthusiast

*2026-04-01*

Has a blind user this app is 100% voiceover accessible and I appreciate it. The only chime it’s missing would be really cool is if they had the ships bell watch time at the developers interested I’d be happy to explain how this works but those of us in the sea Services the Navy, the Coast Guard, the Marine Corps, the US public health service in NOA commission core all understand what this means but basically it’s eight bells every four hours. It would have to be a separate recording and when I understand that, but man would that make this so wonderful. I also agree that although the chimes are very nice, it would be nice to have different bell sounds for different chimes or perhaps actual recordings of the chimes rather than a MIDI set up, which is what appears to be all in on excellent app just trying to make it better. I hope the developer writes me back.

### 5/5 — Works Perfectly!

*2026-03-28, version 2.6.0*

Definitely watch the YouTube video on setting up the app. After installing the app and followed the setup instructions, the app worked flawless, even if the iPhone is locked.

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2026-03-04*

I love having a chiming clock on my phone. My favourite is the Westminster Chimes, but I occasionally switch to the Whittington Chimes for a bit to make a change. Thanks for making the app accessible with VoiceOver too!

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2025-12-15*

I’ve spent years looking for something that would work like this. If you’ve ever lived around bells like this, you know that, after the hourly chimes, they ring slowly, one ring for every hour passed. I just realized what a difference it makes that I can close my eyes and immediately discover what time it is just by counting the bells. It feels like the chimes of freedom flashing!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-09-26, version 2.6.0*

Delivers as advertise flawlessly.

### 5/5 — Rings my bell!

*2024-12-11, version 2.6.0*

I like the rich sound, the quarter chimes, and the options for other clocks.

### 5/5 — Everything I'm looking for

*2024-11-16*

I love this app; it is everything I've been looking for. The only recommendation I would have would be to make the audio ducking on the initial chimes optional. Invariably, the chimes begin when I'm listening to something important. I would like to be able to hear other audio at the same time as I'm hearing the chimes.

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2024-10-21, version 2.6.0*

This app is sheer brilliance, not only for saving the cost of buying and maintaining a chiming clock, but also for allowing us to know the time at night without having to look at a clock.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-12-07, version 2.6.0*

I've always liked chiming clocks, so it's great to have Westminster Chimes on my phone, it sounds exactly like a chiming clock you'd have in your house. This pro version is even better because it's more customisable, I usually have the chimes going from 9 AM to 10 PM. I love that you can choose what quarters you want to chime, that's really useful because if I'm listening to an audiobook I change it to only chime every hour, but apart from that I set it to chime all the quarters. I'm completely blind, so thanks for making it accessible with VoiceOver as well.

### 5/5 — ios 17

*2023-09-18, version 2.5.1*

grate app but sadley it don't work on ios 17
