### 3/5 — Doesn’t work great

*2026-08-19, version 2026.08.11*

Though I love the website, the app doesn’t function the best. It is hard to use and just doesn’t work well as an app. There are some fun inclusion about it, but overall, it’s much easier to use the website.

### 2/5 — Galaxy-brained design

*2026-08-12, version 2026.07.31*

I love that now when I press the magnifying glass button, it doesn’t immediately let me search, it instead shows me my history, and makes me press the magnifying glass *again* in order to search. This is a super intelligent design feature and not at all stupid. Superfluous extra steps are super cool!

*2026-08-11, version 2026.07.31*

### 2/5 — Wiki refuses to fix the search in page feature

*2026-08-03, version 8.2.2*

The search feature within a page stopped working months ago yet Wiki still has not addressed it. I’ve emailed and reached out several times to please fix this, or at minimum provide a work around (ie browser vs app, something) or else remove the icon entirely. This makes no sense not to have been addressed by now. I am withholding all donations and support for the program and will seek other apps. Epic Marketing 101 fail. I find the attitude unprofessional in that customer feedback is rendered pointless.

### 3/5 — Need to turn off side swipe

*2026-08-01, version 8.2.2*

I need a setting to turn off side swipe. It’s too easy in current UI for a user to trigger it accidentally.

### 2/5 — Not as convenient as the site itself!

*2026-08-01*

I love wikipedia, but this app is just hard to navigate. There were times when I was redirected through browser to this app, and I had a hard time finding what I was looking for.
Then I close this app, and go to the site, and voila. There it was!

Im not asking you to make direct rip of the site, but make it as easy to navigate as the site.

### 4/5 — Inconsistent Chinese Language Variant (Traditional vs. Simplified Chinese) Across the Wikipedia iOS

*2026-07-28, version 8.2.2*

Hello,

I would like to report an issue regarding Chinese language variant handling in the Wikipedia iOS app.

Device and Environment

* Device: iPhone 12 Pro Max
* Operating System Language: English
* Apple Account Region: United States
* Wikipedia App Language Preference:
    1. Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan)
    2. English
    3. Japanese
    4. Chinese (Simplified, Mainland China)

My preferred language is Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan), and it is the first language in the Wikipedia app.

Issue 1: Search Preview Displays Simplified Chinese

When I search using Traditional Chinese, the search result previews occasionally appear in Simplified Chinese, especially for topics related to China.

However, after I tap the result and open the article, the article itself is correctly displayed in Traditional Chinese (Taiwan).

This suggests that the article language conversion is working correctly, but the search preview/snippet does not consistently respect the selected Chinese language variant.

Issue 2: Inconsistent Language on the Explore Feed

On the Explore page, different modules use different Chinese variants.

For example:

* Featured Article is displayed correctly in Traditional Chinese.
* Games (such as “Which Came First?”) is displayed entirely in Simplified Chinese.

This happens even though Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan) is my primary language in the app.

It appears that different components of the app are not using the same language preference or language-conversion mechanism.

Expected Behavior

Once Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan) is selected as the primary language, all user-facing Chinese text in the app—including:

* search suggestions,
* search previews,
* Explore feed modules,
* Games,
* and any other localized interface content,

should consistently appear in Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), unless a particular feature is explicitly unavailable in that language.

If certain features currently only have Simplified Chinese localization, it would be preferable to either:

* perform automatic Traditional Chinese conversion, or
* fall back to English instead of displaying Simplified Chinese to users who have explicitly selected Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), or
* display Simplified Chinese with a message notifying the user of the situation.

Thank you for your time and for developing the Wikipedia app.

### 3/5 — Wikipedia has an app

*2026-07-20, version 8.2.1*

It would be much nicer if there were tabs so I could have multiple pages open at once.

Without this, having the app installed is a net negative, as clicking a Wikipedia link launches the app and exits the page currently open.

### 3/5 — Was Good, but now slow.

*2026-07-18, version 8.2.1*

I’ve used the Wikipedia app for a while now, but it seems to have been taking up more battery and resources than before when it is open. It seems a lot slower than it used to be.

TL;DR
The content is good, but the app’s performance is starting to decline.

