## What is Why did I open my phone??

Keep hold of what you opened your phone to do.

You had a message to send. Something to look up. An idea you wanted to catch. Then a notification, a feed, or another thought got in the way.

Say it before you get pulled somewhere else. Tap the microphone and talk. Your words appear as you speak. When you stop, your note is saved and the text is already copied, ready for the message, search, or list you came for.

Start recording from Control Center, before the thought gets away.

TALK FIRST. SORT IT OUT LATER.
Take up to 90 seconds to get it out. Be brief or ramble. Every finished note is saved, so you don't have to decide where it belongs while you're trying to remember it.

TAKE JUST THE BIT YOU NEED
With optional cloud cleanup, dictation mistakes get a second look and useful bits become separate pieces to copy. The message inside “text Maya saying…” becomes the message itself. The thing to add to your list becomes a list item.

Tap a piece to copy it. When text has been fixed, tap Fixed to see and copy the original, or switch back again.

CHOOSE WHAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE
Speech is transcribed on your iPhone or iPad. Cloud cleanup sends the transcript, not the recording, for AI processing. Switch it off to keep transcription and note-taking on your device. You can still ask for cleanup on an individual note later.

FIND THAT THOUGHT AGAIN
Search your saved notes, protect the ones you want to keep, and manage or cull the rest as the list grows. Access to your history is secured with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.

SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE
Download the supported on-device speech languages you use and switch between them whenever you need.

No account or subscription required.

Say it. Keep it. Get back to what you meant to do.

### 1/5 — Cloud option crashes the app

*2025-09-12*

I set this to use the Cloud option, which you have to pay for, and every time it finishes with the Cloud dictation and presents the result back, the app then crashes, which makes it completely useless.

**Developer response:** I’m really sorry you had this experience. We’ve checked the crash logs we can access and nothing has shown up, and our QA team using Cloud AI hasn’t been able to reproduce it. But we know the crash is real, and we’d love to work with you to solve it. If you’re open to it, please reach out at confusionstudios.com/contact. Thank you so much for letting us know and for giving the app a try.

### 5/5 — Amazing voice dictation: Apple Pay heed!!

*2025-02-06*

This is literally what voice dictation is supposed to be… You don't have to put in punctuation… The app just knows where the punctuation is supposed to go! The only limitation of the app… And this has nothing to do with the app and everything to do with Apple walling stuff off… Is that it takes one extra button press to paste in what you've dictated using Good Dictator into whatever situation you need to put this voice dictation into… But that's a result of Apple being dicks and not anything wrong with the app Itself

**Developer response:** Thanks, we're so glad you're loving it!

### 5/5 — Mind Blowing

*2024-12-20*

It’s inconvenient to use a bit, but the transcriptions are so solid you can just send them without reading them. That’s awesome. It’s definitely worth paying for for now

### 5/5 — Great convenient fast & fun

*2024-09-27*

Apple voice dictation works OK sometimes, but in other circumstances it really misses the mark. This app gives me unlimited use of AI dictation which is better. That’s amazing. It’s very convenient and works really well for the stuff Apple dictation struggles with. Thx!

### 5/5 — Wow

*2024-09-27*

All of the complaints I have about voice dictation--It misses technical terms, it gets confused by different languages, and overall it's pretty inaccurate--are all addressed by this app perfectly… I literally cannot believe how big the giant blocks of text are that I get *mistake free*

I feel like this is a tool I have needed for a long long time

**Developer response:** Thanks, we're so glad you're loving it!

DECREE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GOOD DICTATOR

One of our AI providers has been executed.

They could not keep up. Speed was promised. Speed was not delivered. The regime does not tolerate lag in the chain of command. Cloud dictation now runs under a provider that can actually keep pace with your voice.

Separately: the rewrite agent has been made smarter.

He was loyal. He was eager. He was simply not bright enough. Rather than replace him, the Dictator had him improved. Same officer. Sharper mind. Rewrites leave the chamber in better condition than they entered.

The Dictator remains benevolent. The standards do not.

### 1.101.0 — 2026-05-25

DECREE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GOOD DICTATOR

The previous verbs were adequate. Adequate is not enough.

The AI Robot's rewrite commands have been reorganized by order of the Dictator. Gone are the timid corporate stylings. In their place: ten verbs that actually mean something.

• Shorten — Ruthless cuts.
• Clean Up — Respectable.
• Punch Up — Say it louder.
• Dramatize — Full theatrical production.
• Text Me — Like you're messaging a friend.
• Hype — Unhinged enthusiasm.
• Roast — Be mean about it.
• Make Weird — You asked for this.
• Noir — Rain. Shadows. A dame at the door.
• Manifesto — The Dictator approves.

Furthermore: the AI Robot has been disciplined. It will no longer tamper with your facts, names, numbers, dates, URLs, or anything else that actually matters. Style is the Dictator's domain. Reality is yours.

### 1.100.0 — 2026-05-19

DECREE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GOOD DICTATOR

Before, Good Dictator was not perfectly obedient. You said "new line" and it wrote "new line." You said "open quote" and it sat there like a confused intern. You said "ellipsis" and it stared blankly. This incompetence has been purged.

Our optional AI robot now intercepts your raw dictation and fixes it — punctuation, line breaks, quotes, all of it — before it's automatically copied like always.

And our AI Robot can also write with 10 verbs:
• Shorten — Cut the fluff.
• Expand — Flesh out.
• Simplify — Plainer.
• Formalize — Mo' business.
• Casualize — Conversational.
• Sharpen — Hit harder.
• Soften — Diplomatic.
• Restructure — Improve flow.
• Energize — Caffeinated.
• Neutralize

The commands are yours. Let the machine do the artistic toil of stylizing them.

Also in this release:
• Premium subscribers can now record longer dictations.
• The Dictator’s volume meter now judges your voice with a steadier eye.
