But what can you expect from the swamp? ### 2/5 — Typical General Explanation *2021-02-22, version 2.1.26* Quick reference to searching coverage, but very general response for coverage. For example it says covered if medically necessary or at high risk. When the physician says for your age and what he sees from the lab test result you need to have such and such test done (e.g. bone density), it means necessary and you are at high risk. But, then Medicare denies the claim even though they know your age and that is was ordered by the physician. ### 1/5 — Unhelpful *2021-01-18, version 2.1.26* I am a transgender person on Medicare, and despite Medicare offering transgender healthcare coverage, this app offers no information about it whatsoever. Not all people on Medicare are cisgender and the developers of this app should accommodate them, too. ### 3/5 — Expanded Search Terms & Save Would Improve *2021-01-04, version 2.1.26* The app is a useful reference, but it could be more helpful if search results recognized frequently used shorthand and keywords related to common services, procedures, tests/labs, etc. (e.g. TSH, T4, HbA1c) and returned either a notification of non-coverage, medically necessary coverage (with clear instructions on the process to determine eligibility), or related results based on less strict rules than whatever the system has established through its keyword system (or lack thereof). The ability to log in to mymedicare or at least favorite/save pages locally to phone or cloud backup for quick reference would also be helpful. ### 1/5 — Would rate 5 *2020-07-15, version 2.1.20* But they don’t have any preventive measure for epilepsy and I’m epileptic and just got approved for Medicare so it’s a kind of scary because I don’t want my epilepsy to get out of hand 🖐 again since Medicare doesn’t have a preventative measure for epilepsy 😢 ### 1/5 — App won’t load!!! *2020-01-20, version 2.1.20* While trying to open the app, it says Error Unable To Load at the top of a blank screen! It has the latest update version and it’s installed on a newer iPhone! ### 2/5 — Not very useful *2019-12-06, version 2.1* This app is very limited in usefulness - not a good search engine. Most search programs today can handle natural language terms like “uterine biopsy” but not this one. To make it truly helpful it should include finding physicians near me who accept Medicare (not always in my home area). Every time I try to open it I get blank blocks of blue gray or white. No content! So I loaded this app to see why. The explanation was “Laboratory tests include certain blood tests, urinalysis, tests on tissue specimens, and some screening tests.” Well, THAT certainly clears it up! WHAT blood tests? WHAT screening tests? ### 3/5 — A good start *2019-08-29, version 2.1* This is handy for a quick check on possible coverage. The app does not yet address all possible coverages (for example, cataract surgery), but we have to assume it is constantly being upgraded. Obviously this app does not replace the need to refer directly with your medical provider and Medicare to determine your possible coverage. ### 1/5 — Where’s my Medicare card *2019-08-14, version 2.1* I don’t carry my Medicare card everywhere I go but I do carry my iPhone. So why don’t you make this useful by including my Medicare card and other info that would make it easier for me and other Medicare recipients to use the benefits I’ve paid for over the last 50 years. ### 1/5 — Provider list difficult to find & read *2019-07-10, version 2.1* Needs to have a Medicare Provider list to be able to check doctors and there credentials easily- it wasn’t!! The app sent me to another Medicare.gov link and when I finally figured out how to get to a specialty and tried to pull up specific linked info on Doctor it should something for a split second and gone - until to read details. They Must do better job on this app to make it user friendly to navigate and actually find and be able to read information if they want people to use it for goodness sake and not have to call call call Medicare. Put our tax dollars to good use in this technology age - maybe private sector can help develop this app to be worthwhile?$? ### 1/5 — Waste of Time *2019-06-10, version 2.1* I attempted 2 distinct searches and came up empty handed in each case. Waste of time. For example, try typing in “skin cancer” and you get absolutely no information about what tests and treatments are covered. Good idea; poor execution. ### 1/5 — Just basic information *2019-06-10, version 2.1* Below was my review and I was given an option to contact the developer but that link was not working. So I will down grade. My review for that not working either. This app gives very basic information. My job for many years as a nurse was to insure procedures were covered as well as staying on top of all the procedure code changes and discharge planning. I can tell you as a person signing up for the first time it is inundating. This site is not set up to offer you exact or multiple coverages on many things because there are many caveats. No one procedure is