## What is Wiki Uploader?

Wiki Uploader is an application for uploading multiple images from your iPhone to Wikimedia Commons. Images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons website are intended to be reused by editors of Wikipedia articles and in other wikipedias under one of free Creative Commons licenses.

Wiki Uploader allows you to select multiple photos from Photo library on your iPhone, helps you assign title, description, and categories to each photo and to multiple photos at the same time. It also allows you to browse all your previous uploads and view details of each uploaded photo.

The application can suggest how to name and describe your photos and can pre-fill the data for you. It also helps to find the appropriate categories to increase discovery and use your photos.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in, doesn’t support current picture privacy

*2021-11-10, version 1.2.3*

I can’t log into Wikipedia commons - the option that displayed when I first opened the app is to “log out”, and if I click that it gives me an error “cannot log out: cannot receive login token”.

I also cannot tell it to load individual pictures via iOS privacy settings. No support is available on the developer web page.

### 2/5 — Still incomplete

*2021-05-30*

Doesn’t allow to log in, and the text is yellow on white background: not too easy to read!

### 1/5 — Adding categories and licence info impossible to read

*2020-11-05*

The app uses yellow font. On some screens the background is dark grey and you can read it, but on other screens, such as categories, the background is white and the yellow font is completely unreadable, so I can't add categories or choose a non-default licence.

It could be a very useful app if the colour choices were improved or the user could pick their own. I could not find anything in my general settings that would explain it, and it is the only app I have which has this problem.

### 4/5 — uploader works great for photos! sound files?

*2020-10-27, version 1.2.3*

It looks super easy to use and fast. Could you maybe add support for sound files also? thank you!

### 5/5 — Simply great

*2020-06-12, version 1.2.3*

This has become my tool of choice for uploading pics from my iphone to Wikimedia Commons. (There are few to none alternatives except the complicated form on Commons website itself).

Pro: really easy, and fairly quick to learn. I doubt that it is possible to realize uploading pics to commons more simple. yet, it is quite mighty, e.g. uploading a bunch of related pics with same description, and the app autom. varies suffix to the user-specified upload filename. It even has an autofill-enabled search for choosing categories.

Cons: Hardly any. The adressed task is very complex, and to put it in an app which is really easy like this is quite a masterpiece. It required to reduce functionality, and this is the reason for most of the things on my wishlist below.

My wishes: 1) Please replace yellow font used on some (!) of the subpages. Depending on light situation etc. this is really difficult to read.

2) Sometimes, having written sth in the description field, then going to a different field and afterwards returning to descr. to add more text, with the first finger tap the whole (!) former text in the descr field disappears. Maybe related to my iPhone being a 6s, newest iOS though. (13.5)

3) The automatic suffix when uploading multiple pics makes veeeery long numbers, e.g. (Filename) + 12 28 56 107000. This simply makes for "strange" looking filenames. I believe that technically, 4 or 6 digits without blank in between would be enough and look better.

4) I often make derivative works from existing files in Wikimedia Commons on my iphone (the built in "photoshop" in ios is surprisingly good, though it lacks the "Zauberstab" Function) It would be great to be able to make all the "derivative work" stuff in the app, though I understand that this is a giant task and might make usabilty more complex.

5) Lastly, it would be nice to have an "interactive" mode when uploading a bunch of related pics, so that one could make changes to, e.g., the descrptipn before uploading each file in the stack. This is for example useful when upping 10 pics of the same car, which show different details. The biggest part of the descr is identical in this case.

6) Some of the above might be put into a kind of expert mode or advanced mode, to keep basic usage simple as it is, which is just perfect.

Kudos to the programmer, and excuse the long wishlist ;-)

### 5/5 — every things called wiki

*2019-05-28, version 1.2.3*

everythings called wiki its awesome

### 3/5 — Slow but good

*2017-12-22, version 1.0.3*

This app runs pretty slow, but it’s still not as slow as emailing pictures to myself and uploading them to Wikimedia Commons from my PC.

I look forward to seeing updates that build on what is currently a decent product.
