Upon finding out that Whistlr is trademarked, I had to see what this is all about. The name for the app concept was a bit confusing but I love start ups and wanted to show some love. Butttttt I cannot sign up as the verification email never delivers. I saw the last update was 7 months ago as well. Is whistlr no more? Was this a school project? Did funding stall it? If this is ghost app now, can use the name for a completely different app? Now I’m vested. I’m all in.  And I’ll absolutely change the review if I get a reply before the new year.

We've been heads-down for the last few weeks, and this update is a big one. Here's everything we packed in for you:

- Avatar Halos are finally here
We wanted your avatar to feel like yours — not just a photo in a circle. So we built Halos: animated decorations that wrap around your avatar and follow you everywhere you show up, from the feed to your profile, chats, Minis, and Flow. Head to Edit Profile or tap the new "Add a halo" shortcut in your profile menu to pick your vibe. And don't worry — we made sure only one animates at a time so your feed stays buttery smooth no matter how many Halos are on screen.

- Make the app truly yours with custom icons
Your home screen is personal, so now Whistlr can match it. Choose from our Default look or the new Apex color set — Blue, Ember, Pink, Cobalt, and Grey. We even built a real home-screen preview with wallpapers and a dock, so you can see exactly how your new icon will look before you commit. You'll find it waiting for you in Account Center.

- A profile that finally feels like home
We rebuilt your profile from the ground up. There's a new hero layout with your avatar right beside your name, bios now sit in quotes so they read like you said them, and your Friends and Friend Of stacks live right under your bio. Tap the song disc and it pauses to reveal the track. If your profile's feeling empty, we added friendly prompts to help you fill it in — and when you're editing, you'll see your changes mirrored live so there are no surprises.

- Moods are back
You asked, we listened. Set a text-only mood on your profile and in Account Center, sitting right next to your location. No clutter — just a few words on how you're feeling today.

- Never miss who's LIVE
We want you in the moment, so live viewer counts now show up across your Friends list, post cards, and Minis. One glance and you'll know exactly who's streaming right now. Behind the scenes we built a whole new Live Activities engine so this stays fast and reliable.

- PX News, reimagined
Tap the logo on your Home screen and you'll open a brand-new, full-screen updates space — the latest news, a "New" badge so you never miss a fresh drop, and full offline support so it loads instantly even when your signal doesn't.

- A media feed that just feels better
We reworked how media posts look and flow. Photos and videos now go edge-to-edge with the poster's info right on top and your caption and reactions tucked neatly below. Videos start faster, transitions are cleaner with no more black flashes, and there's now one simple mute switch for the whole feed.

- Minis & Friends, leveled up
We gave Minis and Friends a fresh, familiar layout, built an independent Friends feed so you see more of the people you actually care about, and cleaned up theater chat with floating reactions that make watching together more fun.

- And a whole lot of polish
We rebuilt sign-up and onboarding, added a glowing new wordmark, sped up the splash screen, smoothed out navigation, brought back tap-to-top on Home, and squashed a pile of bugs along the way. Little things — but you'll feel them.

Cleaner, faster comment replies. We've refined the comment reply experience for speed and clarity. Conversations flow easier, threads read cleaner, and everything just feels sharper.

A smoother login and onboarding. We've polished the sign-in and first-time experience even further. Getting into Whistlr has never been this seamless.

Video thumbnails, finally. You can now set custom thumbnails on your video posts. First impressions matter — now you get to design yours.
Faster messaging and inbox. We've tuned messaging and the inbox for noticeably quicker load times and smoother interactions. Conversations should keep up with you, not the other way around.

A revamped comment section. Comments and threaded replies have been rebuilt for clarity and depth. Follow the conversation without losing the thread — literally.
Smoother onboarding for new users. We've refined the first-time experience even further. Joining Whistlr has never felt this easy.