Necessarily the same even though it may have the same generic name. It’s best to ask you physician, but in most cases they will need to see you. Lol I know what most of you are thinking and I agree. Good luck. ### 1/5 — More confusing than actually calling Medicare *2023-05-14, version 3.0.0* This app is of very little use. Just more of the if/and/but run around you get when you call. Recently had to undergo treatments for a known condition. This app doesn’t list it, but does list the area of medicine. It says to call your doctor. I call the doctor and they tell me to call Medicare. Medicare says to call my doctor…and round and round we go, with no way of getting answers until you get a $500 bill. This app is of little to no use in helping avoid this situation. ### 1/5 — Needs update! *2023-01-08, version 2.1.28* It still shows the shingles vaccine as not covered. All possible benefits if they are applicable to me or not. Up to me to find out if they apply. I need more help determining what is applicable to me, not showing me everything. I want the app to track my benefits, advise me of the preventive services available to me, and when I last used a preventative service, and when I can use it again. Not rocket science. In a perfect world it would also show me if a different medicare plan would be a better fit - app was not downgraded for not having this. ### 1/5 — Worthless, think it was paid for by big business. *2022-02-21, version 2.1.27* If it wasn’t paid for directly by big business they certainly had a hand in it. Might have received it free from big business to peddle its expansive goods. I tried to search for what brands of glucose monitors Medicare would pay for. The only information it would supply was for the one business makes the most on for the initial purchase, and for supplies after that. It was totally silent with it came to standard , less expensive glucose monitors. Someone should research how this app was acquired. Or research who got paid off to adopt it. ### 1/5 — Frustrating *2021-11-17, version 2.1.26* Since the user is not a medical scholar it would be nice to list procedures in layman's terms. I am having my knee replaced and everything is in place. BUT, I was curious what the app said about it. Searched for it many ways with no luck. Looked under K. Nothing there. If I cannot search and get a response for total knee replacement or a variant of same then the app is useless. User friendly. ### 5/5 — Just loaded v2.1 on iPad (6th generation) *2019-06-04, version 2.1* The download took only about three seconds. It works very fast because of no graphics and pictures. You can jump page to page without any pause. I read some of the reviews but all were from Jan & Feb 2019. It appears most of the common complaints were address Landscape view works and search is just perfect. A drop down list starts on the first letter just like most google and amazon searches do. There are three tabs on the bottom and one is for a Preventive Services only list. A nice feature. As stated in the home page that is it a quick overview but I’m sure more functions will be added as time goes on. A nice feature would be a link to your personal supplemental policy that sends search tags. Then your supplemental plan would shows its benefits from the search. It gives you quick access to most Medicare coverage questions like what Medicare part (A or B) covers this service and how much it pays. The descriptions are not comprehensive. For example, it doesn’t tell you that the inpatient hospital stay has to be 3 consecutive nights to qualify or that each benefit period is separated by 60+ days. I just wish there was a back feature so I could go back to the screen I was viewing beforehand. ### 4/5 — Not too bad *2019-01-30, version 1.0.4* Not bad for what it’s purpose is. Simply shows what Medicare covers and what it doesn’t. REALLY needs a back button tho. ### 4/5 — Hard to enter keyboard mode on XS-Max *2019-01-30, version 1.0.4* The text input box overlays the iPhone screen cutout at the top of the iPhone XS-Max. I’m guessing any iPhone with the screen cutout has the same issue. Very difficult to get the focus in the search box and bring up the keyboard. Update: Current refresh addresses this issue. Thank you. ### 4/5 — I was hoping that this had access to my Medicare account *2019-01-28, version 1.0* So I could keep track of previous services and suggested services, but it’s just a list of what’s available. Regardless of how crappy our national medical outlook is, medicare is still pretty generous with what it covers. I had sick sinus syndrome starting last year and they covered a dual valve pacemaker for me. But there still needs to be better coverage for not only dental but also orthodontics. It’s the one huge gap in the system. Well, two huge gaps seeing as how the system covers I exams but no longer helps you with access to glasses or lenses. ### 4/5 — Needs a “back” function *2019-01-28, version 1.0* Simple app does what it says on the tin. But it desperately needs a way to back up a page instead of having to start over after every item looked at.