### 4/5 — Good, but widgets don’t work

*2026-07-17, version 8.2.1*

Great app, great website. Love Wikipedia. Even in the age of AI, Wikipedia will still have a place in my life. Nothing beats browsing. Just wish the iOS widgets worked better, very buggy. The photo of the day and featured article widgets never work, always break. Reinstalling, restarting never works. Always get the error of “no featured article for this day,” and the photo of the day doesn’t refresh, stuck on the same photo for days, and when you click on it, it just takes you to the general Wikipedia home page.

### 2/5 — Love Wikipedia but the app has a problem

*2026-07-15, version 8.2.1*

I use Wikipedia every day. It’s the best. The app often freezes when I’m reading articles on the iOS app, though. Especially when I scroll, it’ll freeze for a few seconds then go back to normal. This has happened for years and I assumed it’d be addressed, but it hasn’t been addressed.

### 3/5 — unable to log in….

*2026-07-10, version 8.2.1*

pretty buggy, i like it though. but im unable to log in though because the captcha does not load at all. pretty annoying that i cant really use it fully

### 3/5 — I wish

*2026-07-05, version 8.2.0*

I wish that there was an option not to save any history or search data and that it was all erased on closure. It is really annoying.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Let us export reading lists

*2026-08-04, version 2026.07.31*

Bring back the ability to export reading lists. Absurd to not even be able to export the names of saved articles. Why are you putting stupid games in the app when it lacks this basic functionality.

### 1/5 — Bad service

*2026-08-04, version 2026.07.31*

I keep getting accused of analyst, but I’m not doing it

### 1/5 — suggestion

*2026-07-28, version 8.2.2*

would be so helpful if clicking on search graphic automatically placed text cursor in search field and displayed keyboard for typing

*2026-07-19, version 8.2.1*

### 1/5 — Unable to log in

*2026-07-15, version 8.2.1*

Unable to log in on app, am able to log in on browser just fine. When logging in I just see a blank captcha box on WiFi/cellular, private relay is off and so is automatic verification.

### 1/5 — Many images wont load

*2026-07-14, version 8.2.1*

Several images show a blue question mark. When i click on the image, i have to refresh several times to see it. Please fix this

### 1/5 — Nice vibe coding

*2026-07-10, version 8.2.1*

### 1/5 — Can no longer use find

*2026-06-30, version 8.2.0*

Find on page broken

### 1/5 — Can’t even search anymore

*2026-06-30, version 8.2.0*

Suddenly, search isn’t working. Amazing design! Top UX ;)

### 1/5 — Dreadful

*2026-06-27, version 8.2.0*

Extreme left-wing bias!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Feature Request

*2026-08-16, version 2026.08.11*

I’d love to have a widget dedicated to the app’s Places feature spotlighting nearby articles.

Thank you, Wikipedia! The app is great.

### 5/5 — Everything is great and I have a few small suggestions

*2026-08-08, version 2026.07.31*

-It would be great if the articles near you map had a widget form
-A setting to close tabs automatically after a time would also be nice

I have had no problems with anything else and this is my favorite app on my phone.

### 5/5 — I live for Wikipedia

*2026-07-28, version 8.2.2*

I love the wikipedia app always and forever. Big ups 2 tha Wikimedia Foundation 🤙💯💯💯

### 5/5 — Legendary encyclopedia.

*2026-07-25, version 8.2.2*

Thank you for your job, ad free and open.

### 5/5 — Indispensable

*2026-07-21*

### 5/5 — Always been there!!!

*2026-07-09, version 8.2.1*

Wiki has been a source of info for me for a long time.
I will still use it as it feels more independent than AI. As the AI service may cease being free I would think Wiki will be even more important!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2026-07-09, version 8.2.1*

I absolutely love this app!and I find it very useful for looking things up.

### 5/5 — good

*2026-07-03, version 8.2.0*

### 5/5 — peexy

*2026-07-02, version 8.2.0*

peexy

### 5/5 — Thank you for adding delete all tabs

*2026-07-01, version 8.2.0*

Deleting all tabs was very useful to me because I would regularly clock up 320 wikipedia tabs and while amusing to look back and review the rabbithole I find it more function to delete all occasionally.
