Using the iOS notifications feature, Westminster Chimes converts your phone into an old fashioned hourly chiming clock, playing the traditional Westminster Chimes tune. With an optional in-app purchase, you can unlock additional chime melodies:

• Whittington
• St. Michael's
• Canterbury
• Winchester

Another in-app purchase allows for complete customization:
• Separately set the chimes to play on each quarter hour

### 5/5 — I love the chimes!

*2026-05-10*

I love this app so much! The Westminster Chimes are perfect because the notes of each chime are different, and extended and that makes it awesome. However, I have always wanted the PM hours to have the hour chime be a little bit higher pitched than the AM hours. I feel like that would be awesome because I have mine go all the time!

### 5/5 — Liked it well enough to pay, still happy I did

*2026-03-31*

MAR2026
The chimes are great, they help with time-awareness while I’m focused elsewhere. While I like the chimes, they do bother/distract some people in the vicinity. (Which is why I tried the voice version.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There should be a couple of additional voice options, one with an introductory chime and one without a chime, both with a voice simply saying, “It’s 3 PM.”
“It’s 3:15 PM.” “It’s 3:30 PM.” etc..
Example: Chime, then voice announcing “It’s 3 PM.”
Simple, precise, quick.
Personally, I don’t care for the imprecise phrase “It’s half past the hour.” Which hour?? I was outside of hearing range when it said “It’s top of the hour, 3 o’clock,” 30 minutes ago. Also, “It’s top of the hour” yeah, I’ve never heard anyone use that phrase IRL. Maybe it’s an old English idiom meant to match the chimes?
Anyway I’m going back to the chimes and will create yet another Focus so I can turn them off occasionally.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do I recommend this 99¢ app which does Not collect our personal information? Absolutely! Just bc I want a couple of new features, doesn’t mean I don’t like it.

### 5/5 — Useful Tool For Time Blindness

*2026-03-09*

The hourly chimes were sort of helping so I figured I may as well pay for the upgrades to make the app more customizable for my needs. It was worth the small fee! I am able to have it only run during the hours I want to be productive. Using the voice option to announce the time (rather than have to count the chimes) keeps me from spending an entire day down a rabbit hole.

I would love more voice options if the creator ever has the urge to tinker with the app.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work

*2026-01-18*

Follow the instructions how to activate in the notification. Didn’t work for iPhone

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work at All

*2025-08-18, version 2.6.0*

I have notifications turned on, my phone is NOT in silent mode. Broken app

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-05-23, version 2.6.0*

I have enjoyed this app since 2018. Love when people look around for a clock. When I tell them that it’s my phone, they want it too.

### 5/5 — Great app, I use it to measure time more effectively

*2025-05-15*

I love this app, really helps me be more aware of how much time is passing and helps me not waste time. Currently I’m using the every 30 min chime to remind me to stand. I wouldn’t mind if there was also an Apple Watch version!

### 1/5 — They take your money even though the app is not updated to current iOS

*2025-03-10, version 2.6.0*

I understand a developer might not want to keep updating its app to keep up with current times, but you should either tell customers it won’t work with any iOS after 10 or whatever, or shut off the pay feature AND tell people it won’t work with the most recent iOS systems.

### 3/5 — Great when it’s working

*2024-08-28*

I use this app on an old first-generation iPhone SE and have been very happy with it. After I updated the phone to iOS 15.8.3, the app didn’t chime. I’ve just tried it again and now it’s working, though I haven’t changed anything on the phone. So this app is great when it’s working but may not be entirely reliable.

### 1/5 — No longer works after iOS update

*2024-08-03*

I use this app on an old first-generation iPhone SE and have been very happy with it. But after I updated the phone to iOS 15.8.3, the app doesn’t chime. I’ve double-checked the Notifications settings and sound volume, so the problem is incompatibility with the iOS version. I hope this will be fixed, since I have a paid version of the app.
