WhatTrain is the subway app for New Yorkers. You already know the subway system. You just want to know *when* your train is coming. That's what WhatTrain gives you. • Open the app for a list of all the trains around you, sorted by departure time, omitting those you couldn't reach on foot. • Tap on a train to view the full schedule at its station along with walking directions. • Check the Status tab for delays or service changes. • Check the Map tab for the MTA subway map. Swipe right for other versions of the map, including one showing accessible stations. REALTIME TRAIN TIMES: WhatTrain incorporates the latest realtime information provided by the MTA. If you see "LIVE" next to a train, that is the MTA's realtime estimate based on live data. PRIVACY: WhatTrain respects your privacy. WhatTrain does not collect or retain your location information or any other personally identifying information about you (including your IP address). The app uses your location locally, and that's it. (As with any app that uses Apple's Location Services, using WhatTrain may expose your location to Apple.) Don’t leave home without it. ### 5/5 — Effective and simple *2019-10-30, version 1.33* I don’t know why this app isn’t more popular. It’s simple and sufficient if you already know generally how to get around. You get a quick glimpse on all nearby train options and when the next train is so you can make a snap decision as to how you want to go. And there’s a tab for you to see if there are train delays or changes - saves time from clicking into the MTA website. It is a little hard to see the message sometimes when it’s super long because all the sentences flow together without any sectioning to separate out the stops that are affected. And I’m really happy about the addition of the maps. Now I don’t have to use NextStop (my other train app) to check for alternatives. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! I definitely agree with you about the long train statuses. That’s next on my list of things to try to improve. The MTA distributes those statuses in a fairly developer-unfriendly way, but other apps parse them to be more readable than my app does. So, it’s doable; I just need to spend the time to do it.
