## What is Widex Zen, Tinnitus Management?

Nobody else can hear it – but you hear it all the time. It’s a ringing, buzzing or humming noise playing in your ears, and it’s exasperating. The aggravating ringing in your ears, called tinnitus, can be managed.

This App provides you with a sounder player with relaxing Zen sounds. The Zen sounds presented on the playlist are intended to provide a relaxing sound background for adults (21 years and older) who desire to listen to such a background in quiet. The Zen sounds may be used as a sound therapy tool in a tinnitus treatment program that is prescribed by a licensed hearing healthcare professional who is trained in tinnitus management.

The Zen sounds presented in the playlist are intended to be used in quiet where hearing everyday sounds is not critical. The sounds are intended to provide a relaxing sound background for those who suffer from tinnitus.

The app also provides you with access to educational tools, which are intended to increase your awareness about how to live with your tinnitus through education on the basics of tinnitus as well as explained exercises.

Usage:

The app is intended to be used with Widex hearing aids (either with streaming capability or via a COM-DEX or UNI-DEX). We recommend you listen to the selected sound for at least 2-4 hours a day, at a soft level. It is important the you choose a sound that you find is pleasant, to help you shift your focus away from your tinnitus. Listen to the sound while you are in quiet surroundings doing other things: reading, relaxing, working, etc.  If you use hearing aids, the sounds in the app may be used alone (without amplification) in quiet when you are not required to hear surrounding sounds, or they can be used so both the surrounding sounds and the app sounds are heard together.

### 2/5 — Remove flowing water sounds from Zen program

*2026-01-09*

I like my Widex hearing aids, had “Tone Link” first, they had a program where just tones were played, this help my left ear tinnitus, without interfering with my hearing. They were replaced due to and a wire breaking. My new Allure are good, but the “Zen Dreams” on the the widex Zen Tennitus app, has flowing water on the only program with tones. Flowing water sounds are difficult for many people, as it makes them want to run to bathroom to void. Please, fix this bug, just make a program with tones only, this will retain the brain to hear those sounds (brain plasticity).
My tennitus has gotten worse without the tones. Thank you

### 1/5 — After two years and NO updates Widex needs to up their game.

*2025-11-29*

The Zen Tinnitus Management is a good idea but outdated.

With the advances of AI this could be an actual helpful tinnitus manhunt app.

You also REMOVED in hearing aid tinnitus sounds in the ALLURE.

WHY stream zen sounds from your phone to HAs when the HAs could contain the info with less signal loss?

Apple has not yet adopted the newest and best sounding bluetooth.

Get with it WIDEX. We are tired of newly released HAs with LESS improvements than the model before.

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2025-04-11*

Well rounded and does now have a Balance setting to where you can make the sounds lounder in 1 ear more than the other.

### 5/5 — Thankful

*2024-09-04*

So thankful I found this app and wish I had it years ago. I’ve had tinnitus since a very young age (I think caused by many many ear infections damaging my ears?) and even though I lived with it all my life, there’s times it’s worse like when I’m sick or times when it’s almost unbearable because I can’t have one quiet moment. Sleepless nights with babies and all the anxieties of motherhood have made my tinnitus the tip of the iceberg when I’m exhausted with days of no sleep yet a racing mind keeping me up and on top of it all my ears seem to ring extra loud in these moments in the middle of the night. This apps sounds have helped me so much in these nights when a box fan won’t cut it. Turning on these sounds to make my mind focus on them instead of the endless thoughts and tinnitus has been incredibly helpful. Thank you for making this and please never remove it!!

### 5/5 — auto play setting ?

*2024-05-22*

I find this app very helpful to distract me from the tinnitus. Unfortunately when there’s an interruption like a phone call, the app doesn’t auto turn back on after the call has ended. I have to return to the app to restart.. Like many other apps can this feature be added?

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-03-17*

When my mild to moderate tinnitus acts up, I use “Pink Noise” for a few minutes and it stops my tinnitus immediately, especially at night/bedtime when it is most perceptible. This app is remarkable!

### 5/5 — My favorite and a misconception

*2022-07-17*

The collection of audio tracks in this app is great. I listen to several but my favorite is Zen Dreams because of the bird that lives in it. I say “lives” because there is a slight echo that makes its calls sound so real. The first time I heard the bird I was at a mall and I looked around for it, thinking that it had gotten inside by mistake, that’s how real it sounds. I look forward to its impromptu visits.

Some of the reviewers think that you need Widex hearing aids to use the app but that’s a misconception. The app is no different than other streaming apps so it can be used with any Bluetooth speaker or earbuds besides hearing aids. I use it also with a Bluetooth headband to help me go to sleep when my tinnitus is acting up.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work with latest versions of Apple IOS

*2022-03-01*

I was using this app to retrain my hearing to control tinnitus. When the new version of the IOS was installed this app would stop every time the screen went to sleep or I navigated away from the app. I would then go back and restart the app.

Too bad. My audiologist recommended this as one of the best tinnitus apps.

### 4/5 — Good one!

*2022-02-22*

I have tinnitus in both ears but a lot more
I’m my left ear. A lot these Zen or Tinnitus apps are mono and or you have to use the device sound settings to change balance to achieve effect therapy. This app has a decent list and the ability to balance left-right and control volume in the app itself. That makes it easier to use. I have Widex hearing aids and the Moment app has similar available sounds but I find the waving feature in using pink noise or even forest sounds is a better therapy and not found on the parent app Moment. Using this in combo with my hearing aid app is simplified and works well as a tinnitus therapy. This like any other doesn’t stop tinnitus not a cure. It allows your brain and stress of focusing on the tinnitus, have a welcomed break! I tried these on my iPods pro and is even a bit more effective when the tinnitus is bad or very annoying. Allows to subdue external sounds that draw you to your tinnitus and and crank up the therapeutic session. Lastly a hint. Use the timer. Don’t listen to therapy sounds for long periods. Mine is about 30 mins max.

### 5/5 — Thank you

Thank you for creating and sharing this valuable tool. Works for me!
