You know the situation where you may play a chord, and just slide your finger up a fret on one string, or take another finger off and think how nice the chord sounds and wonder what on earth the chord has now become? Well this app will tell you exactly which chord you are playing, so it is a great learning tool. I would have given 5 stars, but to me, when you open the app up, the fretboard seems to be upside down, which means I have to rotate my phone 180 degrees. A great feature to add if the developers can manage it, would be to make it possible to hear the chords as you build them on the app. Thoroughly recommend the app to all guitarists as a great little pocket reference tool. **Developer response:** Thank you for you feedback. I don’t want to look up a cord and it’s not easy. ### 2/5 — Chord Names are Wrong *2018-10-25, version 1.0.4* This can only name basic chords that anyone beyond a beginner would already know. Anything else it cannot name correctly. It can’t even name major and minor triads. I guess it’s fine for beginners, but for more complicated chords, like what you would actually need a chord naming tool for, it spits out some nonsense or nothing at all. ### 3/5 — App won’t close *2026-02-13, version 1.0.8* Works pretty well to identify chords but gets stuck open. It also invites some fun exploration with the opportunity to plot points along the fingerboard and see what pops up.
