### 3/5 — Streaming Issues

*2026-08-06, version 7.1.1*

This was my sole weather app, but during last few warnings(tornado and severe thunderstorm), there is no streaming. Link for severe weather coverage always goes to pre-recorded weather.

### 2/5 — Landscape View

*2024-11-10*

The map is available in landscape view but the daily temperature forecast is not. This is not useful nor helpful to those who use an iPad with a keyboard that wants a quick check of the forecast. Make the whole app available in landscape view. That’s the way people view their TV’s (landscape) so why not all apps.

### 3/5 — Some Suggestions

*2024-09-12, version 6.9.1*

This is is great to have. My phone is older so it does not have the latest version, so some of these things may have been addressed already and I apologize if they have been. Anyway, not everyone is available to watch the news broadcast at 10:00pm which is where we get our local weather forecast updates until 4/4:30am. The national channels do not cover the South well, unless something horrible happens, then they swarm in. North Alabama does not exist to these people. So my suggestion for your Weather Authority Video Forecast Section is to please put the latest video up which would be the 10:00 pm. It is already being recorded so you just have to upload it. Then we can click on that and have an idea of what to expect. Weather changes can happen rapidly so from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm the storm track may have changed, especially with hurricanes and possibly storms that produce tornadoes.

Also, the App should have fresh stories on them, the ones there are from 5 years ago. Leave how to tune your NOAA Weather Radio and information like that but news stories should be what was done during the numerous broadcasts. The App should be able to keep up better.

Thanks.

### 3/5 — Crashes!

*2023-05-15, version 6.8.1*

Still crashing! The other weather apps open right up but not WHNT’s! I reinstalled a few days ago.. won’t open again tonight!

### 2/5 — Why Fix what Ain’t Broke?

*2022-02-16, version 6.7.1*

I have used this app for a long time. Today I removed it and went with another. I did this because I don’t like not being able to get the day’s weather without having to wait for the app to load, and it isn’t easy to find stuff anymore. The changes are not user friendly.

### 2/5 — App crashes

*2020-09-16, version 6.4.63*

The app crashes all the time and every time I go to look at the weather the app crashes.

### 1/5 — Name Change

*2020-09-03, version 6.4.63*

I never use this app, because I can never find it on my phone. I search “weather” to locate my weather apps and this one never shows up. You need to rename this app for what it provides, weather details.

### 2/5 — C

*2020-04-09, version 6.4.62*

I think Jason and all the meteorologists on whnt do a great job. But this is not a good app. It used to be my go to but they changed it and now the radar is just confusing and I can’t figure out how to change the settings on the alerts. The radar is pointless if you have no idea what you are looking at. It was great before though.

### 1/5 — Ads all over, worse than pop ups on olde windoze!

*2020-03-22, version 6.1.2*

I’ve had this app installed for almost 2 years, but seldom use it due to the impossible ads placement and closing them is just impossible because they take over and you can’t go back! Just have to start over, and the ads fill up again.
Sorry WHNT, I like you guys, but this app is and has been useless. No good!

### 1/5 — App not worth downloading

*2019-07-16, version 6.1.2*

App is radar is so incorrect. Will state storms in your area, look at radar and nothing no where close. Yes, I use my location. I’ve deleted app and will use another source.

### 1/5 — Was good. Not now.

*2019-06-29, version 6.1.2*

Cant save notification settings. 61 different ones. I live in the south. We dont get lake snow.

### 1/5 — Yuck!

*2019-06-24, version 6.1.2*

Please give us our old app back! I seldom write reviews, but this app is just frustrating and disgusting. It was one thing to have advertisements at the top of the screen, but now people pinching their belly fat etc. are all over the screen. To me the old one was much more user friendly.

### 1/5 — Ads

*2019-06-08, version 6.1.2*

Please remove the numerous ads.

### 1/5 — Still no alerts

*2019-04-13, version 6.1.2*

For some reason the alert notifications don’t work anymore. I used to get a push notification when there was storm moving in but the last few storms that have brought tornado warnings and watches I got nothing. Location is on and all alerts/ notifications are on. DONT EXPECT ANYTHING USEFUL FROM THIS APP!! I’ve emailed the app developer and whnt several times over the past few months but never got a response

### 1/5 — No Alerts

*2019-03-09, version 5.1.1*

I loved the app when it would notify me of impending storms, watches, warnings, and lightning, but it all stopped working on all of our iPhones. (One 7 and 3 10XRs) The app is up to date. Notifications for the app are turned on in Settings. Location is enabled. I’ve even looked at the app settings inside the app. All is set up to notify but nothing happens. I’ll give them some time to fix it before April. After that, I’m deleting it. It’s useless the way it is.

### 1/5 — New version not as good as the older one

*2019-03-09, version 5.1.1*

This new version has major issues. Have had many phantom alerts to start with and the radar is hiding all landmarks and streets where there is precipitation. They need a major overhaul of this app and the sooner the better. The only good part of the app is the alerts when they work correctly. I have gotten alerts for places that I have turned off alerts for. Also no alerts for current location at times. Best advice I can give is to use at your own risk.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just so bad

*2026-04-29, version 7.1.0*

I don’t know if it’s because of the decrease in personnel and funding, but this app has changed so much for the worse. Much less interactive and much less informative.

