However I don't like the change in the volume control as I now have to turn the volume up a lot more to get the same level of sound I had before the latest version. I also now use it for my son. So many options and just the best sound quality and seamless loops. There are many easy-to-ignore ambient sound loops that will help to mask any otherwise distracting sounds. However I started traveling for a living and needed to leave it at home. This app makes every hotel room a room I can sleep in regardless of external noises. My brain hears my favorite consistent sleep sounds (that I was able to mix with the purchase app) and I sleep well. A few years ago there was an update that made it drain iPad battery. That was bad enough. Now the latest iOS update plus latest version of the app makes it shut off after 1 min of the screen being off. I’ve adjusted every setting I can find, but no luck. Still works on my phone, but I can’t sacrifice my phone battery to being plugged in all night like I did the iPad. This sucks. I don’t want to find a new app. ### 1/5 — Not worth it *2025-11-06, version 8.2* If you can’t start it with a timer, what good is it? ### 1/5 — Sound shuts off with screen on iPad/phone. *2025-02-23, version 8.0.23* Unless you leave the screen on, which lights up the whole room, your sound will shut off one minute after shutting off the screen. There are no settings to fix this and when I sent a request for help, it was ignored. However, timers no longer work the way they did under earlier versions of iOS, and Airplay connection for use through timers to go to sleep or awaken to sounds barely functions these days. I used to use it to stream wakeup sounds to my Sonos speakers, but it will no longer maintain an Airplay connection until morning, even when leaving the app in foreground as suggested by the developers. They removed forums from their site, so no more user help or way to express dissatisfaction. And the site itself contains a series of sorry excuses and workarounds for “modern” iOS devices that didn’t exist for earlier versions of iOS. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — The art of Zzzz *2026-08-15* The app is simple to use. You can tune and mix different sounds together. You can also download sounds from the marketplace. Maybe you want to sleep out under the stars, on a beach, on a sailboat, sheltered in a cave during a storm, or cozy in the back of a car during a down pour. Whatever number of sounds together. Decide how they pan, decide the volume of each, just an absolutely genius app that I wish I’d written. Get it. It is also a sleep aid, especially since I am an early-to-bed kind of guy, and my wife tends to be a night owl. I used to use an app called Simply Noise, but it was not updated to fit the most recent iOS versions. I'm using White Noise Pro, which is much more diverse than Simply Noise and allows an ad-free experience. The developers have combined photos and sound to provide a very pleasing experience.
