Could have done with the expanding the story a bit but would look forward to another if there is one. ### 4/5 — Decent game *2021-06-27, version 1.17* No fancy graphics here, but some of my favourite puzzle games are exactly like that and it is absolutely not necessary. There are not many easy puzzles here and so prepared to be challenged! Nothing ridiculously difficult, but nothing is handed on a plate to you either. The one criticism I would have is the controls are not intuitive. I kept finding myself pressing the wrong ones and I think they could be made to work much better. It could just be me of course, but I think with a little tweaking it could be made to work much better. ### 2/5 — Clunky and missing some key play support *2020-04-08, version 1.15* Ok. So in essence this is a pretty game. Crisp graphics and quite real looking structures. For the price, I found it a disappointment. I’ve played most of the games like this and there are some key play support tools that are required in this game, otherwise you need a notebook and pen which then takes away the “mobile” playability. For instance, if this game had a snapshot function, such as in forever lost, you could get to the puzzles without having to keep opening your very clunky inventory over and over again. The fact that there isn’t a select and drag function on inventory items makes it a poor playing experience. A sketch function would also enhance this game. All in all, shows promise but when you are paying more for an app than the room or da Vinci code etc, you expect similar, if not better in game experiences. ### 2/5 — What did I miss? *2020-03-14, version 1.15* Game was okay. Puzzles were interesting. But the game ends abruptly and you never find out What lies underground. I was really hoping to an answer to the question. Is there an episode 2? ### 3/5 — Not bad *2019-07-10, version 1.11* I had fun playing this game, with a few exceptions. First of all, for 4 bucks it was a little on the short side. Second, the inventory system was unnecessarily complicated, and should have been more user friendly. Third, the game involved a little too much wandering around clicking on random things, because solving a puzzle did not necessarily lead you in any particular direction. And fourth, what were the wrench and the feather for? I’ve been waiting to purchase this game because I saw a lot of people were having problems with it. I figured you had added enough patches and everything was probably ironed out, so I finally bought it yesterday. Started playing about an hour ago. In the first room on the right, I unlocked the top part of the big desk that has stationary, envelopes and pens in the smaller drawers. I know what’s in the drawers because of the dialogue, not because I can see what’s in the drawers. None of them open even though it sounds like they are opening. I’ve continued playing, and a lot of the drawers don’t visually open. I hear them, and the game seems to register that they are opening, but I don’t know if I’m getting everything I need because I’m stuck. Please please PLEASE fix this because I really want to play this game. It looks so fun and challenging! And I want to give it 5 stars. It has so much potential! ### 5/5 — Excellent Escape Game! *2019-01-20, version 1.7* I thoroughly enjoyed this game from start to finish. Clear, uncluttered graphics, unusual and interesting puzzles. A couple of proper head scratchers in there as well. I’ve played twice and still the one of the achievements eludes me so I’ll have to play again! No hardship as it’s a pleasure to play. I love the text explanations and the little humorous comments when you try something weird. I have a couple of little niggles:- I don’t like hidden inventories. They involve a lot of extra tapping which I find a bit annoying. I’d rather have a scrolling inventory to the side or along the bottom. Some items were obtained without “seeing” them in situ, like in a drawer. Whereas other items were obtained by, for example, opening a drawer and taking the item. I found this a bit confusing - especially if you tap away quickly and miss the text. These really are small things and are probably very personal dislikes and in no way took away from my overall enjoyment of this well thought through, polished game. I for one can’t wait to see what this talented one man band will produce next! Well done Stuart! It took me hours to solve all the puzzles on my iPhone and iPad but I really enjoyed playing „What Lies Underground“ :-D I liked the details of the scenery, especially if I keep in mind that all of the game is made by a single person! I’ve found a bug while playing the game. After I’ve reported the issue the developer, he verified it very quickly and fixed it within just a few hours. I’m very curious about the possible next part of the mystery! ### 4/5 — Clever *2018-12-13, version 1.5* The game had some fun puzzles that are different than many other point and click adventures. There’s no storyline, but that didn’t really bother me. Graphics are nice. I really liked the clever responses when some things are attempted. Note that there is an error in one puzzle clue: The burned paper has a mistake in the “5” column at the bottom. No glitches, worked fine. The game really makes you think and keeps you engaged. No issues with the game play once the updates had been installed. All of the puzzles were solvable with the clues in the game, they just took a little thought. I think that’s a good thing! I also liked that several puzzles were kind of “open” at the same time, so you could make some progress on a puzzle, do some work somewhere else, and come back to the first puzzle once an idea clicked. I hope this developer makes more games and I’ll be checking back to see if they do! ### 5/5 — A really good game *2024-06-25, version 1.19* I just replayed this after a couple of years and was happily surprised to see how well it holds up. The puzzles are challenging and interesting and tricky - the best kind imo. I def needed a couple of hints and the hint guide on the website is great.
