## What is Where I Stand?

Stand anywhere in the United States and find out who represents that spot.

Where I Stand turns a location into an answer: your state, your county, your city or town, your congressional district, and the people who hold those seats. Tap a name to call their office, write to them, or see how they voted on the laws that mattered.

NOT JUST CONGRESS
Most of the law you actually meet — schools, policing, housing, roads, courts — is written in a state capitol by someone almost nobody can name. Where I Stand shows your state senator and state representative beside your members of Congress, for all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico: 7,421 legislators in 6,831 districts.

IT WORKS WHERE YOU ARE, AND WHERE YOU'RE GOING
Point at any spot on the map — a town you're driving toward, a place you've never been, the district next door. You don't have to be standing there. The app is built for travelers and the curious as much as for constituents: every roster is headed by the place it belongs to, never by you.

VOTES, AND THE MONEY THAT FOLLOWED THEM
For each representative, see how they voted on the major laws passed since 2021, beside the federal money that reached their district. Some members voted against bills that funded their own districts. The app shows both without editorializing, and says where every number came from and when it was pulled.

NO SIGNAL REQUIRED
Every boundary, every district, every place record ships inside the app. There is no map server to reach and nothing to download at the roadside. It works in a canyon, on a plane, and in the parts of the country where coverage is a rumor.

BUILT TO BE READABLE
Text scales to 200% on top of your system setting. There's a high-contrast mode, a plain-language mode that turns statistics into sentences, a one-handed layout, and party colors chosen to stay distinguishable for red-green color blindness — with letter badges always shown, so color is never the only signal. Every control is labeled for VoiceOver and TalkBack.

WE DO NOT COLLECT YOUR LOCATION
Working out where you are happens on your phone, against the data bundled in the app. We don't collect your location, we don't store it, and we don't have a server to send it to.

The app does send Expo, who host its updates, measurements of how quickly it starts and moves between screens, and the details of any unexpected error, so we can tell when it has become slow or broken on real phones. Those carry no location and nothing you typed, and they are labeled with a code identifying this installation — which can survive reinstalling — rather than anything about you. The app is supported by ads, and our ad partner collects information for that purpose. All of it is described in the privacy policy.

State legislators from Open States (public domain). Votes from the House Clerk and the Senate. Federal spending from USAspending.gov. Official portraits from unitedstates/images.
