Some of these camps are out in the sticks, a long way from easy contact and sometimes without service. Plan accordingly. Live free. ### 5/5 — Essential app for overland travel *2021-11-27, version 3.8.6* Along with another app, iOverlander, WikiCamps is our go-to app for finding places to camp nearly every night. WikiCamps has one big plus over the other app, and that is that you are able to download regions in advance INCLUDING THE MAP LAYER, so that when you inevitably lose cell signal you are still able to use the map to locate your destination. The “other” app allows download of all the data for a region, but without the map, which makes it a little less friendly when you lose service. Every time you use a site update it with photos prices and comments to help those following. The Australian WikiCamps App is the only one you need in Australia because so many users update it each day. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Wouldn’t Recommend For Dispersed Camping *2022-07-24* Bought the app trying to find dispersed camping spots within the National Forests in WA State. The only ones that show up are rest stops and parking lots on the major highways. Very little information on finding dispersed camping on forest roads which is what I was looking for and no free trial to test it out. ### 1/5 — Not very good for off road dispersed campsites. *2018-09-29* This app is not very good. Free Campsites.net or iOverlander is much better and has more current info. Don’t waste your money. ### 2/5 — Not the largest database, terrible offline maps *2025-08-29* Missing a lot of sites that are on Campendium. I feel like I’m using a computer from the 1980’s... PLEASE take a look at CamperMate (New Zealand app) and upgrade this app. The filters are annoying, the icons and overall design is blocky and visually confusing. There is no place to view all of your favorites unless they apply under current filters (maybe I’m missing something, in which case, again this isn’t user friendly). At least it has the info needed for my trip, but using the app is a pain. I have high hopes for what this app can become... ### 3/5 — Could be better *2018-02-28* Not complet.