### 1/5 — Ads are ridiculous

*2026-04-10, version 7.0.2*

These ads are just ridiculous. WHNT doesn’t make enough money already?

### 1/5 — Ads

*2026-01-24, version 7.0.2*

Too many pop up ads to actually use the app

### 1/5 — New update 7.0.0 not working

*2025-06-18, version 7.0.0*

Lousy update. There is now just a black screen upon opening.

### 1/5 — Ads during Severe weather

*2025-06-17, version 6.9.4*

I used to love this app and had it at 5 stars. However, now I’ll try to look at radar or see what’s going on during severe weather events and ads will pop up. I understand needing ad revenue but if I’m trying to find out if I need to seek shelter, I shouldn’t have to wait through an ad. That’s time lost for my child and I to seek shelter. Please find a way to at least disable ads during severe weather events, other times it’s acceptable to help finance a dependable local weather app.

### 1/5 — No Alerts!

*2025-02-16, version 6.9.3*

I have quit receiving alerts. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, still no alerts. I sent an email and no response.

### 1/5 — Landscape View

*2024-11-22, version 6.9.2*

11/22/2024: Now there is no landscape view for maps. I’m going to be looking for a new weather app that actually makes landscape views available. 11/10/2024: The map is available in landscape view but the daily temperature forecast is not. This is not useful nor helpful to those who use an iPad with a keyboard that wants a quick check of the forecast. Make the whole app available in landscape view. That’s the way people view their TV’s (landscape) so why not all apps.

### 1/5 — No Live Streaming

*2023-01-12, version 6.8.1*

Links finally started to work…the live streaming in this app goes to WHNT’s web site where I had to click on more links to get the live streaming for the current severe weather. Why open the app when a person can go directly to the website? This is taking the app backwards and not useful or helpful during bad weather. There are other ways and other apps to get weather alerts on.

——————————

No Live Streaming during tornado warnings! WHNT keeping their commitment to others and no longer the public in the city or county they live in and work in. This app is really lacking because of that and no longer useful while people are in shelter.

### 1/5 — Boring

*2022-07-24, version 6.8.0*

What was wrong with the old version? I loved it. This is just boring to look at.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2022-01-01, version 6.7.1*

I can’t tell what is news and what is ads.
It’s flashy if that’s what you are looking for.
Deal me out.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best Weather Forecasting

*2022-10-08, version 6.8.1*

The app is ok but stop with the “improvements”, please. However, you have the best, most reliable weather forecasting around. That’s what counts so keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Great replacement for iMap Weather

*2021-08-18, version 6.7.1*

I started using this app to replace iMap Weather Radio, which was deprecated and no longer worked. I can safely say that I get all needed alerts for both my location in Oklahoma City, and for my parents who live in the Northwest Alabama area (covered by the station behind this application). This app does what I need and does it quickly, within 1 minute of warning issuances, allowing me to assess the threat to my parents and advise them accordingly (they’re not as weather savvy as me).

### 5/5 — Great App

*2019-01-09, version 5.1.1*

This app is great to use during severe weather situations like the one in early November. It alerted me when the storms were coming and the radar was very useful. It also alerted me of storms in my area when I was on vacation. Thank You!!

### 5/5 — DennisS

*2015-04-04, version 3.6.600*

Very pleased with the way this app.
It worked very well during the storms on April 3rd.

### 5/5 — Live Local News Stream!

*2012-07-03, version 1.0*

Awesome app for streaming the local news, live radar, and weather alerts. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Promo girl

*2012-06-29, version 1.0*

Peace of mind. WHNT does it again. Love the ability to watch my favorite weather team track the weather. First and only station to do this in Tennessee Valley. An extra with this app is being able to watch streaming news.

### 5/5 — The Best

*2012-06-29, version 1.0*

This is the best app out when it comes to accessing weather or watching the news Live from any of our local news stations. I'm very pleased. I'll be sure to tell my friends

### 5/5 — WHNT has done it again!

*2012-06-28, version 1.0*

WHNT has always strive to provide severe weather coverage to all of it's viewers. This app allows you to watch LIVE storm coverage via your iPhone, iPad, or, iPod touch. I love this sooooooooooooooooooooooo much! WHNT is the BEST! :)

### 4/5 — My Review

*2023-07-11*

I think that this app is very helpful, especially if you just want to do a quick check to see the temp and see if there is rain around before you head out. However, you have to go to Facebook if you go live with storms because when you hit the live streaming section, it tells you that the channel is not live unless you break into programming. Another issue for me is you can not layer more than one thing at a time onto the radar. Lastly the time lapse at the bottom of the screen on the interactive radar goes way too fast on the 24 outlook and the regular one only shows just a few minutes.

I would like to add that when the weather is potentially bad enough that the meteorologists say we need to go live to warn people, you should break in to whatever programming is on no matter what it is. Weather can turn dangerous quickly and not everyone can get to a device but they can have the tv on. You can always replay whatever programming is on my announcing, we will replay this the next day at some late hour so they can record ot watch it. There is also the option of moving the programming to one of your other channels. Weather should always come first over programming.... unless there is a civil authority briefing on war breaking out or something like that. This is Alabama and everybody knows that even the mildest Cell can ramp up very quickly.

### 4/5 — Basic and functional

*2016-09-24, version 4.3.401*

Simple and easy to use, I like the weather radar too.
